While blueglass was pretty irritating at times, I gotta say, zoast handled himself incredibly well on this amazing run. Also, kudos to Sinister1 for being able to adeptly keep the conversation on track when it strayed. He and go1den were phenomenal commentators during the run, great voices on the pair of them.

Getting hyped for SGDQ 2018 and revisiting some old runs. I am really impressed with the class shown by Zoast and the couch. It’s obvious that Blueglass isn’t picking up on social cues. The way the others let him join in and very tactfully cut him off when necessary really made the run interesting to watch. BG’s passion added more than his annoying traits detracted. Great job, guys.

I watched Zoast's facial expressions and body language throughout the run, every time Blue decided to jump in for extended commentary. Considerably more smiles and engagement in the commentary when anyone else would talk. His face would often sink within the first few seconds of Blue beginning to ramble. I'd say he's a very patient and even-tempered human being but he was clearly annoyed, just biting his tongue. You can say what you want to defend Blue, but the way he hijacked the commentary and seemed to decide from the start that he was going to do that, just completely inappropriate. Much props to everyone there for getting through it, especially the guys who were actually supposed to be doing commentary that must have felt very uncomfortable by the position they were put in.

He is not neurotypical and a lot of the GDQ runners found it difficult to deal with his behaviour due to lack of knowledge and understanding of how to do so. On the outside, it may appear he is hijacking the conversation but to someone like Blueglass, they're just doing commentary. Regardless of how "annoying" some of his behaviour ls are, he does these things without any malice. It's just the way he is. Blueglass has since retired from speedrunning due to work and looking after family.

I remember using this as a guide when I first played super metroid because I had no clue what to do. I was like 9 or 10 at an after school program and I would have 1 tab with a super metroid emulator and another of this video. Seeing this now makes me realize just how far we've come with speedrunning. Normally where you would do a moonfall to get to the bottom of the room right before the nes mother brain room, Zoast didn't do it, either because he couldn't (which I doubt) or because it hadn't been found yet. Zoast even did Kraid first instead of Phantoon, and it's moments like these that show you just how different 2013 was compared to 2023.

Thank you so much for this run. While I will never be this good, this route was a huge help. Been playing this game for about a month. Took my 100% in game timer from 5:00 (for my first run) down to 1:08 in game timer for my personal best run today. (Not sure what real time would be) I think if I want to get better, I'm gonna have to get off my ass and really learn damage boosting, shinesparking from a jump and get way better at mockballing. And super short charges. Not sure if I have the manual dexterity to get that good.

(I didn't even notice until I read the comments here) But I've seen him in a few other Metroid speedruns on YT. He seems pretty intelligent and polite, even if a little socially oblivious... which I'm certainly guilty of from time to time. Not sure why all of the hate on blueglass. I can see how some people find him annoying at times, but quite honestly, I enjoy his commentary during the games. He knows so much about so many of the speedruns, and is consistently putting forward information that is useful to other speedrunners and novices alike. This is how it used to be when I got a new nintendo or super nintendo game back in the days. Everybody just watching , eagerly awaiting for you to pass to the next level, and to be honest gaming was kids or nerds in those days(1980's and 1990s). This is really cool! I see a guy that's pretty passionate about this event and games in general. From what I know of him, I'm guessing he was probably thrilled to be sitting on the couch for one of the event's most well-attended runs. Sure he's a little awkward but that's just how some people are; especially when they get nervous/excited. I have a hard time getting on board with the idea of running this guy off of a charitable video game event because his mannerisms are a little outside the box.

Here's a few things I've found. GRAPPLE BOOST: grapple a block or a ripper V. 2, press down to make the beam longer, swing until you have a lot of momentum, and release. This makes you go faster then a normal grapple. WATER SKIM JUMP: you need the space jump for this. Go to an area that's deep enough to make the space jump turn into the somersault you have at the start (can't use the gravity suit for this) but still get into the air from jumping. You will only be able to skim the water while space jumping, but the animation is of the somersault. EARLY WRECKED SHIP (KINDA): you can access the area before the wrecked ship at the start of the game. Wall jump off the side of the platforms and change direction so you land on them, repeat until you reach the top. Jump off the right and you will be by the door leading to the wrecked ship.

7 years late, first time seeing this particular run. Gotta say I'm with the one donator who stated that animals are canonical, and thus it cannot be a 100% if you don't save them. Crazy skill on display here, and as someone who has never gotten more than 96% complete, I've learned a few things i didn't know.

I hope Blueglass doesn't take these comments to heart on here. A lot of people don't understand certain medical conditions and often times just want to put people down to make themselves feel better. Obviously he has a neurological condition but all in all seems to have most issues under control. Yes his voice is naturally louder than most, but so what? Maybe accepting people for who they are, clearly nobody running the games or sitting in these rooms have a problem with him being there, so why should the viewers. You can mute the video you know?

It's not that he's being too loud, he's just talking a lot. You see Blueglass in a lot of other speed run videos from this event where he doesn't say anything more than "Blueglass" at the role call. He just got really talkative in this video. :P

Actually, during the Paper Mario run at SGDQ 2013, he talks a small bit with Pie in the beginning about the versions, the asks small questions sprinkled throughout a 3:30 period. He usually just wants to know about a game, but this a rare moment where Blueglass is not asking a question, and is arguing with the runner. And Blueglass is one of the only runners who takes "serious time" seriously, and allows the runner to concentrate.
