I haven't finished the video yet, but from the zoom in on the pedipalp, I can tell you that male is sub-adult, probably 1 molt away from maturity. It does not have structures on the palpal bulb, but instead just swelling.

Peucetia viridans, the green lynx spider, is a bright-green lynx spider usually found on green plants. It is the largest North American species in the family Oxyopidae. This spider is common in the southern U.S., Mexico, Central America, and in many West Indies islands, especially Jamaica.

A friendly English language tip: “temporal” = having to do with time. When you are talking about an enclosure that will only be used for a little while, the correct word is “temporary.” I admire your fluent use of a language that is not the one you grew up with and thought you might want to hear of small mistakes. I am sadly monolingual myself. What beautiful spiders! Thank you for sharing them and all your animals and engaging self.

it's weird how small spiders get such big cages while tarantulas the same size get such small ones
@AFinds_VCR2 жыл бұрын
Tarantulas love small hides thus the enclosure should be at minimum three times bigger than the tarantula (it’ll only use 1/3 of it depending on the species) in the wild again depending on the species they just burrow a tarantula sized hole and lives snuggly☺️ im sure someone can explain this 1000x better than I but hope this helps alil 🤏🏽
@RamoArt2 жыл бұрын
I've commented something similar before... Seems like absolutely no one on KZbin keeps tarantulas in huge, naturalistic enclosures. People create large paludariums for snakes, lizards etc. Petko himself has created some very nice jungle enclosures for frogs, for example. The response I got last time was pretty much "its big enough for them". But why does nobody go above and beyond if they have the resources?
@ravenoustarantula37152 жыл бұрын
@@RamoArt because tarantulas just wont use it Lizard will use whole enclosure. Snake too and etc. But tarantulas wont. I have a few tarantulas and they are using like 1/5 of their enclosures.
@TheParkerThirteen2 жыл бұрын
@@RamoArt simple answer is: bigger isn't always better. Most Ts prefer smaller enclosures with easy access to their hide, if the space is too large it can intimidate them. I'm not an expert, but that's generally the idea.
@FatesxofxthexDead2 жыл бұрын
@@RamoArt There's no need to, they trample and web plants, killing them, they don't come out the majority of the time, and they prefer dark, enclosed places.

#TheDarkDen Petko My Mom and I were having our dinner outside next to the grill. My Mom needed more water so I took her cup inside to fill it up. As I am turning the faucet on a massive spider (okay, it wasn't a 'massive' like the size of Linda or Bonita but it was big in my eyes. I am still on the journey to watch as much about arachnids to help get over my arachnophobia. It was maybe 1 ½ inches long and very tall.) I set the glass down (prior to your videos I would have dropped the glass and run) in the sink and found another cup to cover it. But it was pushing against the cup and I started panicking. I, no joke, started yelling, "RED ALERT! RED ALERT! RED ALERT IN THE KITCHEN!" 😳😬 My Mom comes in and asks what the problem is and, I again said, "We have a freakin' RED ALERT and it's trying to get out! " She looks at me, with a puzzled look on her face. So I elaborate, " BIG Spider on YOUR glass by MY fingers trying to ESCAPE!" She get a paper towel and covered the top of the glass and took it outside. I said to her, "So you haven't been watching any of those Dark Den videos I have been sending you... If you had, you have have known what RED ALERT meant." 🙄 She said, "Well now that truth is out there...🤷🏽♀️" No spiders were injured. Though, I lost a few years off my life.
