Spider-Man: Far From Home is a film that HiTop Films did not like. This is the last video HiTop Films will do on MCU Spider-Man. This is the sequel to the “hit” video Spider-Man: Homecoming is a Bad SPIDER-MAN Movie. The next episode of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man will be out this month. HiTop Films will be done talking about Spider-Man and making Spider-Man Video Essays (?) as soon as HiTop Films finishes the Raimi Series. I hope you enjoyed Far From Home more than I did, I really do.

xinon uzumaki that would be extremely disappointing to basically all fans of Spider-Man, but at least he would be referenced in the movies, I get that marvel didn’t want to do what dc did with Batman and show the death of their parents 500 times, but the death of uncle Ben is a defining moment for peter Parker, at first peter was using his power just to make some cash, not saving people, but when some crook he last get away kills his uncle, the only father figure in his life, that when he decided to become a hero, his guilt of his uncle’s death is a driving point for him being Spider-Man, it’s why he goes out to help people and stop crime no matter how big or small, because he knows his actions have consequences and that not taking action can have even bigger consequences, for this Spider-Man movie to not even mention his uncle death is just sad when it’s such a big part of why Peter does what he does

There's a lot you get wrong about this movie (basically everything) but I'm just gonna address Peter and MJ since it's what I'm most passionate about. First of all, he wants to fall in love on vacation to partially to distract himself from the fact that he's grieving Tony Stark. People will distract themselves with things that make them feel happy when they're grieving. But he's also genuinely in love with MJ. Second, he does know MJ a lot, and he's friends with her at the beginning of the movie in addition to having a crush on her. He basically says so at the beginning. He knows her favorite murder and knows to get her a black dalia necklace. She starts conversations with him frequently, showing how she's much more comfortable with him then anyone else. Peter brings out a vulnerable side of MJ she doesn't show to anyone else, and Peter knows that MJ is actually a sweet person underneath the uncaring facade she puts on. MJ doesn't get upset at Peter for ditching her at the opera because she knows he would never do that, she knows him. They're clearly on a friendly basis, know each other and care about each other, the arc in the film is them finally confessing their feelings. All of this is shown in the beginning of the movie. This shows that they've gotten to know each other between the movies. It's a lot like Han Solo and Princess Leia in Empire Strikes Back. Peter and MJ's relationship doesn't just work because it's awkward and cute and Tom Holland and Zendaya have a shit ton of chemistry. All of that is true but it also works because they're very compatible and know each other as people and they care about each other for who they are. MJ literally brings a mace to help Peter fight drones and that's empty? Are you joking? They are both strong, loyal, caring people with big hearts who are very similar yet compliment one another. If you paid any attention you would be able to clearly see why Peter likes her. It is well-developed, you just can't see it.

He wasn't a god or a super soldier or a genius billionaire, Peter is just a kid from Queens who tries to live his life while still being a hero and the drama that provokes. But in the MCU, this Peter doesn't have any of the qualities that made him such a great character. If they want to have Tony be like this mentor to Peter, that's fine, but Tony is not the reason for why Peter is Spider-Man, Peter is Spider-Man because of Uncle Ben and his death impacted Peter's life very hard and he was the one that motivated him to become Spider-Man and to become a better person.

I think what really hurt this movie was having aunt may be dusted along with Peter. Her being dusted took away any dramatic tension that the film could have had. This isn't about wanting to make himself happy in hard times. What you want and what you're able to are two different things. A grieving person might *want* to be happy very quickly to move on with his life, but that doesn't mean he's going to be able to. This movies portrayal of Grief is a fucking joke, it's as if no one working on this movie has ever lost a close friend or family member, nor went through that feeling of grief. You might as well have a depressed person go outside and meet new people and have fun, and then he will stop being depressed, and become happy. That just doesn't make sense. He's depressed, there's a reason that kind of behavior isn't realistic for him. The way you worded your comment makes me think you've seen Jay Exci's Hot Garbage critique. He said a similar thing, and there's a reason his critique is just hot garbage. He never made a proper point or counter argument.

This spiderman is the most realistic spider man we could hope for. Spider man is supposed to be a kid and using iron man as a mentor who gave him his suit is a lot more realistic than him making his own suit. With him being young there is a lot more room for the character to grow and I think that is how spiderman should have always been, a young kid growing up and learning how to handle the responsibilities of being a super hero.

At least in No Way Home, the plot revolves around a spell going wrong, but that is still Dr Strange"s fault. Peter has nothing to do with it, as he agreed with the spell. Tom Holland is a great actor, but these plots arent that connected with him. Its just based on the choices of others around him.

@D core These are superficial aspects. If I was Marvel, I wouldn't be proud to have stolen Miles's best friend for my Peter Parker. The Raimi films kept true to the essence of the character, you can't make up that real heart with just meaningless references.

@D core How so?
@fellinuxvi3541
@fellinuxvi3541 4 жыл бұрын
@D core So you're criticizing an actor for the writing? Again with the superficial criticisms of a deeper story. Also Peter Parker isn't whiny, if you watch Spiderman 1 and 2 you'll see the extreme sacrifices he makes to do the right thing, he takes much more abuse than the average person and is mature enough to turn down his opportunity of a happy ending twice before Mary Jane stops him and decides to stay with him despite the danger it poses. Also, the thing about the symbiote making him evil is better than in the comics, there, Peter rejects it simply when he finds out it's a life form trying to bond with him, there's no depth or weight to the storyline until it was retconned into being a bad influence (which we saw in the 90's animated series and in the spectacular spiderman that came after the Raimi films) and actually poses an interesting question, Peter doesn't just get hair gel and makeup, he becomes jealous, angry, vengeful. He attempts to murder the sandman, he hurts his girlfriend and his best friend, and not out of nowhere, it's actually done well. And Mary Jane had a good story for being a damsel in distress, in the first film, she learns to love herself and puts the abusive relationships she had with her family and boyfriend behind her, in the second, she figures out what she really wants out of her life, and in the third, she learns to deal with the fact that not everything will turn out the way she hoped, and to live her life quietly but with who she loves the most, how's that bad in any way? It's probably the most well made arc for a character so often reduced to just being the damsel. Also, again with the superficial critique of the costume, ignoring that the Green Goblin was the most comic-accurate of the villains shown.
@fellinuxvi3541
@fellinuxvi3541 4 жыл бұрын
@D core Yeah, good aspects. I'd understand if Tobey wrote the dance number with Gwen, but as far as I know, his push was in Spiderman 3's exploration of Peter's dark side, and that's the good part of the film, the one that actually resonates with people, and the ones that had balls. I'll admit I kind of underestimated Tobey's power, but my point was that criticizing a film based on the personal life of an actor (rather than the actual writing of the movie in question) is a bit dishonest, which is why I tried to defend the writing rather than Tobey, did you read that? Don't blame you if you didn't, but I did my best to answer your criticisms.

Listen, I like your take on the film. I think the Endgame-sequel parts and the Homecoming-sequel parts really clash. But I don’t think the solution, as you say, is to focus more on grief and Tony’s death. That would result in a really lame movie tbh. It should have been just a Homecoming sequel. They focused far too much on Tony in this *Spiderman* movie
@sirnarwhal9911
@sirnarwhal9911 5 жыл бұрын
That really isn't the whole point he was making. His point was if you're bringing these subjects up then give it a good enough resolution that impacts the character so that said character can be more fleshed out into a believable one. You either mention it to help high school Peter's character grow into a man with responsibility or you don't focus that at all. Spider-Verse did that element well where the death of a character helps Spider-Man grow and still be light-hearted enough for a child to enjoy.
@gocto1278
@gocto1278 5 жыл бұрын
I’d say they should’ve focused more on it, the consequences and responsibility peter has. Like with “Nick Fury”, peter ditched him to hang out with his friends. Spider-Man always sacrifices everything over his personal life. Homecoming explored a bit watching out for the little guy. I’d say the trailer was a better movie than the film. I get that Spider-Man isn’t always selfless and has to make that decision. And it is hinted at more than the last film. But nothing is ever built upon, we get thrown love triangles and relationships and plot points that really don’t go anywhere

I thought that after Civil War it was evident that the MCU version of Spiderman was slightly different than the previous movie versions of him. I also think that many of these things that you had brought up wouldn't of fit into 120 minutes and I think it was a wise choice to not continue the sad and depressing ending from Endgame go into FFH. I think it's great that we see Peter Parker as a high school kid trying to be a hero that his idol Tony Stark envisioned him to be. I remember in high school it wouldn't take much for me to like a girl, I would just really like her. I like how you said Tony is Peter's Uncle Ben in these movies, and it's clear that he saw him as a hero and that he feels like he needs to be as great as him. I feel as if he's well relatable because we all feel like we're not ready for bigger responsibilities at first until we believe in ourselves and have something to fight for.

Man, just from reading KZbin comments, forum posts and Twitter discussions, it seems as though the Spider-Man fandom is never going to get along. Never have I ever seen a fandom so split in two. We all have our own individual ideas of what Spider-Man is or should be. We’re so divided and always bickering at each other all the time, very rarely respecting each other’s opinions and it’s so depressing. 😞 Still, I suppose it all comes from a place of passion for the character, which is some small comfort, I guess. 🤷🏻‍♂️

His motive and character keeps going with the goal to make himself seem like a hero, using the breakthrough tech he built, because he never got the recognition he deserved. He never got praised, just swatted to the side, and that’s what makes his character work. In a way, he’s trying to live up to the expectations of what the term “hero” is after Endgame, just like Peter is trying to live up to the title of “Avenger” and “Next Iron Man”.

My main criticism of this Peter Parker is that he isn't the 15 year old with the responsibilities and maturity of a 25 year old like he is in the comics. He has to deal with getting money for bills, caring for Aunt May's health and trying to live his teenage life while also being a superhero. He wants to be the happy go lucky kid they portray in the MCU but he can't and that is what makes his character compelling.

Afro Turtle no have you played the ps4 game you can tell it’s because of uncle Ben and the responsibility lesson influencing all of Peter’s actions in that game and they mentions Ben and it isn’t bad, in the mcu none of Peter’s actions seem influenced by I have a great power so I need to be responsible(In the crossovers thats there but in the solos it’s none existent) so in homecoming and far from home he seems like a spoiled brat who is only a hero because he either wants the glory of being an avenger impressing tony rather then just doing what’s right because it’s right, he flat out quits being Spider-Man after his suit is taken away so he is saying unless I have my suit I’m not going to be a heroic so why not make a suit yourself because is someone needs help you can still be Spider-Man just not with the spoiled suit doing everything for you(no where in that movie does it scream I have responsibili s and I’m not going to let tony stop me because I don’t need his approval, if peter what’s permission on doing the right thing then he either doesn’t understand or care what uncle Ben thought him, does he need permission from Jamison the public or anyone no he shouldn’t but mcu peter say I’m not going to be a hero if tony thinks I shouldn’t be so Ben does matter?!?), in far from home he wants to quit being a hero after losing tony but shouldn’t that motivated him to be a better hero so he can save the ones he cares about /loves (which again is an influence Ben would have in him and now tony) but no he quits for no good reason at all why does he quit because he doesn’t want the responsibility dude Ben and tony died on your watch, so you don’t what the responsibility of trying to be better because you should feel guilty think you could have done something to save them, no quits and abandons a world crisis in whcih everyone might die including his loved ones and he doesn’t care and doesn’t want to be a part of it at all, had he not been forced to go by fury he would not have helped at all and this movie wouldn’t exist, he also shouldn’t have given the glasses to beck because their is no logical reason to do so only a fool/idiot/stupid/dim witted person would give the glasses to someone who is from another universe and who he as known for a few days, ok so you Meet someone in the other side of the world and you known them for a few days, so you make them secretary of defense of the U.S that’s the amount of stupid peter is in far from home and homecoming, the mcu movies objectively are even worst then TASM because at least he wasn’t stupid enough to give away a weapon the could take the world hostage to someone he as only known for a few days. Mcu Spider-Man you can like but it’s objectively the worst version of Spider-Man and if you support it that is saying you don’t understand the character and you rather support this dumbed down version of the character instead of supporting something like spectacular, spider verse, Ps4, all in which are among the best versions of the character and spectacular if you compare to the mcu is the same age yet is more and exactly like Spider-Man and should show you the problems with the mcu version kimcartoon.to/Cartoon/The-Spectacular-Spider-Man-Attack-of-the-Lizard/Movie?s=beta&pfail=1 the mcu Spider-Man solo movies are so bad if you take them out of the mcu the mcu Spider-Man would be better, you can take out homecoming and far from home and Peter’s character wouldn’t even change in the crossovers in civil war he was already more developed then how he was in far from home meaning you can take those movies out because peter learned nothing at all in those movies and if peter doesn’t grow then what’s the point in the movies, if you take them out of the mcu then the mcu would not change either, nothing happens that influences the world like how winter solider did or something as bad as Thor dark world, mcu Spider-Man solos can be taken out of the mcu like how Ironman 2-3 can be taken out like the Incredible Hulk, like black panther, and absolutely nothing would change that is how bad they are

The problem with the MCU, I think, is that they focus on where the universe can go, instead of where the individual movie can go. Since they're focusing on multiple movies at the same time, they're not able to focus on just one and put all the love and care into it. If there are 23 movies in a series, and they were all made by the same people, they would start to blend in and feel tiresome.

No lie, I'm a big MCU fan. But I notice the cracks wishing that the directors had more control of what they wanted to do with these films to stay focused on who the films are about along with staying on track for what the films are leading up to. So I agree. What I will say though the characters that they did a good job on for caring for them in the whole franchise are: Iron Man, Cap. America, Thor, Spider-man, Hawkeye, Guardians of the Galaxy (All of them), even Loki, Killmonger, and Thanos. Everyone else is debatable or not. (Just my opinion)

Schlock Jocks put it like this my friend, we don’t need to see a flash back or anything, but his influence on peter should be seen in Peter’s action that’s it’s because of Ben peter does what he does but peter in the mcu is not responsible nor mature as if Ben never died, look at the ps4 game they mentioned him without it being Overused if you will and even the you can see that peter does what he does because of his origin even if Ben wasn’t mentioned in the game, actions speak louder then words and mcu’s actions shows he learned nothing as if Ben never died in the first place which is why people are asking what about Ben, if his influence was present in Peter’s actions no one would be asking what about Ben because it’s like he never mattered to Peter as his actions shows
@ShadowSonic2
@ShadowSonic2 4 жыл бұрын
@@ATalesTruth- Peter gave us Ben's influence in Civil War. "When you can do what I can, and bad things happen, they happen because of you." It's not a perfect recollection of what he said, but it's very clearly the "Great Power, Great Responsibility" thing. They just didn't want to outright say it again because it would be awkward. In the prior movies Peter exists all by himself, no other superheroes and no bigger setting he's a part of. The comics avoided having him interact with others meaningfully for a long time as well aside from occasional meet ups with the FF. The MCU goes more with the Ultimate Version of Spidey who was always working with SHIELD and Fury (except they used Stark instead) and shows his this would get to Peter and make him regress a bit. Then he realizes this and stops, but not before he's found a new father figure in Tony. In the comics, his new father figure was Captain Stacy who unfortunately was killed off too early and was a wasted character. Remember, in the early comics Peter was always thinking "What would Uncle Ben do? What would Uncle Ben do?!" in a problem. Here it's similar but they used Tony instead because...Tony's alive. Yes, it makes him less independent but it's a new direction that I'm not that upset about because we already got "Peter exists alone with no other heroes" in Raimi and ASM.

Victor Salazar I think to a extent, the ridiculous visuals of Spider-Man being caught in a snow globe that’s actually mysterio’s head, zombie iron man, Spider-Man getting attacked by dozens of replicas, etc. can only look so “real.” Also I don’t see how the majority of this sequence could’ve been done practically. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always thought that homecoming suit cg model needed work, but I think the concept behind the visuals wouldn’t allow it to look all that “real.”
