Man I love playing as Riga, but the start is incredibly slow since you need strong allies with curried favors in order to do anything. I know, he got the double points on it, but even then this one felt quite inbalanced

Big respect to Cogs for even trying. If i drew Riga against Lubeck I dont think I would bother unpausing. I also appreciate you making changes to rebalance things as you go. I hope we see some more balanced matchups like scotland vs ajam.

The Nation selection is becoming quite unfair. Maybe some kind of bidding system where the player who won the bid gets the nation pick from the two on the board and the losing player gets the advantage/handicap proportional to the bid ?
@speed5official Жыл бұрын
We have some added rules regarding the nation picks for tonight's episode!
@RandomAutist Жыл бұрын
why would it be unfair? they are hiddenn and they pick a number, in what sense or what kind of argument could you make to paint it as "unfair"
@jaakkovuori9616 Жыл бұрын
@@RandomAutistIt's not unfair in the sense that it favours one player disproportionately, but it's unfair in the sense that it is so impactful that the game is no longer a fair representation of the players' skills. If we'd take this to the extreme, just flipping a coin to see who wins would be very fair, but it'd be very unfair to call someone the best just because they won the flip.
@RandomAutist Жыл бұрын
@@jaakkovuori9616 What? they pick a random nation, its completely random, being fair or unfair has no say in this, i think what you meant to say is more aligned with "is it possible to complete X task with X country ive picken"
@another_blacktomcat Жыл бұрын
@@RandomAutist thats besides the point. the added randomness lessens the skill impact, so to say. when you have 2 players with equal skill, the random pick may decide who will win. which is pretty toxic for any sort of competition.

Unlike a lot of other commenters I actually like the random nations, but maybe it'd be a good idea to give players a chance to reroll their nation if they get super unlucky like here with Riga - double points aside, it would be nearly impossible to beat lubeck in this scenario
@fretorian8180 Жыл бұрын
Habibi almost got 6, at 5 minutes mark he had North sea, Novgorod, Baltic, Lubekc, Saxony and Rein
@IamCogs Жыл бұрын
I did a few test runs with both nations after the challenge, Lubeck starts off super strong early literally getting 1 node in dec 1444 if you protect trade in Lubeck, completely possible to be the leader in 4 nodes within 10 minutes. Riga needs some more time to scale but if things go right they can get 4-5 by the end of the run.

Hey! You can find Habibi's first duel in the first episode of Masters here on YT! The episode is called "EU4 Masters is back!" Thanks for watching!

I like the random nation. I think the time period is too short to make up for a huge difference in start though. Two hours might be better. This season could be a good chance to confirm that though. Look back at the data from the first couple matches and see if people are winning based on better starting position. Then if we see a large disparity in win rates, you can institute additonal rules. I eould be in favor of a draft of some sort based on performance in the previous round. No mods though. This should stay vanilla EU4.
@nijobi Жыл бұрын
It's kind of a shame that you can win a game by luck in drawing a better country, there is no way Habibi could lose. The starting situation i too big a factor in a game of just one hour.

@yannicklarafunez4768 Жыл бұрын
It is fun, but at the same time I think there shouldn't be a nation in it that has an overwhelming advantage. Lubeck in an OPM trade focused quest feels extremely unfair, Ottomans in a blobbing quest. It is nice to have stronger and weaker nations, but leaving out the heavy hitters. @@speed5official
