then again, the pseudo intellectual stereotype is, "he's the greatest director but he's the most successful Hollywood director so his artistry is questionable" 😂😂

Nobody ever mentions his masterpiece about the effects of war called Empire Of The Sun. In my opinion, it's one of mr. Spielberg's greatest films. Also, for the sake of accuracy, Quincy Jones scored The Color Purple.

Not happy with the fact that they didn't give Mr. Spielberg a lavalier mic. It's like inviting him over to your house for a grilled steak and giving him chopsticks…

4.a. Missed the golden opportunity in the ending...Old man's granddaughter (Emily) could have been taken by the Germans, and she could have thought her grandpa was dead. Emily could end up working in hospital (girl has boy's ribbon in her hair, and meets horse boy (temporarily blind).

Why can’t some interviewers ask direct, blunt questions? Enough with the damned pretense and pseudo intellectualism. Hitchcock, for one, didn’t think that a script was “fluid” and subject to change. He was much more regimented. To each their own.

4.b. Boy later gets horse back from old man (grandpa) and he says his granddaughter's name was Emily. Boy remembers girl Emily in hospital, goes back and gets her sees his ribbon in her hair--brings her back to her Grandpa. (This would have been a great ending) Current ending...boring.

@kafkawood Really, do you think in a world of sequels and transformers, a sentimental film about a horse is gonna pop out as a huge commercial success, really? Every frame is teeming with emotion. This comment is wrong on so many levels.

Sorry, but it's kind of like the Emperor's new clothes. Everyone says how great it is, but it’s not a great film…it’s an okay film. You haven't even seen the movie yet, and you state "another amazing film by Steven Spielberg!" 1. Saw screening. 2. Everyone says in the film, what an amazing horse this is. The horse never does anything through the film to earn the title "amazing horse". Once it kind of saves another horse. That's it. Oh, it comes when called, but horses do that.

Please folks, it wasn't that good. It's Lassie as a horse. It's making people cry that love horses, or animals. or stories about boys and their pets. It had shallow characters and not much of a story. . This is the movie in a nutshell: A boy and his horse. Now cry. The End. . This movie should have gone straight to the Hallmark Channel instead of theaters.

3. No character/horse relationship ever is developed with anyone but the main character (a little) In other words, the horse makes no connections to any of the characters...what's amazing about that?
@kafkawood

Oh Steven, what have you done? War Horse is incredibly cheesy and emotionless (despite heavy trying), with mediocre, uninteresting cast, and full of downright embarrassing over sweetened moments. This is no good art, this is trash; and you, Steve, know it. Deep down you know you are serving mere hamburger for the numb masses, where you could give us exquisite cuisine. I hope you will by touched by god once again, and give us one more piece of true cinema. But Steven, this is not it.
