I wonder how long it would take the ESP32 to compress the image to JPG and send that smaller image file over to the PC. OR have it stream the data via WiFi, as that would be faster than serial. Anyways, thanks for the info!

Since data is transmitted by 4 wire SPI, the part that brings the image obtained from the camera to the MCU is slow. To test this camera, I've already tested receiving images streaming over WiFi. It's still very slow. Maybe I'll show you streaming over a WiFi connection when making an application that uses it.

How is it in very low light situations and how soon after power up can it take an image?

It takes at least a few seconds. Image acquisition is not fast because it communicates with the camera via SPI.

@@ThatProject Thanks, but I was asking how soon the camera could capture the first image after power up. I'm not worried how long it would take to subsequently transfer the captured image to the MCU. In a security system, I need to have the camera turned of most of the time and switched on by a PIR sensor then be able to capture the first image with the minimum latency to prevent missing a fast moving object that triggered the PIR. Have you measured that on this camera - or perhaps on other cameras? Thanks

@@stevegulick7656 Got it. I know what you mean. That part seems to require rigorous testing. Since I received the photos through the PC application provided by Ardu Cam, it is different from what you want. Not sure but I'll try to let you know what you want sooner or later. (Sorry, I'm too busy these days.)
