Even before this DLC and the immigration bug, I've had playthroughs with odd immigrations. I once played an America playthrough where North Dakota was 90 percent Bedouin, and a Minnesota with a third of the people from China. I also had a Macao playthrough where I kept getting people from all over the world to stuff themselves into the city. I ended up with so many people that i was second in the world in population by the 1880s. And since I was part of the Austrian economic sphere, I needed only to make factories, which I couldn't build fast enough. The snowballing stwrted during the civil war in China thst had people flooding in from both sides.

@andrasfogarasi50145 ай бұрын
Enjoy microing the influence mechanic. Sphering is an important part of that Victoria 2, after all. It's what allows goods to be sold once and bought multiple times, which is a totally intended mechanic designed by PDX's great minds in 2010. Foreign investment? Yeah, Victoria 2 has foreign investment. The only reason it makes sense to engage with it though is that country treasuries are practically bottomless after a couple decades due to governments having nothing to spend it on. Who wants to worry about money in an economy simulation game? I just want to click the construct button in every state 8 times. Whoops, I've accidentally caused a global concrete shortage that will last until the end of the game. Silly me. 100% realistic simulation.
@scottgrey33375 ай бұрын
@@andrasfogarasi5014 You seem to be shadowboxing with someone completely different on the internet. I brought up no argument besides that I've played Vicky 2 before and likely will again, and that having watched the current state of Vicky 3, both within the expansion and beyond, I don't feel interested in getting the game. So yes, I will enjoy playing Vicky 2 again.

No, I'm pretty sure 1.7 is a step away from Victoria 2. In Victoria 2, capitalists were tied to live in the same state as their factories, just like in previous versions of Victoria 3. But now with 1.7, we have capitalists owning industries remotely, which allows for a much superior imperialism experience, as the profits of an economic empire flow back into overlord's country. This also allows us to use foreign investment as a tool of exploitation instead of what it was in Victoria 2, which was what again? Oh right. The abuse of an exploit. The usefulness of the sphere market system in Victoria 2 relies entirely on the exploit that it causes goods within it to become buyable multiple times. What a wonderful game that is currently in a perfectly balanced and bug-free state. Also, on the topic of spheres. Has anyone ever managed to sphere more than a few minor nations through the influence mechanic? No, they have not, because the influence system is incredibly micro-intensive. It is also unfun, because the AI is leagues better than humans at said micro. As I said, Victoria 2 is a wonderful game. Total failure on PDX's part that Victoria 3 has failed to live up to it.

Foreign investment? It takes multiple DLCs for them to add a feature which was already in the former game and should have been in Vic3 from launch? I really want this game to do better. Even though I don't think the military side of it will ever be as good as if they kept micro in, the economic side of it could at least be better. At this rate however, I anticipate at least another year before it's actually a decent bit better than vic2. My disappointment is immeasurable.

Also if you export a lot of goods purposefully into neighbouring(neighboring countries are best because you dont need convoys for trade), their workers are very likely to start a civil war. I once managed to make a russian protectorate(I did the same as you forcing him to liberate a lot of nations to stop it being great power) as supergermany because I rushed for quick fertilizer techs and begun to massproduce grain and export it to the backwards countries with strong aristocrats. I even held on to subsidising my farmers so they could kept producing grain constantly, and at one point I have been producing double the amount of gain the Qing could. The cost of the grain in backwards countries were at lowest it could be due to my subsidised imports into them, making their farmers poor and radical. And due to their landowners having +20% political power their aristocratic/peasant revolts were so massive that almost any backwards country I had imported grains on completely accepted to become my protectorate if I save them. My guide is to tech up to advanced fertilisers, farm up your provinces and massproduce grain. Then start to improve relations with backwards countries and export to them your cheap grain. Next step is to wait for a civil war and offer your help in exchange for protectorance. Then enjoy peaceful expansion with below 50 infamy.
