@DemoWarlockDa Bomb truly is just a bad tasting hot sauce lol. I commend the ability of making it feel spicier than some sauces that have 2-3x the scoville score. Yeah, it's an interesting experience, the superhots can push on the sympathetic nervous system to the point that it's just impossible to sit still, can trigger hallucinations, as well as disassociated states. (your brain will literally try to crawl away from your body) The truly sadistic sauces will go for 30+ dollars for a 4oz bottle of fruit puree. Might sound a bit pricey at face value, but it is a hazardous material, you're basically making tear gas juice. Buying a bottle and trying it out just makes you curious, if you keep buying more, you might need to address your masochistic tendencies.

Same here, a hot sauce has to taste *really* good for me to go back for another bite once the heat kicks in. I’ve often thought that the enjoyment of / higher tolerance for hot, spicy food was linked where you’re from and having been raised on it. Funny to learn that it’s actually genetic. I used to joke that I can’t handle the hot stuff because I have a British palate (UK food is often stereotyped as bland) but it turns out that was truer than I realized.

It's always interesting learning how the other half lives. I have never been okay with the idea of harming oneself for content, and can't properly enjoy it when others choose to. But it turns out, learning science can teach you new things. These people do this because they get a kick out of it that I simply do not. It may hurt, but as you say, "they enjoy the pain more". I for one am really weak to spicy foods. Even cheese dip used to burn a little before I got used to it. Likewise, I don't take to any of the thrillseeker activities like roller coasters and such (I enjoy the calmer rides more than the wild ones), and far prefer to just hang out at home where things are safe and known. In my understanding, I'm the weird one. I'm fine with that, always have been. What I care about isn't diminishing differences between people, but understanding them as-is. And I'm very glad that I now better understand this behavior that has always so confused me. Thank you for teaching me something new, and I hope you enjoy your spicy foods in the future
