Lionel, can you compose a piece that CAN be played in 5 octaves for once? I just need the satisfaction playing something that can fit in my 61 key Casio CTS 100 without modifying it and making it sound really bad. Also please make it a little playable for small and not skilled players like me. (Note: About the arpeggios, my left hand is not possessed) Just consider it if it is worth your time... Yay I just realized I can play Chopin prelude 28 no 20 with transpose

interesting confession, so i was just letting youtube autoplay me piano pieces while i cleaned my room. nothing was the matter, and i was cleaning my room quite normally. i'm starting to just pick up some loose clothes around my room, and this piece comes on. i didn't think anything about it when the first chord played. as the first 30 seconds progressed, i was picking up, slower, and slower, and eventually, i just, couldn't move. I sat on my bedside, and eventually, tears filled my eyes. it didn't feel happy, it's as if the way the piece sounded just unleashed a wave in my head that brought all of the depression that i had thought i had overcome. around the 45 second mark comes, and it is like i cannot thing about anything else but immense pain. like the worst heart throb imaginable. as it continues i start to bawl. and it was so confusing to me, i didn't know why i was in so much emotional pain so suddenly. im sobbing, and my chest weighs a thousand pounds. and the piece continues to transform my emotional state. i let it happen and just acknowledged that there was a reason that i needed to hear this. this was maybe two or three weeks ago. ever since, i have tried to just listen to it, just to really hear it, and everytime for some reason i cannot not cry to it. literally the 5 times that ive listened to it have ended in sobbing and this awful pain in my chest. i still don't know why, and i also don't know why i posted this comment, i guess just wanting to let people know that even if you don't listen to raw piano pieces (which i usually don't), sometimes the way something sounds can hit you like PTSD, even if you have never heard it before.
@ATsMagicShop
@ATsMagicShop 4 жыл бұрын
(Composer of the piece here) Wow, I still can't believe how many people are able to feel the emotion I tried to convey. Sorry that you had to cry but I'm glad to hear that the piece speaks to you! The original feeling this Rondo tries to convey is a loss of something, a death of someone, an inevitable and uncontrollable brute force breaking something that was so close to you. I don't know what you are going through but this piece is a musical manifestation of my personal growth since birth, but as a majority of my life consisted of chronic depression the aspect of death sticks out more than the aspect of being reborn. It might have been this emotional context that you felt or maybe it was just the melody, harmony or rhythmic. Whatever it was, I'm glad to know that you like my piece and hopefully you're able to find comfort in it!

Piano, In my opinion, is the best way to express really complicated feelings. It's impossible to express these feelings by talking. I know, other instruments also do that. God damn this piece is powerful. I've heard people talk about the meaning behind music and I just nodded along thinking, "yeah yeah, music can be happy and sad etc." but this piece just takes an emotion and portrays it so accurately and in so much detail. In each section of the piece it just feels like the piece looked into my soul and pulled an emotion out and shoved it in my face. "Here! Remember this terrible emotion you had? Here it is again!" The intro is a blend of blissful ignorance of life's inevitabilities and a foreshadowing of what was to come. Like I'm a teenager growing up and enjoying life most of the time but occasionally remember that I'll have to grow up one day and lose my youth. It feels as if those sad thoughts creep in and out of the music, just like they would fade in and out of my head. At 0:29 it feels as if life finally caught up with me and everything is starting to go downhill. I've lost the fun I once had when I was younger. Other things and other people are moving on from me. Everything is going wrong and everything is out of my control. At 0:49 I find some ways to cope. I find fun in some things. But those dark thoughts are still there, peaking through the happy facade, just as they creep into the music. 1:35 is another breaking point. Things are still getting worse and the little things I do to keep me sane are dwarfed by everything else in life. It builds and builds until it's too much, and everything comes crashing down at 1:57. The chord change at 2:04 is when I faced my problems and accepted them instead of finding ways to look around them. I've seen things from a different angle and the music symbolises this beautifully. 2:14 is when I finally realise all that I've lost. All that's gone wrong. Everything that I've just been shoving into a dark corner in my headspace. It's a climactic moment of helplessness and despair. And then the ending at 3:45 - the return to the original melody. It's as if I couldn't deal with everything, couldn't solve my problems, couldn't find my way back to the beaten path. So I just return to what I know. I return to my inner child and just will the bad things away. As a 17 year old with severe anxiety and depression, trying to live my life and find the happy self I've lost, while also growing up and learning my responsibilities, this piece hits harder than anything.

Hi Zesty, since Lionel first uploaded the second Composer-Submissions video I've been reading every single comment on my piece (in this video too) and haven't been able to relate to a comment so much. What you described is a very well structured summary of what kind of story roughly went into this piece. The truth is that I had been suffering from depression almost all my life and finally found an exit from it thanks to BTS when I turned 18. I'm 19 now and realized that my first album (second, actually) needs to be a musical manifestation of my life in order to leave behind two decades of darkness and open the doors for my future albums which will be more relevant for my career. Rondo Lycoris Radiata became a symbol of growth and chaos, but I intently chose to focus on the dark side of growth and talk not about aging, but the topic of undergoing psychical death in order to grow. The reason I chose this focus point is because my life hasn't exactly been a highlight reel and due to this album being a personal/subjective manifestation and not social/objective manifestation it was important to include that aspect in the piece. I totally understand your situation and wish you the best of luck in life. Keep on fighting, it will all be worth it! And remember, the darkest shadows are created by the brightest lights, some people just get to see the shadow first

When I was a little boy, they told me that the world was perfect. They said that the good guys always win and as long as I'm a good boy I'll find love and happiness. Then they told me that there are also bad people in the world. Then they told me that friends don't last forever. Then they told me that heartbreak happens to everyone and everything would be fine. Then they told me that the pain will end and that I'll always be able to find another girl. Then they told me that maybe the world wasn't exactly perfect and people don't always get what they deserve. Then, finally, they fell silent and left me alone. Now I'm a 17-year old introvert who nobody wants to hang out with and who doesn't want to hang out with anyone. I wonder if I have depression. I probably do. I don't really care. So I put myself into music and try to make a piece tell my story. I've been looking ever since. I ask and I receive.

This reminds me of of failure, anger, loss, angst, grief...all kinds of sadness. As an author, this really expresses deep feelings. The composer portrays the the childhood innocence fading as years past but I see it in another way. For some reason, it made me realize of the cruelty of the world, your most loved one died and that person is who you love, may it be family or lover or friend. When you try to love again, all you can experience again is loss. The greater the love, the greater the loss. It made me recall one story/saying "Why do wonderful people die? If you look around the garden of flowers, which would you pick? Of course the most beautiful one". Losing your loved one is hard and from experience, all I can say is that it is hard to try and move on and broken to look back at the past.

I’ve seen so many people say how they feel during this piece and I wanna share my “feelings.” I honestly have a very hard time conveying emotions and I honestly don’t understand them. To me, emotions are an act, a way to act okay and to make everyone around me see me as normal. When I listen to this piece I get these “feelings” that I can make sense of. It’s like my soul is screaming at me to cry but I’m to numb to do anything. I just sit there in confusion and ponder what it’s like to feel and understand what you’re feeling. I’ve honestly been wanting to talk about my inability to feel negative emotions properly for a while but I don’t want others to think me weird. Even though I know my friends won’t think wrong of me I still don’t say anything. This piece wanted me to spill all my worries to the world and that’s what I did. If you read all of this, thank you. PS: Love the song very much and wish you the best with your life :)

To Spikes: Thanks that you made this song. Just last month 3 of my family members died in a car accident, this song somehow reminds me of the pictures in my head of the car that they sat in. But it also gives me power to get over it somehow and stop crying about it. I just want back the old times I used to talk with them all night and laugh about dumb thing. I don't know how to thank you enough. This song really helps me. Also a big thank you to MusicalBasics Covers for playing that song.

I listened to this when the first video came out and have always loved it. My grandfather was diagnosed with brain cancer about a month ago so we had come to visit him, tonight this song popped back up into mind so I listened to it as I drew spider lilys in the notebook that my dad (his son) had been using to track his medications and how he was doing. He passed 2 hours ago with most of his family there. While I was up sitting near his bed in his final moments I had never had a chance to turn off the music, this song now holds a greater meaning to me than it ever has before. Grandfather Craig you were an incredible friend, husband, father, and grandfather and you will be missed dearly by all, may you rest without suffering in heaven till we can all meet you again at those beautiful golden gates.

So uh i usually dont get like this listening to music. I listened to the song and i couldnt stop thinking about my uncle who had died last year and i was bawling my eyes out thinking of him. He really only used facebook and messenger. I was never too good at responding to people in texts and he would send me a paragraph of heartfelt messages and i couldnt really muster up more than a "thanks, hope all is well." So i sent him a message tonight. It was more of an essay really. I apologized for not talking more for not starting the conversation for not responding as much as i should have been. I gave him an update on my life and i just really want to thank spike. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You dont know how much i needed this mostly because i didnt know either. Thank you.

Many people can’t enjoy this not because they haven’t seen it but because they don’t see the nature in a composed song like this. Not as a song worth listening to because they don’t care about it but a song they wouldn’t usually listen to and thus has a totally different understanding. On top of that a whole new meaning of life that you try to get over a different song you would normally listen to on the radio. Just gets overwritten and thought of depression or stuck in a bland version life that no “normal person” would want. Because in the end you don’t see songs like that in a certain part of the radio but only in the minds of people that shut their life so others don’t judge them. and it just gets overwritten as time flies by only to be remembered by the people who share this song to their younger piano successor. And feel like actually expressing their actually normal desires to compose a song that could possibly have more emotion and compassion and rage and symphony that you can’t not cry. Thank you spikes. How can I beat that
