Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine

I've had mine for about a year, and despite mobility problems with my shoulders, it works great -- especially when I make the right sandwich (LOL). Turning the clear plates upside down often keeps the warping down to a manageable level.

Good morning Tracy great video!At 11:00 you seem to be having problems getting your sandwich to go through your machine. Just a tip... Angle in your straight edge dies just a wee bit so they're not going in totally straight to your machine. If they're straight on.. the rollers act like a speed bump and creates friction that makes it very hard to roll them through. At an angle they glide right through.

A little hint, dies that have straight edges you place on a slight angle. It feeds much easier and doesn't stress dies.

Would love it if they had one plate that was magnetic. I sent them this same request and was told I could use a magnetic shim.....I think I knew that but would love it if they could produce one like the big shot.

I bought this machine a couple months ago. I love it for dies (although i did ruin one the first time i tried the machine) but i can't get it to emboss with my embossing folders i layer it the way it says but the plate is not thick enough it slides right through, but 2 plates are too thick

+Marie it didn’t work for me either using the sandwich they say to use on the platform. The only thing I can think of is the spellbinder brand embossing folder (of which I have none) must be thicker than other embossing folders. I got it to work for a regular embossing folder by using the following sandwich: platform, embossing folder with paper inside, tan embossing mat, one cutting plate. I hope that works for you too!

Yea maybe but then they have the instructions for the 3D ones but I do think those are thicker. Oh well I still love it for dies. I’ll use my cuttlebug for embossing folders

Marie it did the same thing to me but I figured it out. Put the platform first than align the mat than the embossing folder than the plate towards the bottom of the platform than run it thru

Hello thanks for sharing this video, Actually i'm still using my small Sizzix embosser that die cuts, bought in 2018, but i've been wanting a larger machine, so far i've been picking all the wrong ones. But after returning 3 back, i've decided on the Spellbinder Platinum 6, i expect it tomorrow, so i'm excited. Well i got the Spellbinder 6 today, i wish i had good news, but i don't, i tried out the embossing, it seemed to work fine, but when i tried the die cut, it did not cut, not even i piece of card stock, then i tried just a folded piece of construction paper, i followed the instructions to the (T), i just don't get it why it didn't cut, it just cut a tiny bit on a few edges, but 95 % didn't cut at all, i am absolutely sure that i put it on correctly, too, this was very frustrating to me to say the least. Also although it's heavy & possibly made well & takes up hardly any space & it was packaged very well, it was missing the rubbery tan colored embossing mat, it has wasted space as the drawers i thought to be drawers don't open at all & there's no suction cups, so i have decided to return this product, this makes 3 now & it's not me, these machines just don't perform as advertised at all. I've returned back the Evolution, the knobs didn't work & the drawers were very hard to open, the Nurixovo cut great, but couldn't emboss & the Zip eMATE is an older model i thought i'd try, i got it still brand new, but this didn't perform at all either, what a bunch of crap. Well i'm going to take a chance on the 9" Bira Craft, this is the last one i'll order, i'm fed up totally.

I got mine in March, I was disappointed that I couldn't get a Bigshot. Nowadays I am happy because it does eveything I want to do. However I find it difficult to get dies because the closest place to buy them is too far for me to travel, due to illness, and I can't shop online, therefore I am left with whatever magazines I can get with free dies on it. However I must stress I love my Spellbinder 6. 🇦🇺

So is anyone getting a bunch of sticky stuff from their tan embossing mat? It's not really mentioned anywhere, although I did see a couple of mentions on Amazon. The mat leaves this gross sticky stuff on my embossing plate and cutting plate. Really irritating and not happy. Just bought 2 weeks ago.

Hi Mercy - thanks for a well-done & very helpful video! I wondered if you have ever used the contour steel cut dies, I just unboxed my machine, made the (platform-less) sandwich, laying a scrap of 140 lb watercolor paper on top of die, then 2nd cutting plate. The machine made scary crunchy sounds when I ran it through, though the Tag, You're It tags came out beautifully. Then I saw the top cutting plate had been "etched" with the tag design...I'm almost scared to try it again (but will) for fear I've ruined the cutting blade(s) already! Have you any experience with these dies? On next try, I'm going to either use a thicker material or a few sheets of watercolor paper stacked -- hoping that keeps the blade from biting into the plate any further. Thanks for any info/advice!

When you put too many dies at the same time, it takes more effort to cut. That’s why it took you longer to take the pieces off

I'm a lefty - can this machine be turned around and cranked in the opposite direction, or does it only work using the right hand to crank?

Hi Renee! Thanks for the great question! The Soellbinders diecut machines do crank in both directions (as do most die cutting machines that I’ve come across) so to use your left hand, you’d just turn it around so the crank was on the other side. Thanks for watching!

Vickie Lee I don’t have a cuttlebug anymore but I used to have one. The one I had (the original CB) was more wobbly than this machine. This one has a wider base than the CB I had but I’m not sure if the newer CB is different than the original one. Otherwise they work the same. Although when I bought my CB it didn’t come with the embossing mat (and this machine does come with it). I hope that helps!

They do have the original machine, that cuts up to 8.5" wide: www.scrapbook.com/store/spe-pl-001.html. It's rather more expensive, but if you need the wider platform, I would say it's probably worth it. HTH! :)

Andrea La Vigne Yes! But It was not available when I got mine and I have never needed the larger platform. You need to look at what you are using it for and choose weather the extra cost is justified. There are many larger dies on the market, that need the larger platform, but are you going to use them? 🇦🇺
