How to find the correct ACDelco injection system on rockauto.com: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6PIgXWPqdV1rac

"this is how you learn". True words. Only way to get it done is to get it done. Nice work.

Thanks for the video! I thought the whole intake manifold had to come off the get at the injector. I have over 482,000 miles on my 05 Safari and if my injector went, I probably would have said goodbye but now I might attempt this! Great job!
@davidbryant58759 ай бұрын
Mines not a van it’s a Silverado 4.3 same engine. But you explained things way better than all the others on KZbin. Only problem I had was getting the spider injectors down from kinking up on me and the fuel lines on top to tighten those down.

I'm running 3 bottles of Lucas 25 gal treatments for a tank . I'm due for the spider replacement at 170k . I put in overtime for the last month . I'm gonna have a shop do it . I'll have them lower the back shackle bolts to give me another 11/2 inches up in the back . The weather here has been pretty nice , I've been riding my 78 Honda more than wrenching lately . Tribe!

Great job Mike. I replaced the spider on a ‘98 Tahoe 5.7. It was easier to position the spider after I warmed up the new one with a hair dryer. Not sure if it matters with yours but the 2 extra cylinders seemed to make it a little stiff.

So it looks to be your injectors were already swapped to the updated version by the previous owner. I had the same with my 2003. Had to remove the lower manifold to push them out from underneath because they were so stuck. great work! knew you could do it

Great video, while you where there you really should have done the lower half of the intake manifold as they are really dirty with oil and carbon. I know this as I have both the express vans and safari vans, and yes on 03-04 vans they came with the updated spider.

Mike, at the end of the video, you were talking about fixing a problem with a bad vibration that would be in the next video. I don't know what video it is. What was the problem that fixed the shaking? I can't find the problem.
@AstroVanTribe4 ай бұрын
I put in custom engine lift brackets - Those of use with lifted Astro's can lift the engine and transmission back up into the body where it belongs which lifts the oil pan out of harms way... The set we made was made on a jig that was off, once we figured that out Dave corrected it, I put a new set in and went back to rubber engine mounts - All is well

Good job Michael. 😊 I am next to replace my 2003 Astro Injectors. Which Spider Injectors Brand did you use? Where did you buy and what is the part number? I needed replacement ASAP because is my work van. Please and THANK YOU. 😊

rockauto.com - They had the ACDelco - BUT I had to look under the 2nd gen Astros - So look up a 2001 Astro van spider injection system - It's the same part number for the 3rd gens (your '03) - I can't tell you the part number, I have no idea BUT I did a video on navigating rockauto.com where I talk all about it kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6PIgXWPqdV1rac

My 99 Astro has a fuel pressure regulator just ahead of the spider injectors that needs replacement.
@TheFreedomTreeАй бұрын
Did you need (or want) any special tools? (Aside from the zip tie tool) The fuel pressure gauge? Is there a link to the parts needed?
@AstroVanTribeАй бұрын
No, it's standard stuff - That was a long day because I cleaned all the parts I removed and there was a learning curve - Months later I did this again, on my own and in my parking spot behind my apartment in about 2 hours - In this video I put in the Standard brand spider system which is probably fine. That was one of the many parts I got for free from a guy who gave me a storage unit full of Astro van parts because he was moving to Mexico. After this I was chasing an engine vibration (which was caused by a mistake with the engine lift brackets which we later rectified) and an intermittent random miss-fire. After replacing all sensors and even my exhaust system I brought it to a shop for a "computer relearn" which would have worked had my mechanic done it a few times but after the first try he thought it was the spider system - That's why I replaced it a second time with the OEM ACDelco. After that it took two tries to get the system to sync together. Since then the van has been running like a top
@The559Jeff Жыл бұрын
Great job! What codes were you getting? P0300? CV joint replaced, how difficult was that?
@AstroVanTribe Жыл бұрын
I think it was the random code - I have videos on the CV axles, I've replaced them three times and will be doing it again soon because the new ones I recently installed both have boot tears. I bought replacement boots but will swap out the entire CV's then rebuild the current ones so I have them on the shelf, stay tuned

What was the trick to getting the injectors out of the manifold?

Lowd have mercy! I absolutely hate working on vans! I like your enthusiasm, cuz from here it looks like quite the pain in the @$$. I used to like chevy's then I had to work on them, if they are so bent on cutting costs, why then do they use 3 inch bolts where one half that long would work? I could tell you how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop (420, I do see the irony there, lol) But we'll probably never know why GM will shave off as much as they can but still use more expensive hardware. This is why I drive Hondas, my 04 Accord has 270k miles on it and I have only done oil changes, brakes and tires. Still runs and drives like new. If it weren't Pops van I'd chuck it and buy him a toyota sienna (Toyota makes the best auto trans Honda the best engines I got a manual trans with mine) But he loves that POS and He's 83 you wouldn't think he just had a triple bypass a couple months ago the way he gets around, lol. So I happily indulge his cantankery. Honestly he's not that bad, he's quite hilarious on many occasions, lol. If you have a vibration while in gear it could be the torque converter if you haven't figured out what's wrong with it already my chiming in four months after video, lol. If that's the case, just put it in neutral while stopped and live with it. It could work just fine for years like that. Have a great day.

I hear you, there's just not another vehicle out there that has the capacity this thing has, it's truck parts under the chassis, can easily be converted to 4x4, has a good amount of interior space but still the foot print of a Subaru I sorted the vibration today, the engine lift brackets were off and I re-did the engine mounts
@Rundark- Жыл бұрын
@@AstroVanTribe That's really some great info, the footprint of a Subaru, that's pretty cool especially when you consider the amount of room inside. So glad to hear you sorted out the vibration, If it ain't from imbalanced wheels it can be pretty nerve racking going down the road while your teeth get rattled around involuntarily, LOL.

Hey buddy that vacuum line that had the hole where does it run too? That come off the driver side valve cover. Mine is missing sucking air like crazy
@AstroVanTribe9 ай бұрын
it runs the actuator for your air conditioning - The missing 1/4" hose-line is supposed to run over the top of the engine and connect to a plastic connector coming off another line to the right of your AC compressor
@davidbryant58759 ай бұрын
@@AstroVanTribeok thanks for the reply buddy. I will check and see if I see a vacuum port by the air conditioning

It defiantly looks like you have the wrong upper coolant hose installed someone has zipped tied it it should lay on the fan shroud where those two raised plastic pieces are wrong upper hose can cause inpropper serculation witch can lead to air pockets I’ve bought my van new in 98 still have have it to this day I basically know everything in and out

I have a '98 193k. Runs great. Just put new plugs in to fix the misfire code. Got that to go away, not I'm getting a bad read on the EGR sensor (which I have replaced already) Need to get this to pass emissions is my main problem - We should get coffee! Ha! seriously....

You need to get you a GoPro or something with one of those headsets that you can attach the GoPro to and wear it on your head, that way you can use both your hands and get (mostly) all of it on film

Don't know what to tell you, I didn't have that issue... One of the tips did stick in the port when removed so I had to pry the bits out - Did you inspect the parts you removed to see if anything looked broken which would likely mean parts of the injectors are stuck in the ports?
