In this video I explain how to build my Sphinx 27" flying wing. If build without laminate and a 1000mAh 3S Lipo, this plane is under the 250 gram FAA limitation.

This is a great wing. I got one from Flight Fest 2016 for my 9 year old.I let him build it he had a great tine.I put a Turnigy 2826/2200KV -30 amp esc - 1550 battery and an Orange R615x RX total weight is 560 gram. Probably a tad bit heavy ,But I used what I had around. Some build advice 1: Score the inside of wiglets so glue has a rough surface to stick 2: I used Blaze Plastic dip spray. This is by far the best way to color a wing, I tried colored tape,Fusion paint, Plastic dip spray has be the best to apply , it's the lightest and holds up the best. It was applied after the Laminate 3: I used Scotch extreme tape on the leading edge + 3 strips from top towards motor top and bottom. other than that I wish I had bought more to try to build lighter.

Good advice! Indeed plasti-dip works well. Also, great advice on scoring the winglets! I never thought of that.

Is there a forum on this on fpvlabs or somewhere? If so can you give a link? Thank you.

Link on where to buy? And please do a video about your hot wire gun, that thing is so awesome!
@CAGreve12318 жыл бұрын
I released it at FliteFest. I actually sold every unit I took with me after winning a quad race with it (go figure, right?). In any case, this will be sold by: Stone Blue Airlines, Get FPV, and Ready Made RC. They should be in stock by the first week of August for $50.

I will make a video on the cutting gun. It is an awesome tool and takes all of 1 minute and $30 to make.

Thanks, I'm definitely getting one of these bad boys.

Ok, so I got this kit from you the other day at the Cflfpv meet. I was going to run 3s but, now I am curious... I want to see how fast i can get this thing. Any recomindations on fastest setup.

Ask Aerial Visions. Hugo's does over 100mph. I don't know what he has in it, though.

Where can I get that?

Alex, how will this handle for fpv racing. I know it will be a rocket, but how is the stability?
@CAGreve12318 жыл бұрын
Stable enough for me to race against a bunch of quadcopters through gates and win. I can run the multi GP tsunami course with it through the 5X5 gates so long as there is little wind.

Sorry if this is a noob question, but I haven't built anything in EPP yet, so what type of glue are you using in this video?
@CAGreve12318 жыл бұрын
It comes with welder adhesive

Yes where is the link so we can buy this? Can't wait for release. Regards, Pete.

I actually released it at Flite Fest and sold out of them. Stone Blue Airlines should have them by the end of the week. Depending on ordering, ReadyMade might have them by the first of next week. GetFPV is a little slower but should have them by the first week of August.

How big is the bay, and what kind of motor are you recommending? I assume 1400mah 4S is too big.
@CAGreve12318 жыл бұрын
The bay can take a 1400/4S. Balance it out with a 2206/1900kV motor and a 5" prop. This will be a good, solid performer.

+Video Aerial Systems What kind of motor/battery are you running?
@Mattwonga8 жыл бұрын
how do i mount the motor? there is 2 wood plates, in the video it goes from no motor to instant motor installed lol
@CAGreve12318 жыл бұрын
There is a supplied motor mount that is pretty obvious. Just glue it on the plane and bolt up the motor. One fits an "X" mount and the other fits directly on the motor depending on how you want to mount it.

My wing is uniqe as its one piece of hand carved blue foam. Rgus very very strong.

Alex, you should have told me about this at Flite Fest! When is the release?
@CAGreve12318 жыл бұрын
I sold them all! I won the MultiGP beginner quad race with it. They bent the rules a little to allow me to race it (I still had to fly through the gates, though). Thus, I need to cut more. Stone Blue Airlines will have this in stock in a week, probably. Just need to fire up the foam cutter and get working.
@knight9078 жыл бұрын
+Video Aerial Systems Why did they need to bend the rules to allow you to race this? As far as I can tell, it meets all the published rules of the Mini Spec Wing class.
@CAGreve12318 жыл бұрын
It isn't a multirotor. I was racing in a multirotor race ;) It is indeed multiGP spec mini-wing legal.

What size servos are you using on this?
@CAGreve12318 жыл бұрын
9 gram metal gear servos on this model.
@gondras1238 жыл бұрын
Awesome, Thank you!
@knight9078 жыл бұрын
Where can you buy 9g metal gear digital servos? I realize you didn't specify digital, but isn't that important on an aircraft this small? I've only been able to find 1, an FMS, but nobody shows any specifications for it and no one has ever reviewed it, so the fact that it's called a "9g digital metal gear servo" is the only thing I know for sure about it.
@CAGreve12318 жыл бұрын
Admittedly, I like analog servos. Call me old fashioned, but they seem to be much better for my purposes. A good cheap servo is the corona 939MG ANALOG (digital is crap!). EMax also has a nice metal gear servo.

With a name like Sphinx, this is begging for a Venture Bros themed paint job.
