Only those who do not understand what makes a sequence of DNA suitable for the genome of the first cell can believe in abiogenesis.

Hey Forest, avid watcher and amateur philosopher here… Can you discuss the theory that neurocomplexities in generalist species are evidence of individuals imprinting to environments. Imprinting defined as individual adaptations that can lead to speciation if environmental changes do not occur over many generations? This is an area that I am trying to understand more…but have not found much source material. I would like a take from a trusted evolutionary biologist.

"There are a lot of conflicting stories about your culture" "People try to fill in the blanks" "They take a lot of artistic liberties" one of my favourite lines, thanks amelia Sidenote, glad to know I'm not the only viewer stressed tf out about how everyone was dissing victor while he was bothering absolutely nobody. I notice how he didn't make the druids upset AT ALL, but everyone other than Ritha was so damn concerned about... offending anyone perhaps? that they seemed to have just wanted to terminate questions before risking anything. Not how I'd do it at all, but I'm me, and they're them. I'm in this position where I don't know how harmful the fungus is and would do the victor thing of going and learning about it. idk if the fungus is a threat or if the church is a threat or if the church is right in their ends and wrong in their means, or whatever. Side-side-note, I'm kinda sad that Azad went from this incredibly charming and glamorous rogue who clearly was once a theif turned missionary, turn into this solemn acting-wise, holy person, who seems like a different character than who we were introduced to, not because of character growth, but seemingly just- a shift in tone? not sure if that's intentional or not, whatever, just me

Wow, he tried to imitate Ben Stiller and ended up with unlikable witless goober. Just a black hole of charisma. I hate these people trying to use _names_ as a basis for what a thing is. Would they argue that Apatosaurs had no skulls, too? (Yes, the name actually meant "deceptive," referring to weird bone structure, but "headless" is apparently a valid translation) Great pratfall at 36:09 Given the Jurassic Park raptor noises during the scene with the floposaur (37:35), sounds like Fox/Disney AND Universal should be suing for copyright infringement. You know Erik didn't pay for those sound effects!

31:50 wow now that's a bulshit straw man if I ever heard one. "if the Earth isn't billions of years old how are we getting light from stars that are billions of light years away?" The age of the Earth does not affect how far away we're getting light from other stars. Even if the Earth popped into existence 5 minutes ago, we would still see light from stars billions of light years away, because that light has still been traveling for billions of years, regardless of how old the Earth is. They clearly just made up that argument -- that no one is making -- just to "debunk" it. And they STILL didn't do so adequately.

The more closely related two species are the less different their DNA will be. Species that diverged longer ago have more differences in their proteins, reflecting changes in the amino acids. The theory of evolution predicts patterns of species not just over time in the fossil record, but also in the distribution of species today around Earth - the study of which is called biogeography. The differences between species on islands compared to mainlands provide a compelling example of evolution. Christian website Bio Logos. This is an observable, scientifically verifiable fact produced by operational, repeatable science.

I found the picture this movie used to photoshop that actor’s head on Ben Stiller’s body. It’s a poster/cover for Night of the Museum 2, but Stiller’s flashlight is showing bright beams of light that spread over the photo. But if you look past that, it’s the same exact clothes and same exact pose. I can’t find the original photo of Robin Williams’ character’s pose.

It really bothers me that they tried to shame the person who tagged you for having “someone else fight their battles.” No. That’s what intellectually honest people do. When they don’t know enough about a thing they don’t just fake it til they make it, they refer to someone more knowledgeable on the topic.

26:56 - I give up, this is literally gibberish unworthy of a toddler. No, the f'ing universe is not fine tuned for us, we have evolved in a universe in which our existence is possible, and not evolved in any of the universes where our existence was impossible. And until you can demonstrate all of the following you don't get to say you've proved that god did it: show that it is possible for the "tuning" of this universe to actually have been different, i.e., that this universe and the life in it isn't inevitable; show that if the tuning could have been different then life could not have evolved in *_any_* of the possible alternatives, i.e., that this is indeed the one and only universe in which life could have existed; show that other universes in which that tuning was different have never existed, i.e., that our sample of one universe is in fact the full population of all possible universes; and show that given the tuning of this universe there is no possibility of life arising naturally within it; and lastly show that a god was indeed responsible for setting the tuning of this or indeed any universe. Good luck with that.
