I got a ticket in Suffolk county. My lawyer didn't do jack shit. The cop says my speed was 87/55. He used a radar at 1500 feet. Which is absolutely absurd, I checked the manufacturer specs and 1500feet is way more than the effective range listed by the manufacturer. I had one speeding ticket conviction at that time in Rochester for 60/55. Judge said I had pending hearings and used that as evidence. How can pending tickets for which I'm innocent until proven guilty be evidentiary. Judge threw the book at me and suspended my license for a full 90 days and since Suffolk isn't part of TVB, they weren't subjected to the TVB suspension time frames(30day for first time 60 day for second) etc. So the DMV automatically suspended me for 30 days and the judge suspended me for 90 days but they pretty much ran concurrently. Now my abstract shows TWO separate suspensions and I have the persistent violator label on my record. NY courts are just one big corrupt cash grab. Is there a statute of limitations on appeals? I'd say counsel was ineffective and the radar reading shouldn't be valid because the distance of the reading was much further than the distance rated by the manufacturer. I know appeals are 30 days for tvb and that's through Albany but I don't know if the same applies for Suffolk.

Don't blame your lawyer it's not his fault. That court is totally unfair and tramples people's rights. The court is so bad that I no longer accept cases in the court. I practice throughout the entire state of New York and out of 1,400 courts that is the only one I refuse to go to. The executive director of the court is Paul Margiotta he is overall in charge. He is a retired court officer and lawyer, and also has a private law practice in Suffolk County. He doesn't hide the fact that he works full time for the county and also runs a full time law firm - just Google him and his website will come right up. If you have any complaints, it is with him. I have contacted every media outlet in NY State and brought them evidence from cases I did for clients as to how badly they abuse the public, but not one of the new outlets cared. You need to appeal that decision. Attorney Scott A. Lockwood has successfully appealed cases out of that court. He has also sued them in civil court. He has his finger on the pulse of their bullshit. My question is my ticket is under NYC beacuse my car is registered in Long island? Is the rule same for Long Island and NYC? Also I wanted to know My hearing is still pending, How long it is ginna stay in my insurance recosrd? 3 years from Violation date or 3 years from the conviction date if I found guilty? Photo enforced tickets in NY do not accrue points, but in parts of California and Arizona they do, and they could in other states as well. This is why you should always check with local counsel before pleading guilty to a ticket. Thanks for the support!

Photo enforced tickets are akin to parking tickets - they are not moving violations. Just pay them.

I got pulled over by the cops and they are telling me that I was doing 73mph in a 50 mph lane. I simply don't believe that I was going that fast on the highway. I ended up pleading not guilty. The only proof that I have is that I don't see the technology on the ticket that the cop used to measure my speed. It is not on the traffic ticket that I have received. What can I do? Help

Same thing happened to me in nyc. State trooper says I was going 74 in a 50. I don’t believe it either. I know when I am going that fast. My car even had a check engine light and was on limp mode Plus I was in the right lane. It just doesn’t add up at all. I plead not guilty. Is it possible the cop was lying about the speed ?
