Great content. I’ve always loved my watches and recently retiring after 30 years as a cop I’m starting to try to mend and clean up some of my collection. Loving the Arnie and your video was fascinating. Thank you.

I have the same watch. I bought my wife gave it to me for my b-day June of 1985. I’m glad I watched this because I was looking at getting it re-limed. Not any more!

Spencer, excellent restoration as always, another watch rescued from landfill, I really hope the original owner keeps the ghosted bezel, as it is the watches story

Been watching your videos last few days as been trying to get info on getting my 1990 H601 upside Arnie repaired that had battery leak after leaving it in draw since about 2015 as I got a smart watch. Got damage to the - battery connection which I can get a replacement of, have you ever done this job, as may need to send it to Seiko UK to fix. I know it’s not worth as much as an H588 but it’s got undamaged shroud, I have the Seiko books with it as I purchased in new in Dec 1990 in Singapore when I was a Royal Marine, so want to get it working. Your videos give me hope that it’s fixable. I’m also looking at buying the re issue Arnie too, as only just found out about it.

Finding this video a little late, and yes I was wondering how a flat bezel insert would fit into an inwards sloping bezel - I guess it doesn't really. Also might you be kind enough to show more detail on how to remove the crystal please?

Hello Spencer Are you still taking on repairs at this time? I would like to have my Seiko Arnie H558-5000 serviced and crystal replaced?

Excelent restoration. Spencer I have the same watch and is not working at all. I already try in Puerto Rico with the recommended Seiko retailers but they don’t have the parts. Where I can send the watch to you for the repair?

Great content! Thank you Spencer, I’m considering the Arnie reissue, can you tell me if the movement in the reissue is good quality like the original or is it all plastic with no jewels? Cheers, Jimmy.

Will seikos solar watches last as long as these quartz? I fancy an Arnie reissue but feel put off by solar. Great video by the way!

Probably longer, modern lcds last longer.

I would leave the insert, but I would have had the hands re-lumed as they let the watch down IMO

Great vlog. I'm getting parts together for my H558 Arnie. Just one question. My bezel is seized and was wondering if I should order a new spring and ball before handing the watch over to my watchmaker? It's going in for a full resto here in Australia.
@SpencerKleinVintageWatch5 жыл бұрын
When I see these with locked-up bezels, it's due to grot and filth. I haven't ever seen one due to the click ball. Only one comes to mind that had any click ball issues at all, and that one the top of the ball was rusted off. Every other one was fine once it was cleaned up.
@TheVellaterra5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the reply Spencer. On your advice I will hold on the ball and spring for now. I bought a new seal kit and crystal and will get my H558 fully serviced. I live several hours away from the watchmaker and am happy to drive the distance to get the watch looked at by someone who has had experience with this make. He is a young guy in a small country town in Victoria, just inside the boarder from NSW. He first inspected the watch and just changed the battery and advised the overall condition was excellent. Trust is a big thing. I have been following your blog in recent weeks and your tuition is honest and second to none. Thank you.
