beautyisthebeast_11 Awesome... It was the best night of my life... They played They're only chasing safety and Define the great line back to back... I have never been that tired after a show and A Day to Remember is from my home town... Their local shows can get chaotic...

Rock on Josh, I have been a fan since around then. I am 26. Ive seen them live 5 times. They are probably the band that pushed me to keep pushing on. Never to give up. Then Demon Hunter continued that flame when their music burned out.

This is really cool, my only question is the whole "full time" thing. I know Tim, Chris, Aaron, and James can't tour full time because they have kids. However, I think Underoath is at a place where they can tour 5 months or so out of the year and be fine. When you're able to sell out 1500 - 2000+ capacity venues every night as a headlining band with no label or contract behind you, you're able to succeed independently which is HARD to accomplish. They basically spent 13 years building up to this point.

First time I saw Underoath was 2006 Taste of Chaos in Brisbane at the age of 15, man what a fucking show. Define the Great Line and They're Only Chasing Safety are both up there in my favourite albums of all time. My partner and I were at the Brisbane show the night before this interview too, again, so amazing. Can't wait for the new album!

Dude clearly has very little understanding of the history of hardcore and metalcore. They were definitely not one of the first bands to make this shit more widely accepted lmao
@metalboy276 жыл бұрын
Any other examples? Underoath appealed more to the post-hardcore folks than bands like KSE, LoG, or AILD though, which was actually a very popular genre with bands like Senses Fail, Hawthorne Heights, and Story of the Year making it mainstream.
@DesolationofJake6 жыл бұрын
Underoath isnt metalcore or hardcore bud..
@micdap75336 жыл бұрын
jake tee I didn't say they were lol. But he literally said "there were others before us" and then he mentioned poison the well and the refused. Makes no sense lol. And yeah define the great line definitely had alot of metalcore riffs which was the time period he was referring to. There were plenty of bands from "that scene" that got big before these guys
@micdap75336 жыл бұрын
metalboy27 yeah it's just that's not what he said. He brought up the refused and poison the well in comparison
@metalboy276 жыл бұрын
Poison the Well isn't super far off style-wise though. But that's what I mean, they basically combined post-hardcore with metalcore. I'd say Eighteen Visions is another similar example. They definitely gave people, who were into the pop-punk/emo/post-hardcore scenes at the time, a "bridge" sort of into metalcore. But again, I agree that they didn't necessarily make metalcore more mainstream (not that it has ever been close to mainstream).
