In the 2008 series, she shakes her WHOLE body to dry off like a dog and soaks Lawrence. Holo's animal tendencies coupled with the tidbits of wisdom and cleverness, cuteness, and her absolutely astonishing amount of alcohol consumption are the reasons Holo was just built different from other anime girls. But they're laying down the "vibe" of the show with the other elements like the wide nature scenes and mysterious conversations about economics in dimly lit inns. It's surreal to see it back after so long

I hope you continue doing Spice and Wolf reactions. I like the breakdowns post-ep and explaining your thoughts on what was presented. Honestly my favourite kind of reactions rather than just saying something was good or bad. Or just not saying anything. I just like seeing reactions where people give their thoughts. You also have some good sound quality for a smaller channel. At least your mic is louder (not in a bad way) than others I have seen. Makes it easier to listen to thoughts without having to really focusing on it like squinting eyes trying to see something. I am glad that you are enjoying the dynamic between the two main characters. Its such a mature romance story and having them bond with each other as the journey progresses is amazing. Also, it is completely normal to wanna touch the fluffy tail. Just imagine how soft it would be! Idk if you watched Frieren, but you could kind of say S&W is what inspired Frieren.

They took out one of the best lines from the original stupid potato As dumb as that sounds Holo never learns to chew potatoes properly and she eats them a decent amount in the older anime and in the novels. So it becomes a running gag of her calling them stupid because she can never chew them properly. No joke it's actually one of the most amusing lines because it acknowledges that. Sorry I really hope they bring it back.

It's honestly insane how similar this episode is to the old episode 2 from 2008. There were some pretty big differences in episode 1, but this one is almost a perfect copy (except of course with updated style and new music). And I'm just wondering how much of that is due to the source material, and how much is due to the director being the same. As I recently rewatched the first few episodes of the old anime (to have them fresh in my mind to compare them with this remake), I realized episode 2 is really what sells Holo's charms and her dynamic with Lawrence, at least for me. That's why I'm very pleased with how little it deviated. Although I am quite saddened by the fact Holo doesn't say "Stupid potato".

Wait till you see how much she can drink before she gets drunk (yes, wolf gods can get drunk). Oh, and apples. Wait until you see how much Holo loves apples! Also, remember in ep 1 when the Village elder showed Kraft a box of a certain silver coin and Kraft said he'd never seen so much of that particular coin in one place before? Yeah, they've been laying groundwork for the first story arc all along. There are many random pieces that have been revealed that will eventually all fit into the same puzzle. This show has something for everyone. You can watch it a few times and get new details each and every time it's so detailed. Or you can just tune in for Holo's antics and forget all the complex economics and interweaving threads that make up the over all story. That's why the show is so great and beloved.

They are not running from the Church, in this time you can't run from the Church and that's why Holo hates it. But even as an ancient deity she still went to morning mass to learn more about this new religion that is displacing old gods like her. Holo may sometimes appear rash and judge a book by it's cover (Well, you can't exactly a wolf to immediately like a Sheppard though, right?) but she always leaves room for doubt and is open to learn more, and even maybe sometimes change her mind. Also, now that you know Holo is a superb lie detector, re-watch her interactions with Kraft in ep 1. Did you spot any moments where she suspected he was lying? Also, remember what she said about lies? It's not the lie, it is why the person is telling the lie that is important. This is the kind of show where a small seemingly random line or detail along the way may become important later. It's far deeper then it appears at first. Holo and Kraft are such a well written pair.
