ORIGINAL INFO: It’s Atop the Fourth Wall’s 200th Episode! What comic could be heinous enough for the position?
RUMINATIONS: One thing that I LOVED about the Cinema Snob’s 100th episode was the cameos that tied more into what he was reviewing (Caligula, in case you didn’t know). That was the direct inspiration, then, for wanting to have so many people appear and try to make deals to undo One More Day. And the idea of witnessing alternate versions of the character opened up more possibilities for cameos. But of course eventually I’d have to acknowledge the deal, and at the time, no one better exemplified evil on That Guy With the Glasses than... well… That Guy with the Glasses. Doug and I filmed his cameo the last night of To Boldly Flee, the same night I also filmed the stuff with Dr, Insano. I knew even by then I wanted the cameo and had a general idea for how it would go, even if I hadn’t written it in full.
Speaking of, this review had to be RUSHED. I had the script done a full two weeks before the episode was to hit the web, but the real issue I ran into was two-fold - one, the week before was the Star Trek IV review… an episode that was longer than normal, which meant I had to devote more time to editing it instead of getting an early start on it. Hell, I actually recorded them back to back, which is why you can probably hear my voice cracking a few times during the review. The second problem was ConBravo. I was going to my first international convention… and I had to get the 200th episode done with in four days. And while I have gotten pretty dang good about this stuff over the last few years, Editing an hour and 15-minute review was still longer than I’d ever gone before and I didn’t have as much time as I normally would.
Add on to that that I actually rewrote the ending. Oh, sure, the stuff with TGWTG was still there, but my original script had a different ending monologue. I think it was probably a bit preachier, though I can’t recall exactly what it was that I said. In the end, it just ended up being better overall this way.
