And Spike was correct! MALCOM X is literally one of my favorite films ever! To this day, it is shown and it may have not made much at the beginning but it made a huge impact on the long run!

One of my all time favorites as well. I was a senior in high school when this was released and I remember an interview on one of the late night talk shows a day or so before the release and Spike told kids to skip school to see Malcolm X because we would learn more watching the movie than that day at school. Two friends and myself (we were all honor roll students), decided to heed his advice, went to the first showing at the theater and all 3 of us (white boys) went on to read the autobiography and turned in A graded papers! The film was a gift regardless of the difference to the book. Thank you Spike!

I love Spike Lee, the man is an individual who isn't afraid to say what he thinks and feels. Who the fuck else is ending a promotional interview by calling out the US government? Lol I think Spike Lee is a great addition to important enlightening American entertainment.

Within the Hearts and Minds of a majority of Black People in this Country , Denzel did win that OSCAR , and his performance would bare witness to that , and we didn't need the Academy to tell us ................ Smile

Deleted scene 1 brother benjamin was it? Serves malcolm and after aproaching in cafe asks to join, is given a fasting challenge of no solids only liquids then scene of him watching all brothers eat while benjamin a Waits anxiuosly for his server. Deleted scene 2 is more explaining and detail of why pig is sickening mentally, physically, and spiritually, then deleted scene 3: malcolm x claims whoever destroyed the sphinx did it to ruin the nose and white wash. By him saying while in egypt in front of it, "look at the nose, look at mine, why was it destroyed, think about it."

I believe this scene was a perfect bridge between the two, as in the finished film it seems abrupt that they end up walking around the museum just to sit down and do nothing there.

To say this movie has inaccuracies without saying what they are is ignorant no biopic is going to tell the exact thing non that is impossible hell u dont even know the work and research he put into this is second to non the way he faught to get it put out and didnt fold when the money ran out the way he was the first to film in Mecca is legendary people talking about inaccurate information is the reason movies like X wont get the correct acclaim he went off what he was told and what he read and the fact that The Nation of Crooks and Louis F didnt talk to him after the movie seems like it was more than enough accurate information to anyone with since!!! #Just Saying

If Will Smith had supported Spike to direct "Ali" instead of Michael Mann, that film could've served to fill in many of the gaps in Malcolm's story and his relationship with the NOI, which was a lot more nuanced in reality than what Spike Lee had an opportunity to portray in the film. Especially when it comes to covering Malcolm's friendship with Muhammad Ali, a biopic could've served as a spiritual sequel to Malcolm X 1992. Even down to casting Denzel again as Malcolm in place of Mario Van Peebles-- who did a fantastic job, no question.

mrcrack15 I am actually doing a history assignment on the accuracy of the movie. Would you mind if I were to try to hold of you to ask you what you mean by the inaccuracy? It would be very helpful and won't take up much of your time.

Black America had a prominent christian civil rights leader (MLK), a muslim one (Malcolm X), I think now we need an atheist civil rights leader for the new millennium.
