I actually just made a splash guard 😅 I was worried about water getting into the electronics as well. I have a shelf I made on the bottom of the table with some L channel and aluminum cutouts that holds my razorweld. Mainly because cords draped everywhere drive me insane and I already had to fab a new voltage divider cable because I caught it and snapped it off. Which I added an inline capacitor to level it out better and it works much better more stable voltage readings no random torch outs. To make the guard I just measured the distance of the torch mount bolts and height range of the z axis designed out from that. I ran a slot mount instead of a fixed mount to add a spring system to it. So when it touches off the guard it moves up and back down without binding up the torch height control. If you have a sheet metal bender that's perfect. If not you should definitely get one it's a solid investment and will get used once you have it... you'll get tons of new ideas trust me. I generally program a small v shaped notch along the edges where I'm going to bend the part for alignment and bend relief.
@fireteamomega23437 ай бұрын
And actually if I had to redo the guard I would have designed it so the front portion was a separate cutout piece with a hinge so changing consumables would be easier. Which I still might do at some point

I have to play with my spring back setting in the post processor to get my thc to start at the correct height. I check it with a .060 shim by starting the cut profile in fire control with the plasma cutter off, then go back and forth between fusion 360's post processor spring back setting and re-uploading the cut profile in fire control until I get it torch height set correctly. Hey Kyle! Wanted to suggest tapping a T fitting and valve into your compressor line to run bubblers in your new water table. Also, you can use the positive air pressure routed to an RV water tank under your CNC machine. RV water tank is lower profile. Open air valve to water reservoir and it will push water up into your table.

Great video! Regarding price, I rarely purchase custom made items, and am surprised medium to large box stores charge so much for stuff. I blame the markup on why stuff is so high. Really comes down to how quick you think you could do it. I have a different table that could do all of that in one cut session and at 200+ ipm. If I had the DXF files ready to go, probably around the $550 mark all in is what I would quote someone for this. Double the material cost (roughly $40 for half a sheet 4x8 14ga x2 = $80) + $50-70 consumable fee (paint, electrode, tip, electricity) + roughly 4 hours shop time which would include the like 10 minutes this was being cut. No DXF, add a $75/hr draft/Etsy search fee (cheaper than shop rates since it only wear and tear on my desk chair), minimum 1 hr. If it took 10 hours, my rates would be in the $1150+ range.

Fusion is single threaded so get the highest speed processor you can afford. The models run in memory, so also get as much memory as you can. If your models get larger than what can be placed in memory, Fusion will come to a halt. Rendering is multi-threaded, but that's not that important to design.
