As a native american, thank you for standing up for us. My father has always seen himself as a straight white male. He hates any race not white. He hates gay people. Had you been remotely near me, you would have been more than welcome to have dinner with me and my mother. My mother has grown so much in such a short time. It took me 31 years to come out of the closet out of fear. My father had said if any of his son's were gay he would literally take us into the woods and shoot us like a sick animal. Even after I cut him out of my life I feared him. He's the only person in my life who ever made me physically afraid. It came to a head 4 years ago. I hated myself so much that I just wanted to end it. I am glad I didn't most days. All that being said, I'm sorry you father is a big bag of diseased dicks and family doesn't always involve genetics. Well said and very appreciated that you shared personal experience. My family is very religious and strict and it took me a long time to come out to them. I didn't until I was in my thirties and they have never mentioned it since & choose to ignore it and pretend like I never said it. They just avoid talking about my personal life. I have found a lot of support from goodfriend's and people I have recently met. So true that we do not choose our family but I have met some really good people that have become my family. So it's good that we support each other 😉❤🙂👍🏼

STOP trying to please the man. A real Father would be empathetic to a Son"s battles and everyday needs. The only leverage you have is your presence...or your absence. Taylor, you are a bright young man with a bright future ahead of you. If I may suggest, you should try to "release" your father from the pedestal by understanding where you have come to despite the fact that your father may have had a massive influence on you and your siblings. See the limitations your father obviously endures and understand that you are already way ahead of him in terms of social abilities, empathy and probably even life experience, although only being 19 then, 21 by now. It might very well be that he feels the advantage you have and sees you as a threat more than a son he needs to care for. I am sure if he was honest with himself he'd be able to show the love he feels for you. Obviously there is so much to love about you. That's why you'll find your way becoming a happy and successful man both in life and professionally. All the best to you.

You're an honest and sweet young man; you'll go far, without a doubt. But your father wouldn't care to spend four hours arguing with you if he didn't love you. We all have limitations that we won't outgrow--basic differences of opinions that may evolve, but may not. My father was constantly disappointed in me and I was naïve and purposeless until the day he died; that was many years ago. Lately, I've examined that relationship and I wish I had the chance to go back and find those things that we could have shared and to have let the rest just go. Good luck to both you and to your dad.

Taylor, From the time I was a small child, every single holiday was ruined by my parents eventually getting in an argument. What did I learn? When you feel an argument starting (and especially the ones that eventually are going to involve you) . . . LEAVE! You don't need to say one more thing, you don't need to explain what you're doing, you don't need to explain why. Just leave. If you stay, you will eventually say something that later you will feel bad about, or the need to apologize for . . . which is then accepted as they were right and you were wrong. Don't open up to that . . . just leave, before it ever gets that far, leave. Did he actually share anything with you that you didn't know already? So what was the point? Did you need substantiation? My feeling is that you felt you had something that YOU needed to say. Certainly you knew that you weren't going to change his mind about anything. Was this your opportunity to tell him who YOU were? Was it worth it? What about the rest of the family? How did it affect them? What happened to their Thanksgiving? Let it go, Taylor. Forgive, forget, and let it go. You have so many people who love you just the way your are . . . for who you are. I am only one of the many. Love you, Happy Thanksgiving . . . . 💕

I'had the same type of arguments with my dad. He also left us to move in with his GF and got a divorce. I never was close to him and always wanted to be a better man than he was. Economically, he was not a success and I find myself in the same boat today. Being gay, I would never seek to break up a family. He had ethical lapses and very conservative views that I disagreed with. In time you and he might mellow out but my dad became more conservative. I never had arguments about gays or gay rights because in the 1960's we never discussed the possibility of a gay relationship. It was against the law in Florida and also there was no LGBT support group. If you had come out your parents would have taken you to a homophobic shrink. I never was very close to him and went to live with my mother, he raised me. Marriage might be forever but still over 50% end in divorce and today many people do not marry for a long time or at all. You might look at thinkgs differently when you get to be 40 or 50 and older. I used to be very conservative in my political views but today am very liberal. I am so pleased that you have opinions on such things at all. Many are not interested in much but the latest internet game, football or the Kardashians. Sorry your Thanksgiving was not a good one. Try to remember that your mom and dad are the only folks that probably love you and your mom probably unconditionally. Hope you Xmas turns out better. Glad you and your bro seem to be close.

"Friends are the family we meet along the way" Do you have any idea how much good you are in this world ?? Sure your father can have his decisions & you have yours. If you were my son, boyfriend, lover or friend I would be so thankful. I spent Thanksgiving with my friends in Argentina. I chose NOT to be with my brother & sister. Sure I don't have a partner & I've been discriminated against but I know that I'm a good person. I agree almost 99% with you always: Marriage is special; its for life. Our election system is broken but that is how it is today. Things change: believe me. I'm so proud that everything you have has come from yourself. Money is a weird issue anyway... its better not even to go there. Politics, well, do you really think you can change a racist's mind?? NO.... I didn't think so.... the most important thing is that you are Gay & Proud. You are a super role model in any genre. Is there a Gay agenda? I wish that I could understand it because its always been a mystery to me. I don't like to play games: who has time for Gay drama? I've been doing "my own thing" since I was 24. I don't want to try to change anyone: it never seems to work out. What's important also is that you're honest. Thank you, love, hugs & many good thoughts go OUT to you from me. Take care... talk later, I'm thankful for you Taylor, yes YOU !!! Rob : ) San Diego

Taylor, I'm enjoying my hamburger & fries along with you too! Thankful for you - and I feel the frustration! How do we be Tolerant, Accepting, Loving, to others/family who have same opinions as your father or some of my relatives?

Taylor, I know this is late, (it is now 2020) but I wish you all the best. I hope things are better now. I have seen shallow little queens post videos about decorating, grooming and other superficial things. But you have shown us integrity and courage--it takes both to stand up to the insensitive bullies of the world. Just remember you don't stand alone. WE ARE YOUR FAMILY! 💖👍🌹

You are an important voice for people like us. I'm so grateful for your generation to stand up and speak for our community that continues to be attacked by extremists with their hateful rhetoric that leads to physical violence. We are but 10% (I thinks it's more quite honestly) but we are in the minority nonetheless. I'm 56 and have been advocating for LGBTQ+ rights in the workplace since I was in my early 20s. I never lost it or gotten tired of speaking out. And to see you and so many others continue our plight makes me so proud of where I stand as a gay man in our diverse and beautiful LQBTQ+ community.

I am sorry that you had to spend thanksgiving alone. this is the first video that I have watched and I turned the notifications on. i know how if feels to be considered invalid to members of your own family and it just down right sucks. I hope that you ended up having a good thanksgiving and enjoying the alone time.

Today is March 23, 2021. I am so sorry to see this video today. I sure do hope that your father has realized how cruel he was to you and how much what he said hurt you. I am glad that you left the house. Though I hope that he came around at some point but I'm not encouraged. Your standing for those who are beaten shows me what kind of a truly good guy you are. I'm 66, gay, white, with a family that has embraced me and my husband. 2020 brought us covid-19, which has damaged the world, more psychologically than physically [for those who did not die]. We're all in states of depression and the world is upside down. I hope that you are alive and are living with a boyfriend or husband. Best wishes for the future!
