I could see the different bases filling different needs, one for base coating & one for detailed. Though as someone prone to arthritis in my fingers I could see the thin one causing me pain if I hold it by the narrow part. I'd be interested in giving it a try.

Whenever GW comes out with an accessory I immediately look to find out the generic name and find the normal version's lower price. Getting it from them doesn't even occur to me anymore.

I just noticed that on the box of the new one they literally took the images from last years handle and put it in the box you can tell by the handle having the flat sides instead of the round ones the new ones have.

Seems a little cheaper but more ergonomic. I do think your supposed to hold the round part in your palm and let the thin part rest in between your thumb and index finger.

It's easier to hold and bit lighter (which might help with longer sessions) i like the ergonomic change. BUT it feels cheap and they reduced number of springs per side from 3 to 1 and after month of usage it starts getting loose.

I got only the new one (MK II aka 2020) and boy I would kill for those towery-like handles!!! It's so small, that I can literally use any wine cork and there is as much grip as on this handle! :( :(

Hard pass for me. I bought the first handle and didn’t really care for it. Would have been great if I had 20+ handles so I wouldn’t have to constantly switch out the models. A wine cork, mdf round base to give some stability for tipping over works perfectly for me. Far cheaper

My 2 cents, a good handle has the option to rest the assembly against a surface while upside down (hint the Hobby Holder with a Stability Bar), this allows you to get to those surfaces while keeping the mini in a rock solid position. I own the other Citiadel Handles (they have their place) but I won't be picking one of these up.

Wanna bear the truth? Costs more and is made cheaper. Only one spring and the grip is smaller to use less plastic. Simple as that. They could've made the heads available separately but they rather sell a cheaper and more expensive versione of something everyone already has

No comment on square bases? GW made a bug deal about AoS being cool with square bases. So 2 of my armies are on square. On the old handle they just about work. The new one looks awful for squares

Held the new one in my hands over the weekend. I does feel pretty cheap especially with just one spring on top instead of two. The way it curves and gets very narrow at the neck also makes it feel like it will slip while painting. Did not like it at all personally.
