Speedy Sparkle Purple Haze

Detailed instructions for tying a easy, fast and durable Sparkle Purple Haze parachute dry fly.
Recipe:
Hook: Standard dry-fly hook (here, a Lightning Strike DF1), sizes 12 to 18.
Thread: Black, 8/0 or 70-denier.
Tails: Coq de Leon fibers.
Wing post: White calf-body hair.
Hackle: Barred ginger.
Body: Purple Ice Dub UV .

Fantastic technique! Thanks for sharing another great video! I finally tied some parachute flies last spring using this technique on a few Adams parachute and a few Game Warden flies. I love how clean the flies look and fish. This is my go to method for parachute flies now. I don't fish with any purist anyway because they are narrow minded! ;) Cheers!

Using the uv to finish the hackle is almost too easy, but it's tough to complain when I'm looking at the little pile of parachutes growing quickly in front of me

The purple haze has been deadly in all kinds of water. I've also had luck with this pattern when using a thread body and UV purple dubbing thorax.

I think purple works because people tend to focus more on the drift than the fly.

Sorry My question was vague so I’m not sure if that answers my question. Does your no whip finish method work well on tiny flies, 18-22? I am struggling a bit with it on smaller flies and am not sure if it’s just not a good fit or I need more practice...thx

you have absolutely ZERO CHANCE of this fly staying together after a couple of rainbows. Without tying the feather into the head-knot, you are wasting time nad materials on flies that get destroyed in 2 seconds.
