I don't think gender should play a role in whether or not a friendship is "necessary". It's the fact she kept it a secret. It absolutely does not have to be problematic nor a big deal seeing as you can be friends with people of the opposite sex without any romantic or sexual feelings. What do bi/pan people do then? Two gay/lesbian people being friends doesn't mean they'll eventually like each other in that way. I feel as long as you're a loyal person then you can be friends with whomever the same way you would anyone else.

No he does not. He has the best with Liv. She has always put others happiness before her own until the end of season three. According to these comments you have not watched the show from the beginning. She always was the one forgotten in her family and with the worst brother in history. Spencer was the first one to show her real attention. She didn’t really know how to handle someone loving her like that because she was never received that love from her family. Once she tried to do things for herself, she was the villain to some because she was trying to find her own way. Spencer told her time after time that he had her back, but Liv never experienced anyone having her back and that included her absent parents. She was scared to tell Spencer Ashley was a male. One because Spencer has a temper. Two because she still has some insecurities. She is learning and growing and I love that for her. She deserves to be happy with Spencer and that is what the head writer focus is on. As in her interview, Spelivia is maturing and their relationship is in the process of being stronger. Their love for each other will rise to a new level of commitment as they grow in this season. A few weeks ago, the main cast was asked if Spelivia is endgame. Grace’s character said one on them would have to die for them not to be. One said it would be the end of the show if not (true). All the characters have not doubt they are endgame. So if you don’t like them together don’t watch.
