Thanks for posting, Jay! Amazing how far you can see in some of those, more or less, 'treeless' areas. Here in the PNwest, we treasure the high points so we can look out over the 'sea of trees'! Plus lots of underbrush along with it... but some of those bushes HAVE BLUEBERRIES!! After watching the vid, I pulled up G Maps, and surprised even myself, but within 10 minutes I found the exact spot you were camped at, and the RV you mentioned parked there. Off of Red Grade Road, right?? #26. Looks like there is actually a small sub-division of about 15 homes just to the south of your campsite. Those people know how to 'social distance'!! Enjoyed the travelvlog, so keep 'em comin', Bud! Ed

Yeah, weird that houses were right there. It's quite a drive to get down to town. It must be nice though. I think a ton of those RVs just sit there... not sure what the rules are that allow it.

@@JayWandersOut Hi, Jay.... This is the area I was referring to: www.google.com/maps/@44.6129877,-107.1029007,1515m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en Looks like almost all the sites have at least a garage, or barn/pole building, or house. Definitely not abandoned RVs....

My first one of the milky way! I was glad it came out ok. It takes forever to process all the photos and video.

Thanks for a beautiful video and reminding me of a backpacking trip I did there several years ago with a friend from Rapid City. It was in early September and on the third day it began to snow and we cut our trip short. Good things because the area got about a foot of snow. I look forward to your journeys westward.

I wouldn't want to drive down the road to Big Horn with snow on it! Steep with huge drop offs.

Nice video. Excellent time-lapse & drone footage. Your narration is really good. But it would be better if you kept the camera off your face & let the land be the story. Also, if you edited in a more detailed map or 2, it would improve the video. Keep up the good work!!

Love dispersed camping in National Forests, get lots of alone time that way since most people don't do it. Great footage again. ATB

This NF is so big and there are so many off road trails there is a ton of places to go as well. It's a pretty sweet area and I was glad I decided to spend more time there.

Hi Jay, how are you liking your drone now that you've had some time with it? How does it handle wind? Still enjoying your videos, thanks for sharing.
@JayWandersOut4 жыл бұрын
I try not to fly it on super windy days but at Black Mountain I tried to have it sit still and film me but you can totally see it wobbling back and forth against the wind. I think it was safe for the drone but for really good footage it's best to avoid any sort of strong gusts so you get that smooth video drones can get. Overall I still really enjoy it.

Another beautiful place visited. Interesting footage. Do you use any off-road navigation like Gaia or Garmin? Do you carry any recovery gear in your 4Runner? You mentioned rain at one part. I like the shot of the stars in the sky. I never believed that you could see satellites until I saw it myself. Thanks Jay!

Yes, I use mostly Google Maps with downloaded maps and some Gaia. I also have Earthmate installed which is the same app that connects to my InReach but it also provides maps for download to use offline all for free. Gaia has public land maps though in case there's any doubt where I am allowed to camp or not. I have a 30' 15ton recovery strap, a hitch receiver with shackle, and 2 soft shackles. That's it though. I'll need someone's help if I get stuck. Someday I'll get a winch but I figure I'll do it when I have to replace the front bumper for some reason.
