Needs more of the 90s aesthetic and the original banging soundtrack, go back watch Running Man, Total Recall etc. and of course Rollerball. its good that its getting made but yeah needs 'ICECREAM!!!'

I am a big Speedball 2 fan and I will be watching the progress of this. I miss the Chrome and Dan Malone's style.

At the first look it seems promising and I really hope it is. But the goals seem to smal and the field also. And it is relatively slow paced (which isn't nessessarily a bad thing). I also miss "Icecream, Icecream" yet (after 3:51 minutes of watching). A Speedball game with no "Icecream" isn't a real Speedball (2) game! Despite of this I will have a closer look at this. Is it also planned to be released for consoles and maybe the good old PS4? Until then I think I will play the Original with my new Competitio Pro Joystick. Still the best. And most of all: I just would be very happy if someone would just edit the original Speedball 2 (Amiga version of course) and add a bigger manager mode with more teams, leagues and options. This would be perfect and no modern Speedball clone would even come close. At least no one has come close until now.

Having the same thoughts, to be honest the exact same gameplay, top down with sprites would be perfect. It does seem slow but I suspect many of us remember Super Nashwan games, not Revolver, so if it's the very first game with the equivalent of 100 pt newbs, that's perfectly fair. Not convinced I want this yet it will need some work but it does have potential. Hopefully we don't have to tell I'VE CREAM! ICE CREAM! ourselves. I'd honestly be perfectly happy with an identical remake of the Amiga version of Speedball II. That and Cannon Fodder, never found a good version of either. Edit : Purchased it and refunded within 10 minutes. Looks OK but it's no fun.

This could really do well with a 5v5 mode I feel like. I know it's really built to be a silly basham style game but I see a ton of potential for a competitive team scene for this something akin to rocket league or EA's Chel. Idk just my two cents

They slowed down the gameplay and trimmed down several game elements. Not sure if it will do the game a good service. Even the music is downbeat and lackluster. Most of all, the art style has been changed into some generic asset flip looking kind of style. And what kinda hurts me the most: No team manager mode apparently! This is what I liked best with the original. They could expand a lot on that mode alone. Like, give me the option to prioritize money pickup vs. scoring for my guys! Sure, it's just early access. Let's hope they'll fix lots of things, make the music catchier and introduce a new art style. Just imagine: The artist can re-envision the original Bitmap Brothers style in a modern context! Sounds like a really interesting task for an ambitioned art designer. But I feel like it's too much to fix. Hope dies last, but my hope for this one is pretty small overall. Even with many of the points left unfixed, they could probably turn me around with a team manager mode.

I can appreciate what they are doing here with a revamp but…… Looks slow, UI a bit soulless, no banging soundtrack, atmosphere just isn’t there, camera too wide looses the speed…. no sliding.

Hopefully they add some original spice and make it look gritty like the original. Stay faithful and the players will support this but try change it completely and it will be a failure!

Why does everything have to have soft edges and pastel colours. Game looks like everything is made of rubber. Jeez, even all the sounds are muffled and soft. No harsh metallic sound when the metal ball hits the ground or walls and it sounds like the exact same soft whoosh sound even when they are punching each other. Nothing visceral at all. And adding blood splashes every single time players touch each other just diminishes the effect. This game is to Speedball what Valorant is to CS-Go. Everything softened for the kiddies who feel trigged when someone sends them an 'aggressive' thumbs up emoji in a text. Even the music is bland as hell.

Yeah I agree. Looks like we've got yet another Speedball game that fails to match Speedball 2. Why they dont just port the original Speedball 2 over and add online multiplayer is bizarre, it was the perfect game, nothing needed changing.
