I recently bought the kit and my emulsion is teal? So i purchased more sensitizer and it still didn’t match “grass green.” With those results, I bought a brand new batch of both sensitized and emulsion…. This time the sensitizer was clumpy and wouldn’t mix (note: I used an electric mixer after this happened and screen still had spots of sensitizer and was nowhere close to “grass green”) Does the sensitizer expire? Do i even continue at this point?

Hello, I bought a large bottle of emulsion and a sensitizer bottle, I did it per instructions but the emulsion just came off after I attempted to burn a screen and my emulsion looks really blue, do I need more sensitizer?

I exposed with the sun in Arizona, for about 1:20min, and it just started falling of when rinsed with pressure wash. Will more sensitizer help with this?
@speedball_art

I am sorry you are having trouble with the emulsion, it does sound like more sensitizer is needed, once mixed with the sensitizer the emulsion should be very grassy green for it to work correctly.

absolutely! the sun is a great option, but with likely require some trial an error depending upon conditions. If you reference our Create in Place playlist, Speedball Demo Artist, Dominic Rapone, has an amazing tutorial on how to expose your screen using the sun. happy printing!

@speedball_art
@speedball_art 3 жыл бұрын
we recommend hours in that it ensures it will be fully dry no matter the climate in which you are preparing the screen. you can certainly expedite the dry time with something like a fan if you wish to move to the exposure step more quickly. thanks for tuning in and happy printing!

@speedball_art
@speedball_art Жыл бұрын
The design/image on the screen will be printed exactly onto the print surface. But sometimes, you need to reverse the text to be printed on the transparency film. This way the printed side of the transparency film doesn't touch the emulsion when exposing.

Hi I am trying to use the speedball photo emulsion kit but struggling with results. After exposing the screen it takes a very long time to wash away the stencil, eventually other parts of the screen are washing away whilst parts of the stencil are still not washing away. Very confused by what this means I am doing wrong? Tried another screen applying more photo emulsion but it dried gloopy, tried another screen with less photo emulsion and yielded same results. Using a Caydo 50W LED UV Screen Printing Light for 8-12 minutes positioned at the same distance from the frame as the width of the frame. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

How long does it take to dry the emulsion?
@speedball_art
@speedball_art 5 жыл бұрын
Once placed on the screen, we would recommend giving the emulsion at least overnight to dry in an environment free from light. The ideal dry time would be ~24 hours.
@margueritemarinakis84
@margueritemarinakis84 3 жыл бұрын
in the video he says to let the emulsion dry for 1.5 hours, but the speedball book instructions say 4 hours, and now I'm reading to leave it overnight? which one is right
@speedball_art
@speedball_art 3 жыл бұрын
much of the time for drying will be driven by how thinly the emulsion is applied and what the humidity is like in your studio. The safest bet is to let it dry overnight if you are a beginner. If you are like Brian and have been coating screens for years and/or live in a particularly dry environment, 2-4 hours may be all you need. We always recommend erring on the side of caution with dry time and usually wait overnight with our own prints to be extra safe. Hope that helps!
