I’ve been a huge fan of Atarashii Gakko for about 3 years now. They all seem like wonderful people in addition to being unbelievable performers and they always seem to attract the right people to be on their side along the way so it’s no surprise that one of them had a teacher like you. As much as I love them, it’s unbelievable how far they’ve come (including being at Coachella right now)

That building was such an amazing experience for me while visiting Tokyo last month. We entered not knowing what to expect and with no prior research.... I had the happiest expression on my face when we entered the Uniqlo store and found the MGS Collection. I almost bought a toilet bidet that day from Yodobashi, luckly my friend was there to stop me from doing that. (I wanted to bring a bidet back home so baad). Thank you for reviving those memories :)

Those wall unit AC/heat things are legit as hell. My house is over a century old and thus doesn't have space in the walls for ducting so when I had to replace the existing heating, I had those things put in and they're amazing. Sure central air would be more convenient, but when it's not an option...

Man I love this video. I have some really good memories of akiba HEY. I went and challenged a certain chiptune artist on twitter over this cult versus shmup called twinkle star sprites. We decided to meet up and play at HEY for fun once I visited Tokyo. We played it a bunch, I lost 95% of the rounds, but it was a good time. You can find EVERYTHING in Akiba HEY, if it's old school and has a cult following it's gonna be there for you to play in all its glory. I must've went there 3 or 4 times over my trip.

This is perfect timing, I'm going back to Japan in a month and I'm staying in Akihabara. When I went to Japan in 2019 we went to the original Yodocha camera building, 5 floors of camera gear. I remember seeing a roped off section beyond the Hasselblad section. It was very much a "If you have to ask you can't afford it section."

The UDX plaza is nice. Several nice restaurants on the higher floors, can sit outside and watch the trains pass, public parking under the building, and it's right around the corner from Yodobashi. I also agree with Pete, beware Yodobashi, it's easy to spend all of your money there! I don't travel into Tokyo too often, maybe once per month, but this is one of my favorite areas there that I've been to.

Love the contents! Never tried that Craft beer tab in Yodobashi before. Anyway, I hope you have already found it, the Yellow Submarine RPG shop has moved to a bigger place next to the Yakiniku-like (the building that has Family mart at 1st floor). Also, the Hub on the right-hand used to be full-blown smoking area. They changed it after the new law introduced in 2020. Now both sides are kind of the same.

Perfect timing. Heading back for my third trip in 2 weeks and needed some places I hadn't been before. A topic I'm having a hard time getting answers to is finding affordable housing for gaijin. I'm considering taking advantage of the digital nomad visa but finding housing is hard because I know the listed price is often for japanese people and gaijin will often have to pay 3-4x the price.
@JTGX266
@JTGX266 3 ай бұрын
Sharehouses unless you know people 🤷‍♂️ it's that or pay the fees which for a short amount of time tend to feel like a lot, and that's if you can get anybody to rent you an apartment for only six months or one year on what is essentially a temporary visa. This is of course actually a lot easier outside of Tokyo... While sharehouses can be an issue for work from home there are actually plenty of shared office spaces and similar work cafes to get around this. Sharehouse rent in Tokyo for me at least is cheaper than renting a room in my own home country which I consider absurdly cheap given its a massive city like Tokyo.
@The_Lone_Aesir
@The_Lone_Aesir 3 ай бұрын
@@JTGX266ty, but sadly shared houses or offices is not an option for me given the nature of my work (i handle confidential information)
@JTGX266
@JTGX266 3 ай бұрын
@The_Lone_Aesir then again you are likely to be spending large fees just to get an apartment. The rent itself won't be too high even for a short term let but the fees are normally absurd. And again it'll be tough to find somewhere. Mudan went over this himself in a few videos and he had plenty of help to find a place. Again I'd recommend maybe considering and looking into a less busy city or area of Japan than Tokyo. You'll get much better deals and will have a far more unique experience. Sometimes liking or wanting to live in the Tokyo area feels like a curse. My rent would've been less than half in Kyoto for example, but my entire life feels like it is in Tokyo now so I'm stuck. 😂
@The_Lone_Aesir
@The_Lone_Aesir 3 ай бұрын
@JTGX266 oh for sure. I have zero intention of staying in tokyo. So long I'm at least a 45 min train ride from yokosuka I'm fine which does open up better pricing.
