@AeonQuasar4 жыл бұрын
No one could anticipated the injury of VVD, though Gomez and Matip was a bit more obvious. Fabinho have proven himself to be a top class CB, even if it's not his primary position, so I say Liverpool went into this season with 4 natural CB. That Fabinho got injured as well was very bad luck. Liverpool also wanted to buy a CB, but their main targets was not availble. I feel this is the correct way to do business. They had enough options in case of a normal season that they didn't "need" to buy whatever the cost. If you don't get the one you want to the correct price then wait for the next time they are availble. If you panic buy someone because you need them for a limited time, you get stuck with someone you don't want. (The fans know it, the trainers know it, the opposition knows it, the player knows it) and that's bad for mentallity of the team. Also what to do when the team is out of injuries? Do you place the new player on the bench untill someone get injured again? You generally try to avoid changing too much in the defence as there is, so the options for play are limited. Also who in their right mind would willingly sign for Liverpool as a 4'th option? And somehow are also better than the ones that are already there as backups? Unless they are better the ones that already play there, but then you lose playtime for the ones you want to go for in the long run, in this case Gomez. A tricky situation.

@jacqamus4 жыл бұрын
@@layth6857 Personally I think Maguire gets way too much stick. People forget he made a big difference to Man Utd's defence for most of last season, playing with confidence and was a key leader and organiser at the back. He seemed (like many players) unprepared for the restart, and had been very active in organising and partaking in charity work which may have impacted his focus on Football. He was extensively mocked for his errors, which whether you agree with or not, must have been especially hard to take given he was beloved by his country a year prior (lockdown likely made it harder for players to ignore mockery and not dwell on their errors). Despite his poor form, I think he deserves praise for how he has carried on playing every game and remained captain of the team. I don't necessarily think he was worth the £80 million spent on him, but he's certainly shown himself to be a solid defender with a good head on his shoulders, something that's hard to come by in modern football. It's in the nations best interest to dispel this continuos mockery of Maguire as, regardless of which team you support, he has shown himself to be a great player for England when he is backed by the countries support. I hope he can get back to his best.
