I notice when you say the word wheel, sound the wh, it sound like breath out some air, I don't know why I always hold the air when I say the wh sound. several year ago, I noticed NBA broadcaster shout D-whight, he sounded like as you did, the question is which words or when will happen this? like the wh words what, which, when, I never heard that breath. thanks.

I heard there is a small difference between in the sentence and the single word, when you sound the word wheel alone, it sounds more like /h/ sound.😭

Great question! Yes, in some dialects you can hear the breath more with the WH, and some words sound clearer than others. I personally cannot hear the difference between W and WH when I speak, but I do feel air come out when I say a word like "whale" vs. "water."

Great question! Logic of English does not teach this phrase because it is often not true. For example, the word "break." We teach the phonograms and the different sounds each represents and then cue the students on which sound is being used and the students learn to analyze the spelling of different words.
