So many trucks! This reminds me of when my Girl Guide camp burned the garlic bread. We had minor smoke so we opened the windows and called the rural fire department “just to be safe”. Well, they said evacuate and they sent everybody! We had the hazmat guys out for butter drips from leaking foil creating smoke off the element. I think they were very bored most days up there!

That’s true, but MerkkyBoy was trying to make it seem like they throw too many resources on simple “on the street” car fires. All car accidents on highways get 2&2 not just car fires, and I think all departments have special matrixes for fires in tunnels, bridges, and other unique places.

@@timpullen7828 He had two bars. When there is a tour vacancy in a Battalion or Division it is typically filled by a member from the immediate rank below. For example, if a Deputy position is vacant for a particular tour, a Battalion Chief will be assigned to act out of title for that tour as an Acting Deputy. Therefore, that Battalion Chief's spot will also have to be filled (since he will be detailed to another location), and _most likely_ be filled by a Captain acting out of title for that tour. They will select a member who is on a current promotional list for that rank. If there is more than one member working who is on the list, they will chose according to highest list number. If such an individual is not available they will then chose the most senior member from that rank that is working. If they feel that a particular section of the city happens to have an unusual number of Acting Battalion Chiefs working during a tour they will move people around, and a regular Battalion Chief may find himself detailed to another Borough for that tour.
