@@Neobluelightning I looked into Scarlet Blade back in the days, but quit it when they wanted you to spend $200 per week to get a limited edition underwear each week. Of course you could play for free, but that would block you out of these costumes, and the bonuses, and the enchantment materials, and so on, leaving you with a grind fest. That and they censored the 19 year old girl because she was younger than the 20 year old girls so she was problematic.

I'm like 400 hours into star citizen and love it. Its not buying a game as much as it is crowd source development. No EA to shoe horn in loot boxes or expedited release dates. I have made it my hobby over the past 3 years and love it. To date I have donated 1005 dollars. Compared to runescape which I joined in 2002 and I was member for about 8 years at an avg of 7 dollars per month.

Train Simulator didn't cut out content though. And they have a freaking ton... It's real simple, if they don't charge you don't get new content. If they charge and they make a ton of content, it can get pretty expensive over time, yes, but life is expensive... I don't play it, but I assume the people that play it and love it, really appreciate getting continued new content on a regular basis. This is nothing like EA and lootboxes. That's not content, that's leeching people for made up items. Wrong bandwagon. Look up Iracing and the cost of cars and tracks. That one I do play. Yes, you're new and want everything right away, it costs a ton. If you've played for 8 years, you're very happy you get continued, regular and supported content.

@8bit NES Cutscene Well, AT FIRST that model seemed fair - game needs funding, so please give us something and we will give you a nice ship after release. Problem is, those days are long gone and game become centered arround selling you another overpriced junk - warbonds, forced specializations, anti-consumer shit like that. Train Simulator is a lot more fair, even if total cost seems ridiculous - they just add new trains every few months, but the base game is still more or less the same (they just change year in title every year). With that model you have the biggest game about trains ever, instead of samey sequels every two years with changed machines. It's like Crusader Kings 2 - when you see total cost of the game without any promotion it seems ridiculusly high, but what you're missing is that this game is eight (!) yeears old and since then it gets 1-2 major expansion pack (along free DLC in patches), that deepens the game. It's better way than making the same game every five years and then making exactly the same expansion packs, like in The sims case.

The only real problem with this comparison though is that when star citizen launches, you will be able to acquire all those ships in game so you don’t actually need to shell out that kind of money to get all the ships you want. Most of these other games you have to shell out the cash to get the stuff you want, otherwise you will never be able to get them, or in the rare case that you can, it takes way longer to get than it should.

@@77Asilaydying we'll see, because CIG became famous for changing their minds and creating new bullshit interpretation of the old rules when it suits them. For example, they no longer say that after release "ships for money dissapear", because "there wont be release, just constant updates!" and "they want to gives us options". We'll see how long we will have to grind to get some stuff and how they'll handle more exotic stuff like 350R's and 890 jumps. They already forced us to grind one ship multiple times, because hornets components arent fully interchangable anymore, same story with 300i, auroras and other ships from the first waves.

At least that's been my experience with beard oil. I use it at least three times a week in order to keep my beard looking fresh. Some people use it everyday. I know others who don't use it at all. I think it's an essential if you have a beard.

Semideiapranomedecanal I agree but for the most part it's positive. Go and play HOI4 stock, then load up all the expansions. The game is still better than release due to all the free content and patches but the expansions really tie the room together. It kind of reminds me of Star Wars. No one except the original movie goers have ever seen the original theatrical release. Every single video release or cinema reahowing has had stuff added. Not even the original VHS is the same. It was a one time experience and by all accounts it was the perfect edit and only gotten worse with each edition. I guess kind of opposite to Star Wars then as Paradox games get better not worse.

Its a niche product. Expected sales are measured in the hundreds for some of these add-ons. The fixed cost of development has to be covered by the small sales volume, so the price is high.

I think simulators are the only games I can really justify DLC like this for. Be it train simulator, DCS World or any other number of detailed sims, getting ahold of some of this stuff and modeling everything out is insanely difficult. In the case of DCS world, all the planes are modeled inside and out exactly like they are in real life with all the controls, computers and munitions working exactly how they should irl. In the case of DTGs train sim, all the controls are mapped out, routes lidar scanned into the game, all computer functions, alert systems and other features are included, with the machines specs realistically represented. This includes trains from Canada, the US, the UK, Germany, Austria etc, and getting ahold of a 300,000lb plus piece of machinery, including some that are rare or not even in service anymore, is no small task. So shelling out 20$ for a locomotive or 60-100$ for an airplane etc doesn’t seem like that big of an issue to me.

Sim DLC is very expensive to create so yes, it will always be more expensive to do serious Sims compared to your average Minecraft clone :D.

Dovetail steal your money! All the DLC should be included! I think it’s embarrassing that Dovetail charge such a shit ton of money for 1 game, and good on you for going with your heart and playing your dream game! All TS2020 content is outrageously expensive, as it just robs us all blind! They should make it free and included with the game, and just charge more like $60 for the game. I would rather have a few ads than have to spend £1000 on DLC for just one game!!!!

Can I just start by saying there is no embarrassment in buying something to run train games that expensive, it's a fairly demanding game and the reward of that realistic simulator feeling is priceless. I would spend that money if I had it, stuck on xbox with train sim world at the minute, best game simulator I've played personally. When it's your hobby your investing in its worth it to know your buying a good system to cover your back! Well done mate 👍

@The Legend of Texas the old Audis had great handling, but yeah, they were just a box on wheels, no style. The older Benzs looked classic, but they were family cars, not corner carvers. A old diesel Benz would be cool, I like that low rpm torque.

We can look at a game called Lords Mobile... where ONE hero costs $11,000, there are three of them. Oh and multiple other pay to win heroes, which will cost another 5-10k to max them all out. On top of that, to get maximum champ gear, it will cost at least another 5-10k. To get Max power troops within 6 months, it will cost about 1k... but they don't mean anything without champ gear. Every update that they do is another pay to win update, which in order to maintain any kind of advantage or keep up will usually cost another 5-10k
