Are kevlar motorcycle jeans slash / cutproof? They need to deal with this in a crash so it will I have always wondered! The results from this test are more interesting than the results from the first video where I tested how stabproof they are. That video is here • Are Kevlar Jeans STAB ...

it's interesting that when you "random" slashed at it, it pretty much glanced off, where it did cut through on the more deliberate cuts it's effectively a stabbing motion that is penetrating, then the drag of the cut is pulling down through an already compromised material?

Very good video ,definatly going to reconsider my riding gear .You make the statement "this gels got to go cause its getting old " . Just wondering what is the typical shelf life of home made gel ? And what happens as it ages ,does it just continue to to dry out and harden up . Also can you melt it down and recycle the material or is it a one time go ?

Interesting experiment, and good results from the Denim/Kevlar. I wonder if this shows a gap in the market, where leather and Kevlar could be combined?

I did wonder that but I think it would be way too heavy and won't stretch at the rate as the leather.

Is aramid the same as kevlar buddy. I have just purchased a hoodie lined with aramid and was wondering if it has the same protective properties 👍

Google put it better than I could so "Some people ask about the difference between aramid and Kevlar. The answer is, no difference exists. Kevlar is the trademarked brand name for the aramid fiber made by DuPon. However, due to it being the first para-aramid developed, its name is synonymous with the term aramid."

Interesting video that. Could you possibly do some more RC car videos, if you're still into them?

Sadly all my kit is dead and as much as I would like to buy a new car and make some videos I can not justify it. I did try contacting a few UK rc brands to see if they were Interested in working together but they didn't even respond.

Kevlar jeans are not heat proof. Had a bad one about 18 years ago. Bike landed on my chest with front header on a big v twin across my thigh. Woke up in hospital with several broken bones and worst of all was a very large full thickness burn where the header was resting on my leg with the motor revving away. Literally burnt in about 3/4 inch. This was heat transfer through the Kevlar liner. I never even thought about heat as I didn't think about getting burnt!

An interesting video and a reminder, if one were needed, that motorcycle clothing should prevent penetration as well as be abrasion, tear and burst resistant. An informative article on how a large proportion of motorcycle kit available for the last 24 years was, technically, not legal can be found in the link below. We are now, thanks to legislation, so much better protected than a generation ago with the conclusion from the author nicely summing up the situation thus: "Ultimately, for the vast majority of motorcycle riders who value their safety, the new legislation can only be seen as a good thing. Any ambiguity is gone, so Customs and Trading Standards will find it much easier to remove from sale any products that are not independently tested, and the consumer will be able to get the best value when they spend their money. "We’ll still have a choice, but it’ll be an informed one, though as manufacturers get to grips with the new standards, we’re already seeing some relatively lightweight products meeting high rating standards, while others, with sometimes tougher construction - but not meeting certain criteria - are appearing to be of a lower standard. It’s a learning curve for consumers and manufacturers, but if nothing else, as least there’s an onus on the brands to now prove that their products are protective, rather than just claim it". www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/news-and-views/features/product/motorcycle-clothing-the-ce-approval-law-explained
