Browntable...you’re awesome, there’s no denying that you excellently master your critique skills into you’re videos and I reallllllly hope that I will be able to half as good as you one day, (as long as I don’t rumble with my words). But that aside I genuinely respect your opinion as well as everyone else’s, most of the time when I hearing other people’s thoughts on what I’ve seen I am looking for honesty and not just a massive feedback of good and bad, just people who aren’t afraid to express how they feel regardless of how others feel about their views. Also I would like to add as that I do find myself struggling most of the time when it comes to expressing how I feel about what I’ve seen, played and read because I like to get a sense of an honest opinion most of the time. P.S I think my favourite scene in the movie is when Spider-Man uses his spider-sense, ohh I’m sorry "Peter tingle" in his final fight against Mysterio, that sequence was lit 🔥🕸🕷👍🏽👏🏽

Shadow Strike yes, it truly was, no one can deny it. The CGI artists went full house there. But the biggest problem was, why did Mysterio even mock Peter? I mean, we clearly see him having a bond with Peter, a friendship and he even gets mad at his co-worker with „PETER‘S BLOOD WILL BE ON YOUR HANDS!“, meaning Beck doesn‘t want to kill Peter. But then, Mysterio taunts him with illusions, he insults him, he makes Peter see Tony‘s grave and Skeleton, he gives him a nightmare trip and breaks half his ribcage. It just feels so sudden, like, completley out of nowhere to *why* Mysterio torments Spider-Man.
@jolynicki943

023 Studios scare Peter off? I don‘t think that was his plan, his true plan was definetly to kill Peter, considering he let a speeding train run over Peter (which is weird because half of Peter‘s ribcage should be broken, but he seems perfectly fine in the final battle)

If I'm honest I disagree on the account of this being entirely Spidey's MO. It's not like the other movies but the other movies if anything scaled Spidey down. This entire movie is literally Spidey's Monday and I love it. If anything I'm just sad they haven't done more of it. The other movies went as far as possible to establish him as Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man not The Amazing Spider-Man. This movie did The Amazing Spider-Man part perfectly. I also think that Mysterio was a great character but I do think that his plan was kinda convoluted and relied on Nick Fury being a complete dumbass. It was so coincidental it's not even funny but I enjoyed it. Spidey's ignorance did slightly bother me but he's a kid who was forced into a role as Tony Stark's successor. It shows that he's human and he makes mistakes. If you think Spider-Man shouldn't make mistakes go watch the Sam Raimi movies and read the Comics. Venom, entirely Peter's fault. Green Goblin knowing his identity entirely his fault. Dare I say Gwen Stacy?

It’s so sad how they reduced aunt May to a joke. I mean, whenever he feels sad, he just never thinks about asking HER for help and it’s not realistic? She’s supposed to be someone that matters, that he loves and cares for. Whenever she’s on screen, it’s usually for a joke or comic relief or Peter being somewhat annoyed at her. I was hoping Aunt May to actually be a parental figure. She’s supposed to be his literal motherly figure. They focus so much on how he doesn’t have a father anymore and how Tony was his fatherly figure and that he needed him but... sometimes it seems like he doesn’t have either (motherly or fatherly figure). She’s the only one who’s actually there for him and? It’s almost like she’s not even there.

This movie felt like two movies in one. The first one is everything before the Mysterio twist reveal. The second movie is everything after. I liked the "second movie" more than the "first" one. The first one is kinda meh. The high school comedy elements are very Disney channel-esque and the action/superhero elements are equally cliche and shallow. But the second half was really damn good and that's where the film really picks up.

to add to relatability? You won't find a more relatable hero than this Spider-Man, the guy struggles with his feelings, is afraid to speak in public, is insecure if he can do what everyone wants him to do. The guy is very relatable. Money problems would make him less relatable to me actually and I'm a not particularly rich student.

@@nielsvanheteren Yeah, that's why I wrote "maybe, just to add to the relatability". I'm not too torn that it wasn't in the movie; I liked all those aspects that were already there that you mentioned. I think Peter is the most relatable hero in the MCU yet. But just as you personally wouldn't identify with having money problems, it's a complaint I heard often reading criticism of the movie, (mostly since there WAS actually a scene that showcased it, but was scrapped), so it seems like a good deal of other people would have. Either way, it's not my biggest gripe about the movie.

Aaron Jones I have the opposite impression. His movies were so much better before joining Marvel. Sure, they weren’t big blockbuster actionfests, but I think that’s his style, he works better when there isn’t a bunch of people from different studios all pressing him against the wall, and seeing how many producers are in these Spider-Man movies, I can see why he has such a hard time in trying to do a movie of his own signature. I really think they should either let him do what he wants, or they should get someone that can actually take control of the movie.

Rushil Kothare all the scenes without CGI haven't absolutely nothing special, what shows how the directing of Jon Watts is poor. @Browntable
@Browntable 5 жыл бұрын
Xplosives I think film is subjective tbh, there are certain things that writers and filmmakers have to do create what is taught to be a “good film”, for example you cant just record whatever and call it a good film, there’s more to it than that. While at first I thought that people preferred Spider-Man 2 due to nostalgia, I’ve come to realize that there are certain things it does story-wise and character-wise that are leaps and bounds beyond what most modern superhero flicks do today. I cant comment for everyone because I do think there is a nostalgia lens and some ppl do prefer their childhood films and such, but I personally do feel like Spider-Man 2 captures so much more good filmmaking that goes beyond just what a good superhero movie is and what a good Spider-Man movie should be and FFH does things that I would say are not done well from an educational filmmaking perspective as well as my subjective tastes

The 2 best scenes in this movie are 1. The scene where he had to leave the opera, when he clearly finally gets the chance to sit next to his crush. That was soul crushing. 2. The scene where Peter caught Mysterio's hand. And that was right after the heartfelt moment where he talked about how Mysterio broke his trust. I'm amazed Peter didn't just kicked him off the window.

This. Though I'd personally say we didn't get *enough* of the first act tbh. Peter liking MJ genuinely came out of no where and despite how much I like their relationship, that opening scene with Peter talking about her with Ned always feels so jarring. And the sequences of Peter acting as New Yorks friendly neighborhood Spider-Man one last time in the Iron Spider Suit (which is thematically appropriate in a lot of ways) being cut from the film, along with the scene of Peter selling his stuff so he could buy MJ's necklace would've REALLY added a lot of substance to that breezy first act.

Though I get what POV your speaking from, as from a storytelling standpoint it genuinely would come out of nowhere, so you do have a point in that regard imo. And yea, the extra scenes which they cut from the film would’ve made the film 100% better, it’s still Spectacular enough on its own of course, but the smaller things are the type of things that really count in my eyes.

I'm pretty sure the point of Brad is to make Peter more nervous. One of the conflicts of the movie is Peter having to juggle his personal and heroic life and the fact that brad is an ever looming presence that threatens his love interests helps add to the pressure on peter to give up his heroic life and to go back to being a normal kid hopefully with a girlfriend. If Brad wasn't present, he wouldn't be as nervous because without a romantic threat there Peter could take his time with MJ. My point here is that Brad is more of a narrative tool to make Peter prioritize his personal life than an actual conflict in and of itself that makes us viewers worry over if peter will win. He's not a threat to the audience because the audience knows peter will win. But he's a threat to Peter because to Peter, there is a definite high possibility that this handsome masculine rival could win MJ over.
@Wired4Life2
@Wired4Life2 5 жыл бұрын
To also give credit to Brad, the film prominently points to him as an example of a younger student who's now at Peter's age. Brad's nice guy concern feels like something a younger student would hold to and since he's now reasonably popular, he can have that attitude without coming off as naive. But then, the kids who were once older than him have more of that cynical teen outlook than he likely has as a result of going to school with half the students. Take the scene later on where he vents his concern to the class in London over Peter and once the others start throwing his photo-taking in sensitive areas back at him, he falters. His good intentions were used against him.

One of my issues with the film is that Mysterio's reason for being a villain is quite poor. Like, in homecoming the Vulture was more relatable and understandable and made you care about him and his situation a bit. But Mysterio is the villain cause of exposition and jumpcuts about his career with Tony Stark. And then he also happens to be insane or something so that throws all relatability out of the window.

Two days since I saw Far From Home, I am still shaken to my core. That’s absolutely the best Spider-man movie I’ve seen. It just felt so right and kept me going when I go through very tough times myself. I see your points but I think it’s just a lighter take on the character. Peter still struggles a lot, just in the different way, not the one we used to. It’s like Iron Man 3 (another MCU movie I love) Peter struggles with PTSD after events of The Avengers/Endgame movie. Yet Tony is still a loner in Iron Man 3, he thinks that he is the only one who can have an answer. Peter doesn’t get to sunk to Tony’s level because of May, Ned and his ongoing crush in MJ. He is forced to get ahold of himself and take responsibility both for his and Tony’s actions. I think you might have problem with Peter being a passive protagonist in the first half of the movies. Everything just happens TO him, not BECAUSE OF him. He is scared of responsibility but after realizing that he can’t shift Stark’s legacy to Beck and responsibility for Beck to Fury, he is all action. Just like in Homecoming, when Peter actively moved the plot with almost everything he did, after the jail he is back to his usual self in full hero mode. It’s kinda like Spider-Man 2 when stuff just happens to Peter but there is very little actual actions from Peter, just reactions. Holland’s Spider-Man is very proactive and you seem to like him when he is. But first part of the movie was needed to show his doubts in the life he lives and his fear of growing up. But this Spider-Man has miles to go before he becomes true Spider-Man and I am anxious to see more.

Peter gets a lot of dilemmas in this movie more than 'Homecoming'. He can't spend time with MJ, he's too inexperienced to be the next Iron-Man, he got a huge task to take down an avenger level of disaster/monsters, and those problems get worse and worse... Ned got a gf easier than him, it seems like Mj is into another guy, Mysterio is more capable than him, Fury gives him so much pressure, and everything gets even worse because he's alone now without Tony who used to take care of him. He makes a decision to choose a normal life and gives Mysterio the Edith glasses, which is his most terrible decision ever. I legit cried when he yelled to Happy, telling him not to calm him down because he messed up. I can't relate more. It's so stresssful and that's what I, a teenager, feel when faced with adult's responsibility. Mysterio's visual effect is badass but Peter's struggle is what makes me love this movie so much!!! I absolutely agree. I think this movie was much much better than Homecoming. And everyone has their opinions. This movie does Spidey justice and the Peter scenes are good. Not amazing mind you but definitely more enjoyable than anything from Amazing 2 and The OG 1 and 3 films. This movie isn't MADE for a Peter "personal" stakes story. It's made as a "SpiderMan is his own hero that must rise to an even better and bigger role" I feel like that theme was completely missed out on when people saw it. Either way I still appreciate the video. But I feel that people are missing the overall idea of this movie, not just what people are talking about rn

I usually agree with your opinion but in this case I respectfully disagree. I doubt you or anyone else would see this comment but my interpretation (one of many) is that the lack of tone is exactly the tone of the movie. They're teenages. It is a teenage romantic comedy that is a coming of age in terms of Spiderman's resolution. I think the first act is absolutely necessary because we need to see more of Peter Parker as a teenager doing lighthearted teenager things because that is what Peter wants. It is the inherent tension that we see him struggling with. If we took that part out, as the audience we would not understand what he is inherently sacrificing in order to be Spiderman. The fact that he does not talk about his emotions also makes sense. He's a teenager. What kind of a teenager would openly talk about their emotions. This refrain that the movie uses then makes those moments that Peter shares with XX and YY significantly more important because then you can see how much more XX and YY matters to Peter. Even Brad had more of a role. I see him literally as the manifestation of Peter's hesitation, his conflict with him being positioned as Iron Man (using his tech and fumbling it), and the quintessential high school love rival that you would expect in a high school. Yeah you know what's probably going to happen but Brad's role is more to highlight Peter and even MJ to a certain extent. Again just my opinion but I think people are struggling with their interpretations of this movie with their perceive history of Spiderman from ALL media. I think that's fair and a reasonable metric. However I do think you would appreciate this movie a lot more if you focus on this movie as the next chapter to Peter's growth strictly in the MCU.

It's... kinda hard to have villains wanting revenge on you when you haven't really fought many villains. Comparatively, he's only fought Vulture, Thanos, and Mysterio. Scorpion is getting set up on the grudge front, and after the mid-credits scene, I'm sure it's gonna be open season. But, yeah... he just hasn't really had a lot of time to make supervillains angry between the Civil War stuff, going off-planet, being dead for five years... that kind of stuff makes it hard for grudges to form, y'know?

My problem with this movie in a nutshell: It refuses to grow up with our protagonist. This is a movie that demands the world around Peter Parker to grow up and take things more seriously because Peter Parker is doing so, but time and again it doesn’t do it. The characters become simplified versions of Homecoming (Remember that scene where Aunt May is practically having a panic attack because Peter didn’t tell her where he was? This movie sure doesn’t) and the jokes, once charming, now become annoying and distracting. Again, Peter Parker and Mysterio are the parts of the movie that the whole thing should have been, cause they up the stakes both physically and psychologically, but everything around them still refuses to let go of the “teenage charm” of the first film, which knew how to use it to become more engaging. Btw, freakin’ Betty and Ned? Caricatures of themselves for a running gag that goes through all the movie tho it wasn’t really funny the first time. Yeah, those two represent what’s wrong with this movie.

I agree that there are a few sequences that really feel awful like the drone and the bus. But when it comes to the shitty highschool comedy, I think that intentional lack of seriousness adds to the seriousness of the second and third act of the movie. The whole movie is a big transition. Act One, much like Peter, is focusing on being a teenager. There aren’t huge consequences, everyone is kind of weird and petty. That’s how highschool is. Act Two is where the transition starts, serious stuff starts happening, and Peter is beginning to understand where his influence is and that he needs to choose to be a high schooler or be Spider-Man. It still has some of the highschool shitty comedy but it starts creating more situations and more consequences. But when Act Three starts, and once Peter finds out about Mysterio, that’s when everything goes crazy. It’s a complete emotional whiplash for Peter. That amazing sequence with Mysterio is the moment that Peter realizes how horrible has become, what he needs to do. And is completely overwhelmed by it. Which leads to the talk between Happy and Peter and beginning of the conclusion of Peter’s arc in this movie. The way I interpreted it, Peter was being overwhelmed by the responsibility of becoming the “next Iron Man” because of that he was desperately reaching for silly, cheesy, happy land of highschool shit that you keep mentioning. But this movie is Peter’s reality check. He realizes that he can’t be both all the time. And that he’s going to have to rise up to responsibility of beating Mysterio or whoever else in the future. Sure the highschool shit can be cringey at times but that’s half the point. By showing the silliness of Peter’s highschool life, it showcases how much he has become separated from that world of “neighborhood Spider-Man” and needing to accept his new place and responsibility in the world.

But, all I got as a response was ohh what about this part, that was cool or hey I liked when he said that or she did this. So thank you for being honest about what you thought about the movie, it must be especially difficult to do it for an audience who found the movie to be perfect so thanks again good sir!
