Unfortunately, I'm afraid we're on borrowed time. It's sad, but the age of this incredible muscle car era we've been enjoying is at the end of It's lifespan. It's so frustrating because the reasoning as to why we're seeing this change and movement away from fossil fuels is completely unnecessary. The government wrecks everything.

I guess we will have to wait and see. But I remember when FCA took over. We all thought the Challenger and SRT would end, but we got more amazing cars with the Demon, Redeye and Super stock! Fingers crossed that we get some more surprises from them! 🤞🤞🤞🇺🇸🏁

From a Technical Engineering viewpoint, factoring in fuel efficiency & emissions, yet retaining a high (satisfying) level of performance...IMO: A Hybrid configuration utilizing a new lighter weight (Goal of at least 800 Lbs. lighter than current Challenger?) vehicle platform with the look of a '70-71 Barracuda, AWD, smaller displacement V-8 engine (perhaps around 5.2L, plus/minus?) with Turbo-charger(s) and high torque electric motors; ability to run on different fuels, 10-speed AT (7 or 8 manuals available?)...And call it a "Cuda" complete with retro-styling, etc. Keep the current Challenger at least for a few more years. The Charger...perhaps same/similar approach.

No actually when the 6.1 powered Challengers were released in 08, it crushed the Mustang GT and were only putting out 300hp at the time. Then in 2010 when the SS were produced, they we're almost identical in performance numbers and make 426 hp. I like what you said, you were born to be a Mopar enthusiast and gotta dig that 💪🏼😎. Even though I've been a Mopar guy for forever, I also still like the others and am a fan of new as well as old-school muscle. My first car was a 68 Charger that I got in 82 when I was 17, and am currently building a Challenger SRT8 with that 6.1

You are spot on across the board as usual Speedy. I totally agree with your perspective, maybe on the 800 ICE HP + 200 electric HP but count me out if it's a fart machine. Remember how the majority of the IR&D pool got stolen for the Giorgio platform ($5B) by Sergio (Marchionne - the previous European CEO of FCA). Stellantis may likely be worse, starting with the SRT disbanding perhaps. I'm keeping my 2016 PCP M6 HC forever and my 15 year old daughter will row it when I'm gone assuming you can still get fossil fuels in the USA then. Keep up the great videos - stay safe down there in KY.

I worked for a large company and lived through countless reorganizations. Bottom line is even though the people remain they will be measured differently and will perform to the new measurements. In the case of SRT, they appeared to be a little rouge in their pursuit of performance. I fear they will lose that aspect and the benefits it reaped.

Hey Speedy, just wanna give you a quick correction on the european V8's... BMW's e92 M3 that you mentioned had a naturally aspirated 4.0 V8. The next generation, F80 had 3.0Ltr straight 6 with twin Turbos. They also use a twin turbo V8 in the Current M5, X5/X6 M & M8. Mercedes is also still putting twin turbo V8's in their C63, E63, G63(G-Wagon) and AMG GT...... Oh yeah, I live in Stuttgart and my HellCat catches a lot of attention when I take her out, even amongst all the Porsche's, AMG's, M's, and Italian cars! BTW, I'd love to see an AWD 1000HP Challenger too!

Sad day if this is true! I have owned several mustle cars in the past 20 plus years. My Hellcat by far is my favorite one of all time. Like you said speedy it's the best of both worlds. It's powerful and it's like cruising while sitting in your recliner. I hope they at least keep the mustle car alive!

Stellantis is a merger between FCA and PSA. It's based in the Netherlands. I like what the ceo has said about the company plans. Hopefully we'll see more products for Chrysler and Dodge. Ralph Guiles has said SRT is still there, it's mostly a change in how they report. It sounds like they want to spread the knowledge across the brands. The day of the V8 is numbered I'm afraid. Part of the reason for the merger was PSA had the hybrid and electric technology that FCA lacked. The V8's will more than likely be regulated out.

I could see the charger going full EV with over 1000hp to take on the top Teslas and others. AWD, 8-second car, 700 mile range etc. With a name like charger, and how the car has rolled with the punches with whatever era it was built in kinda makes me think that, not to mention its called CHARGER. Also heard they'll keep building the current challenger and charger beside brand new ones, that are supposedly really being worked on right now for 2023 debut.

Speedy, we did not have SRT until 2003 and with all things, they must come to an end. The next performance division of Dodge will be another acronym and we will buy it. LOL! The muscle cars are back and we are living in historic times with power/torque rations. History has taught us; gas shortages will impact manufactures and they will stop making (for a time) the 15 mph vehicles. I like to reference movies to predict the future. Go watch Demolition Man and watch how they solved their COVID pandemic and then the old muscle car saves the day. SRT will fade out, but Dodge will continue to support the Hemi platform and make something else to peek our interests.

Luckily I’m old and I grew up with muscle cars brand new on the lots, I’m not a fan of electric cars, I need the v8 rumble, looking under the hood and seeing electric motors or batteries is not cool to me, I feel for the younger muscle cars guys that have to deal with this electric BS like my two sons, as gas prices go up I think we’re going to see more gas thefts happening, I believe it’s going to take a long time to replace the millions of gas and diesel vehicles in the US. with electric let alone the infrastructure it will take to support them and of course our electric bill will go sky high to pay for all of this

Usually the tech gets trickled down from hyper cars down to performance cars within 10 years later. So probably around 2025 might see electric hybrid muscle cars. Not full electric because no super cars are full electric.

Got my Hellcat, its a second car for me, so I'm good. Aside from the fact that I don't like the way they look and sound, here's what I don;t like about the electric car movement: 1. At least where I live, the taxes on fuel is what pays to fix and maintain the roads.....there will have to be some type of alternate tax implemented on electric vehicles where owners are not purchasing Gasoline. 2. The raw materials needed to create the lithium batteries are plentiful in China, not in the U.S . 3. Currently EV's like Tesla are somewhat $$$. As the prices come down on these vehicles, envision a future where its common that teenagers are behind the wheel of electric vehicles that can go 0-60 in 3secs.....

was working at the electric engines plant overseas, were making engines for trolley basses, each trolley bass has 2 electrical engines each 150 hp, one engine cost 150 $ to produce (in 1990). So electric wechicle in my opinion have to cost 30 % less than any gasoline vehicle. However they are pricy like luxurious cars. Plus no range, battery will never ever substitute an internal combustion engine, unless compact fusion reactor will come

Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, are light years ahead of anything in engine tech then north america. Small engines making tons of power has been a thing in Europe for over 50 years and it took domestic manufacturer that long the make any production vehicle have 700hp. European vehicles have made 500hp plus vehicles since the diablo came out. The McLaren F1 is still the fastest na powered V8 car built by a auto manufacturer. European technology is hugely advanced over anything ever built by north america. Group B rally cars are still the most insane speed machines ever built and they were all made by Europeans.

No doubt but the cars you describe are multiple 6 figure vehicles, not $80K like a Hellcat. I spent some time in a McLaren 650S and for $300K they can keep it. It was a rattle trap with a crappy interior and the AC barely worked. Sounded amazing and was quick, but other than something on the road course the luster faded very quickly.

Well I think with the current administration in Washington and the way things are going with global warming I think our beloved Hellcat days are numbered. Look how they are going after the tuners and performance shops. Not to mention this quote "In an interview with CNBC, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said that the Hellcat engine is on its way out. "The days of an iron-block supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 are numbered," Kuniskis said. "They're absolutely numbered because of all the compliance costs. But the performance that those vehicles generate is not numbered."Feb 1, 2021" It was a good run Speedy. 😪
