First off, your base building and pace of storytelling is amazing. Second, I am not certain how much you want tips or if you want to learn more as your go so feel free to skip this "second" paragraph. If you break leaves before cutting down a tree you have a chance of getting seeds. Unlike Minecraft, you have to manually break the leaves. However, you can forge metal shears which will break them faster as well as in a small 3x3 cube, so more leaves at once. Collecting seeds and planting nearby might make your wood collecting a bit easier as they regrow. Last, just an adorable detail: if you bake bread or pies you can watch the dough rise pixel by pixel as it bakes.
@shadowking79209 ай бұрын
if you bake them right they will give more food saturation and number increase then raw bread. If you burn them they will give less but will last a long time. later on if you want to add modes on there mod store in the sight you can make flint lock guns just like the founding fathers wanted
@TimmyTwoNipples9 ай бұрын
Okay I THOUGHT I was seeing things when I watched the bread bake, looked like it was bubbling almost! Very cool detail :) I have a pair of shears but I was using it on 1x1 bushes, very good to know it cuts more than 1! Thank you :)

Forge a wrench and you can turn the plaster blocks to look even better by adjusting the diagonals. (But you've already chiseled is, so that'll make it more difficult!)

Rooftop crops: genius. Beams around leaded windows: genius. Your build is going to be incredible! If you have primitive survival mod installed, there is a block called the particulator (sp?) that will basically make it so your fire looks like it burns all the time. Perfect for the fireplace :) (also I think its time you graduated all your lights to proper lanterns instead of torches lol watching you carry a torch in the rain gives me so much anxiety)
@TimmyTwoNipples9 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I was placing torches under blocks to work outside, it was getting annoying lol I built a few lanterns but I definitely need to get my helve hammer up and running to produce some more :)

Hadn't really thought to do something like that before, but that sure is a cool way to get around, and it looks neat, too - your base in general is really coming along! I agree that the curved look of the support beams add so much.. great episode, enjoyed it a lot ^^

some things with the automated quern: if you take copper (i think it needs solder as well, can't recall) and make hoppers and chutes, you can make it automatically output the grinding products to storages. You could put a vessel down out of the elements and have the flour automatically put into it. You could also use the same method with the addition of an archimedes screw to move materials you want to grind up into it without having to go up there yourself. If you find some halite you can also use it in the quern to make salt, which can be used to preserve meats and vegetables as well as to make cheese. also, with the lantern you found, another benefit of those is they actually don't go out if you have them in your hand and take a dip in the water, unlike torches. so they're great for exploring flooded caves and the like. you can also add a gold or silver plate to it to bump up its light level by 2. lastly, the clay ovens need to be preheated by putting firewood inside them and lighting that. the residual heat can then be used to bake the bread.
@TimmyTwoNipples9 ай бұрын
VERY good to know, I'll definitely be playing with grain-flour automation. Really want to make a big farm next spring :)
@entropic-decay9 ай бұрын
personally, one of my favorite things to do with plaster when building and chiseling is to just use the plaster without any beams as an outer layer on top of cobblestone or bricks, only being a layer or two of chisel voxels thick, and then having little cracks showing the stone underneath. gives a good sense of depth i think. and then on the inside having custom chiseled plank edges and such giving the impression of supports and a chase around the base of the wall.

Support beams are used for supporting blocks that would normally go down due to gravity. Now in vanilla settings blocks do have gravity and you have a change of having a cave in so while mining you can put support beams inside the cave so that it doesn't crush you.
