True, this also matches the stars being red, as red dwarfs last upon 1000000s of years, possibly the last light source in the universe, red dwarfs are stars, also would like to see this as a full on mod, like an universal paradox/apocalypse

I think of this as more of a dark vision Mario gets shown by Rosalina about what will happen if Bowser isn't stopped, while also being a warning from Nintendo about what will happen if the game isn't bought legitimately. I don't think it takes place in the distant future because the planets don't seem decayed enough, but you're welcome to your opinion.

Oh wow! That was sort of sweet! I love that the game explains how the player’s piracy is harmful to the developers, and isn’t overly cruel or scary! It even gives you the option to play a very limited amount, or go! I love it! Wonderful job!

i think it is still pretty unnecessarily scary - things like the unavoidable deaths, calling the first star "Dino Piranha's Death" and playing sad music or none at all with spooky red skies is pretty bleak and would probably be upsetting for someone who thought they had a legitimate copy, especially as a kid i think it'd be cute if it was more just a very limited demo with that earnest message and some encouragement to buy the game and play it legally instead of doing all that. but i get that fake piracy screens tend to be pretty creepypasta-ish and this is tamer than a lot of other things like that, and the effort put in to it is really cool no matter how you look at it

This is one of the more heartwarming ones even though it's just a mod. Most games actually don't have anti-piracy measures, the only real one being DKC2 which just says an anomaly was detected but this is just an error message related to a crash and to protect the game and the console.

What makes Mario Galaxy so unique is the different colored Stars. Mario Odyssey has different colored moons but they don't feel as special when you collect them because there are so many of them. But Mario Galaxy they only have a couple different green stars and one red star which makes it so special.
