Just a tip, if you want to be the Ferrari of lighting, spend the extra .50 cents for a female end and cap it off properly instead of putting electrical tape

I’m new to all this. Trying to learn. I’ve been wondering if plugging the wire into male/female plugs is truly safe? Also not sure on the amperage of these lights. How much amps can be on one outlet?

Great video man! This is what I do full time. One thing I like to do to save a ton of time is bring a measuring tape with me. I measure each run on the roof, and then pre clip, bulb and cut them down at the truck. That saves me from carrying the spool up on the roof with me. Another tip would be to jump wire as you go, clipping on lights that are already turned on ensures I’m not going back up on the roof to screw in bulbs that got loose. Now what I need to learn is how to get on your level in terms of Facebook ads! Keep on killin it man.

How much do you charge for a 1, 2, and 3 year lease? If the decide to only use you one time do they still keep the lights? If they decide to do a 2 or 3 year lease, are you only charging for installation at that point and how much? Thanks!

LED lights can be literally thousands of bulbs per line - it's all dependent on amperage. However, SPT2 you wouldn't want to really exceed 250 feet. You can definitely go longer than that, but would suggest not. 250 feet on a single line (including the jump line).

@@paulpersons799 $7-$10 per foot of lights if not more depending on area. Just because it's a bigger house doesn't mean it's any cheaper per foot. Add $1-$2/linear foot of gutter along the way

Hey so females can go in the middle of the line and it will feed power to the whole strand? Then I guess it’s normal to have a male down at the end of that strand to keep it going?

No way…the economy of scale rules here, my dude. You buy clips, bulbs, wire, and plugs all in bulk. And you’re just using what you need on each job and charging by the foot. The more supplies you buy in bulk the more you save on the supply end and the more you profit charging to the customer.

@dickedo42
@dickedo42 11 күн бұрын
super late to the party, but you "lease" the lights to them. Year 1 you charge $7-$10/ft. That covers the use of the lights. Year 2 thru whenever is $7/foot (or whatever you feel is appropriate for your area). Make sure in your lease agreement that the customer gets the $7/ft price so long as roofline doesn't change (i.e. they stay at the same house). Assuming you do a good job, this will all but guarantee they come back because they won't have to pay the upfront cost. After 3 years if the person doesn't want to continue the lease, they can purchase the lights (generally if someone used my service for 3 years I give them the product as they've spent usually thousands of dollars). It's definitely better if you buy the lights as you can guarantee the product you are getting is not 'big box' brands that are terrible by comparison. Utilize Christmas light emporium or business like that to buy in bulk. You can buy 1000ft light reals and bulk lights for significantly less. Good luck if you even still plan to go down the christmas light hanging path. It's easy to make a lot of money off of relatively minimal output

I had to pass up a job today because the house was massive. The LOWEST point on the roof you could access was 40ft high. Tallest house I've ever seen. I had no way to get up there safely without renting a lift or something, and I simply am not equipped yet to do that lol.

But, Toyota made $53 BILLION last year in profit, while Ferrari only made $900 million last year in profit. Toyota is actually 53x more profitable than Ferrari. Walmart made 143 billion in profit, while Target only made 8.9 billion. I'm just pointing out that, there is 100% something to be said for cheaper prices, and higher volume. Higher prices doesn't always mean you are maximizing your total yearly profit, sure maybe per job. But not necessarily per year. (The per car vs per year comparison of Ferrari vs Toyota for example)
@SpencerClaeys

Ferrari has way better MARGINS than toyota, yeah they sell less cars but they make way more percent than having to sell a billion cars and deal with all that.

Pretty sure every step of the process you show here is about as inefficiently done as possible lol definitely ripping people off if you're profiting $400/hour for this work. Also, you're suppose to split the wire before putting them into the plugs. If you look into the side that wire drops into, there's a piece of plastic that separates the two sides so that there is no possibility of touching and arching. And before end capping with electrical tape, you should split the wire and make them different length, for the same reason, to prevent arcing. Good luck, hopefully you don't burn a house down!
@dickedo42
@dickedo42 11 күн бұрын
lol oh man I was thinking the same thing. The electrical tape "capping" and the way he split the lines had me concerned for the homeowner. But he's not wrong with the price. I refuse to be ripped off by manual labor services like Christmas light hanging. In my area landscapers charge $10/foot for christmas lights. So for the 400 linear feet I wanted, it'd be $4,000. Instead I spent $700 and did everything myself, and have much better lights than most of these companies spend on materials. They'll last 10 years minimum.
