That was a beautiful ride. Amazing roads. Thank you!

Sounds like you need “What really grinds Dave’s gears” segment ala Family Guy as a companion to Dave’s Garage 😁

You are not the first person to suggest that to me, which means you might be on to something... haha

Ohlins says- they only have rear shocks, for the 2019 Speed Twin 900; I'm looking at the 2024 - did you get good fit, on 2020 ? would it work on 2024 ??

Think you'd struggle with u.k roads Dave if you think that's busy mate... good video 👍

Well, all the gawkers are out looking at the trees, not knowing where to turn, and otherwise just being muppets... It doesn't take much to ruin my flow and annoy me, I admit. haha

would these Ohlins work on Speed Twim 900 2024 ? fitment? Ohlins says they have rear shocks for 2019 Only
@SquireSCA2 ай бұрын
I honestly don't know... They worked great on my 2022 ST 1200... You can always call or email Ohlins and see what they suggest? Or hit up the guys at British Customs and see what they sell for your bike.

Was that on stock shocks or Ohlins on the back? You are clearly a very competent rider the quicker bikes were not leaving you way behind. I am waiting for my 2022 speed twin to get out of the dealer - decat, new tires, DNA (?) air filter, Ohlins on order not due in Au’s until Feb next year!

Ohlins shocks, but I am considering gutting and rebuilding the forks now as well.

Decat and air filter surely make the bike breathe a lot more easy and we do get a lot more power, however it does lead to dead spots. Trying to figure a way around this issue. I did change the ohlins on the rear to the ones that come with the thruxton r and the front forks as well the ohlins from the speed triple this have improved the handling considerably.

Great road 👍 Too bad was so busy, but I think you said was the weekend. I expected that poor Harley guy was going to get passed on the right before he could get in the right lane, screwing it up for the riders behind him and spooking him so then he didn't really know where to go. I installed YSS fully adjustable rears on my 2019 ST and am happy with them. At almost 1/2 the price of the Ohlins, it was an easy decision for me. What cold tire pressures are you running for a day on the twisties?
@SquireSCA2 жыл бұрын
34F and 36R cold. For track I would drop to 32/32

@@SquireSCA thanks! I run 35 / 38 to try to get a little more lifespan out of the rear while still getting pretty good feedback and grip. 36 feels awesome on a new set of tires though.

How do you compare it with the Z900RS? interested to hear your thoughts.. cheers
@SquireSCA2 жыл бұрын
The Z900RS is a better handling bike once you replace the shock. The Speed Twin needs new shocks AND new fork internals, whereas a $500 shock on the Z900RS is all it needs in that department. The Kawi is also a bit physically bigger, and it's a much sportier bike, with more performance. It has the same or more torque, but makes more HP, revs higher and faster and is just more eager as a sportbike. It's a really tough call between the two, but having owned both now, what one would I buy if I needed this type of bike? I would get the Z900RS SE with the Brembo and Ohlins... Out of the box it would beat the Speed Twin in every performance category, and in most ways, it looks and feels just as retro cool. But you can't go wrong with either bike. I don't worry about the performance as much because I have the ZX14R sitting next to my Triumph, so I have performance covered...

@@SquireSCA Dave which would you say makes the better daily commuter with the occasional pillion on a weekend?
@SquireSCA Жыл бұрын
@@LaminarSound The Z900RS, IMHO. It's a bit bigger of a bike, better suited to 2 up. The Speed Twin is lower, very narrow and the seat isn't all that great. Either bike will want a shock upgrade if you do two up regularly... Unless you are both Hobbits. haha

@@SquireSCA Damn... thats what I suspected but god the Speed Twin is sexy..... my wife does pretty well on my STREET Twin and I love that bike, so I imagine the Speed Twin is a dream. Im still eyeing the 900RS. This motorcycle thing never ends I guess... Ive only had the Street Twin for 2 months and already want 3 other bikes.
