Just being around people helps even if you don't talk to them much. I'm a remote worker and after 2 years of WFH I was getting depressed and antsy. So I started going to the library to work instead and it's helped my mental health a lot. I don't usually talk to the people there since everyone is kinda busy reading or studying and I'm an introvert but I see a lot of the same faces and it's kinda nice.

Hello happy Sunday! I am by myself pretty much now that my husband passed away a few years ago and I am older and I make it a point every time I go to a store or market or anything to engage with at least one person there if I feel like maybe seeing something funny or just any kind of positive comment can spark a small conversation. Usually people look pleasantly surprised and will engage a little. I don’t want it to be weird it’s just nice to have a brief conversation with someone and maybe laugh a little bitI have always been on the shy side but as I get older I like to engage with people and make the first move as far as conversation goes.

I have to say, I totally agree about your opinion on volunteering to help combat loneliness. Altruism truly does make you feel more hopeful and positive about life. I’ve been single for a little over two years now, and I was with my previous partner for seven years and the one before that for three. So I’ve definitely had to do some adjusting, but I am finding myself feeling more fulfilled single, and doing things that I know are good for me and others than I ever did in my unhappy relationships. And I’m truly appreciative for people like you, and all of the other creators I follow, definitely help fill a void and make me feel not so alone. And I imagine I’m not the only one that feels that way.

I 100% agree with you about our need for contact and interaction with other people. This is a separate need from actual friendship. The pandemic really highlighted this for me. Sometimes I just want to be around other people and sharing in the same activity and having casual interactions and chatting, even if I don't necessarily feel like talking to a friend. This is why I especially enjoy my yoga class, but also more mundane activities like grocery shopping, walking my dog through the neighborhood, going to a park, reading in a library. It is a feeling of COMMUNITY that is separate from FRIENDSHIP: the knowing that we are all part of the same community, whether moving through the same yoga poses, or shopping for food that sustains us, chatting with people at the grocery store, or eating in a restaurant with our friends or family. It makes us feel like part of something greater. I don't personally volunteer right now because I am very busy with my 14 and 16 year olds, but that is definitely something I would love to do in the future (like in a library), because I also think this would foster a spirit of community, giving, and being part of something bigger than myself.

I had an elderly neighbor that had to go into assisted living back in early June. She had some falls. I miss seeing her but the place she went to is nice and she has more opportunities to socialize because she enjoys talking to people, so I'm glad. Enjoyed the vlog. Happy Sunday.🌞🌸

How did we live back in the day without air conditioning? No one had A/C when I was growing up. You played outside, took a bath, and sweated through the night laying by a window. I guess we were acclimated to it as were our parents. Still wearing either Neutrogena Purescreen Tinted sunscreen or Bondi Sands. Thanks to you, I know what products work for me! My job is very social… I have to be very “on” with my patients. so I prefer limiting social situations when I can lol. Like grocery store. But also having children, I have to be social with the fam. So I appreciate all the things that allow me to not socialize directly! Maybe I’d feel differently if I had a more similar situation to you. Which, I do view your lifestyle a great luxury. Work via social media. Living alone, unmarried, able to do what you want completely on your schedule. I can see how it could end up being an isolating thing on the flip side. So it’s good seeing you in the stores frequently and out and about. As many KZbinrs, living the dream life you never knew you could!

Dr. Dray, I'm lovin' your more casual approach and letting yr sense of humor show, while still dispensing the best skincare advice on YT. Speaking of humidity and water in the air: I grew up in N.J. and my hair looked great and y skin never felt dry. Then, in high school we moved to northern Calif (which is far less humid than NJ), and I noticed that my hair and skin became dry. The humidity might be a pain (no one likes to feel drippy), but I'm convinced that it helps keep yr skin (and hair) more moist! The drawback to living in a cold winter environment, however, is that the house heat runs more often and that probably contributes to drier skin. What do you think?

It’s a holiday weekend here in Canada and the weather on the west coast is gorgeous. Not too hot. You are my go-to for understanding all the lotions and potions out there and their ingredients and interactions. I love all the detailed information and it’s allowed me to fine tune my skin care process. I’m a big proponent of sunscreen and covering up and at 62 my skin has benefited. Thank you!

Gold Bond has some really good moisturizers. I'm loving the retinol body cream!! I just bought the Cerave face wash. Although I dont wear makeup often, I do wear sunscreen and am hoping this helps remove it. I was using micellar water but my face has not been happy with it so I'm hoping this cleanser will help.

Natural colloidal oatmeal (oatmeal crushed in a coffee grinder) combined with sodium bicarbonate cured most of my atopic dermatitis, as well as certain moisturizing creams and better food routines (+ water, + good oils). I'm treating my mom with that paste 2 times a week and her skin is so smooth.

I've also been starting to apply the Bondi Sands SPF50 (the 150ml a.k.a the one marketed for the body) on my face. It stings my eyes like crazy, but it is fast absorbing, doesn't cause any negative reaction on the skin, and I also like the dewy/shiny finish.

You are totally right about the isolation and how screen time and the way we communicate attributes to that. I really worry about my husband and myself as we are pretty introverted already. My mother (96) who was always an extrovert with lots going on all the time, many different friend groups and participating in many activities well into her 80s has now lost most of her friends and family as well as her hearing and memory. She is so lonely even if we see her a lot. It's a real shame but so hard to combat.

I love the bondi Sands sunscreen face cream. I have medium dark skin and the cream absorbs immediately without a white cast. It's really light too. I love the face spray even more though. The fact that I can spray it on over my make up is the best thing.

The Gold Bond Vit C lotion is nice, but it has a very strong orange scent. It fades after a little while, but I prefer not dealing with such a strong smell, so I returned it. I do love their retinol lotion. I'll try some of their other ones that you recommend.

Imagine here in Greece in my parents house we have a big dehumidifier and man it fills up quite fast to be honest (like if i empty it morning at the end of the day is full 😅😂). I also like a good beach 🌴 🚶 walk especially when the sun has set and the heat is not so intense. Thank God AC makes the intense heat tolerable. Shout out from someone who's been watching your channel since before you incorporated so much color into your wardrobe! I have to say, I really love the Bondi Sands sunscreens. In summer, I use the SPF 50 on my body, but because I wear sunscreen under my clothes every day of the year, I have to give a shout out to the SPF 30 body sunscreen as well, which I wear on days I'm in the office and not out in the sun very much. It is extremely lightweight and for me it's even more comfortable to wear than most of my moisturizers! Just melts into the skin! And it really works, even after I've washed my hands lightly. If you've got kids who hate wearing sunscreen, try this one. Also, thanks for talking about loneliness and social isolation, particularly how devastating it is for older adults. So, for anyone who may be reading this, please take a moment to check in with the older adults in your life, especially those who are not allowed to drive and may be dealing with health issues. Just chatting with someone for a few minutes can make a HUGE difference in an older adult's life.

I bought the Gold Bond Vitamin C lotion after you did your very first rave review about the Retinol since the store was out of it. Have subsequently tried the Retinol lotion as well. The C is a lighter, less creamy texture compared to the Retinol which feels heavier to me, No issues with the fragrance/ingredients in the C. Love both equally and love seeing HOU on repeat get so amped about Gold Bond!

I have been using the Gold Bond Age Renew Retinol Face/Body Lotion since I saw you rave about it months ago and it has made a huge difference for me in both skin texture and evening out skin tone from hyperpigmentation, etc. I use it on my face and don’t get any irritation from it and then for body I have smoothness on arms etc. Definitely going to continue purchasing this product, I have used up one tube and I’m close to the end of the second.
