Wonderlust was the first witch I followed on YT and she led me to the rest of you, which I’m so grateful for. As a witch who has returned to their craft after years of abandonment, Olivia made me feel at home in my practice again. You all have fantastic content and I love that you’re individuals! I agree so much with thewitchofwanderlust's point at 2:05:00. I think a lot of newer practitioners worry so much about if they are doing something right, or if something will truly work, that they forget they can just find out by doing. I know it comes from a deep fascination and wanting to know absolutely everything, but the only way to find out what works and what doesn't, is to "fuck around and find out" (in a good way haha). Why ask other people when you can just ask your universe, ya know? I've learned so much from the unexpected results that come from pure experimentation, that I'm not really sure how one would build a practice without doing that.
@SaraMay-cr9sx5 ай бұрын
Cleanse, protect THEN f**k around and find out is my motto 😄 it prevents accidental demon summoning (I learned this by not following my own advice the first angelic summoning ritual I did, a demon showed up and clawed my leg and burned my neck it was super sketch so I agree mostly with your comment but also, a simple cleanse/protection ward spell prior or just saying a prayer to your angels and ancestors/deities asking them to protect you through your Magick practice is insanely helpful in staying safe while you do your magickal experiments! ✨💯🌟

Whee! Commenting as I watch 💖 - I totally get Marshall's comment about adding disclaimers to everything. It's honestly really frustrating that we as creators feel the need to add disclaimers to our content. In my experience, the only reason we add these disclaimers in is to either help mitigate hate/troll comments and "one true way-isms", or for the people that will take everything we say literally and think our way is the only way, and that they have to follow everything we do down to the letter. Adding in these disclaimers is simple, but it gets to be a lot when we have to do it with every single piece of content we make. And I don't even have a large following! 😂 - One thing that I've always struggled with re: imposter syndrome is that I don't *like* making really produced videos. Like yeah, they're pretty and visually pleasing but 1) they're a whole hell of a lot of work and 2) it really doesn't feel authentic for me. And I know the point of making videos is to share information and also be pleasing to watch, so it does make me feel kind of imposter-ish when I put a lot of work into a video that's authentic for me and then it flops or doesn't do well, or even ends up criticized for one reason or another. I never want to feel like I'm being performative, and that's part of why I don't do a lot of spells on my channel. - Yes to Marshall's comment about wasting stuff! I really don't like wasting my ingredients, so I don't like to do demonstrations of things I'm not going to actually use. - Nike, you're not alone -- I totally relate to the commentary and how it's affected me over my entire life. If I'm not careful, that spiral of my thoughts can get really down really fast. Those thoughts of "Why am I even doing this?" definitely come into play. - Omg Olivia, I've gotten comments about how I look, too. One of the first videos I did where I didn't where a bunch of make-up had someone in my comments telling me I look sick, tired, and my energy was off and they weren't coming back to my channel anymore 😅 it's ridiculous! - I really, really hate the algorithm and the way it works! Haul videos aren't my thing, spell videos aren't my thing. It's really an inspiration drain and affects my creativity when I talk about something I'm passionate about and it's like talking to dead air. And even on Instagram - I have over 1k followers but my reach is never more than 20% of that, if at all. It's just like...why? And getting views on KZbin is so weird, too, because I have over 7k subs but my videos hardly ever break over 200 views. I don't know, it's just... blegh 😂 And I really hate short-form content. Reels and TikTok aren't inspiring. I just can't do it. - Ivy, thank you so much for putting this conversation together! It was really refreshing to see everyone talk so candidly, and also very heartwarming and affirming to know I'm not alone in the way some of this stuff makes me feel, even as a smaller creator. 💖💖💖💖💖💖

Olivia's comment about the coffee reminded me, ever since I started watching spiritual/witchy content I've gotten anti coffee ads (ads that bash coffee and claim you should drink tea/mushrooms instead). 🤣 I'm a witch who enjoys coffee. It's such a weird thing to be hateful over, but I've seen it often enough and I was wondering if it was just me seeing that. Also I related to what Nike mentioned about heathenry even though I don't make witchy vids on KZbin, I've had some experiences like that in person. I'm FtM trans, I've had a Celtic pagan friend try to give me flack about my interest in heathenry due to it's negative connotations. What Nike mentions about getting attacked by all sides always put me off to making witchy vids.

You're right! It doesn't go away and it doesn't stop No matter how long you video on your channel in Paganism on whatever path because there will always be someone who disagrees or thinks they know more than you(about your own opinion or practice even) or can do something better likewise or that your path is infinitely wrong etc and it can initiate within you character traits you don't like about yourself where those didn't exist before. This all renders you into the state of KZbin burnout in the end if you let it, as I did in part to what made me lay it down for a rather long period of time...REGRETFULLY, I might add as I try now to get back to where I ended atleast, having lost a great deal of my subscribers in the time I was away, six years in fact. I dealt with all of this as a Witch/Wiccan KZbin creater and unfortunately most of the trolling comes from people that identify themselves as being on the same path or similar path as you. I agree with so much the four of you discussed in this video and I think you all have so many beautiful gifts within you and not just upon your own spiritual pathways but upon your life paths in general. Many Bright Blessings to you!

I am all for the longer videos!🙌 I absolutely love all your content. I find you all to be so informative and i appreciate how much effort you put into what you put out. Its obvious you all really care about your practices.💜 You have all inspired me to get back into my own personal practice and to get back into reading and learning after many years of feeling burnt out and stuck, which real life can do sometimes. I never knew the kind of BS creators put up with. Its wild to me that people feel like they can tell anyone what they should snd should not do. Like they say, "opinions are like assholes and everybody's got one", its just unfortunate that some people cant offer theirs in a more constructive manner and feel they need to tear someone else down for ridiculous reasons. Olivia, your "resting bitch face vibe" is awesome! Maybe its the Capricorn (fellow Cap here) but i get that from people too. I dont see you as seeming "tired or upset", to me you seem very sweet and genuine. I am new to Nike's content but i love it so far and Marshall is sooooo creative, i will be getting your book! Sorry to rant but i appreciate you all and creators like you. warning, wall of text ahead, two+ hours of comments: -#1-thank you to everybody for such an amazing and candid discussion. ivy, this is the conversation i wish everyone could hear, i mean on every channel on youtube!. this discussion reminds me of the difficulties of being a Freelance Graphic Artist in the 1980s. having to appeal to everyone, having to cave into everyone's needs and wants, wondering if you were good enough, having some people say you are crap while having others tell you it's amazing. the political people and niche cliques of society having their own opinions. it was a mental mess sometimes. but you folks have this ten thousand times crazier, and broadcast world-wide. i cannot even imagine the level of stress you sometimes feel. -#2 I think these group creator meetings are awesome and super important for both you and the viewers. i've got an inside perspective from doing it, but most people have no idea how much work, how many hundreds of hours a month can go into filming, editing, and other preparation. it can be a freakin' nightmare if you are on a real deadline. and then when you get feedback from idiots, it can be devastating after all those hours of planning, research, and effort. this is like the best group therapy, encouraging each other, while educating the masses. -#3-My entire background is in advertising/marketing, so i totally understand all of that sponsorship stuff. For all the work you do, if you cannot get enough from viewers you have every right to reach out to other supporters, like advertisers and other sponsors. I'm considering forming my own organization to fund Occult Channels, no ad, just a blurb or title in the credits. -#4-yes, i do try to search channels, but the channel search is really bad. i often do better searching google to find the relevant video! -#5-Imposter Syndrom - this means that you are Sane, and may not know all of the answers. My own dumbass thought i had imposter syndrome until i realized that i really was the best at my job in my office. i actually got a raise, and was assigned to train all the people in my department. So hey, give yourselves some credit for all you research & practice, you could very well be one of the few people talking about your topic. if you truly dig deep down the rabbit hole, you may actually *become* one of the experts, especially for rare occult & obscure topics. -#6-Warrior Witch Nike, i had no idea of the political bs you have to deal with. I am a USA person trying to Support Ukraine against Russia, and even I am getting FlashBack (including nationalist racist) for defending them. One would think a cause such as that is so clearly defined, but even that often causes arguments/fights. I totally appreciate you sharing such personal practice, and teaching us what you know. i seriously cannot believe, (but i know you are not lying!) that people actually btch about your name, OMG! -what fkd up trolls, seriously! -also, yes, i need to slow down, so much. i sometimes type half my comment before a vid is done. also, i've so much yet to learn, and really need to chill and study/practice more. -#7-I agree with Southern Witch, but i think he is Confusing the terms "Privacy" and "Gatekeeping" , i.e.: both involve Boundaries, but they have different connotations. Warrior Nike also raised these concerns. I believe, as you all do, it is possible to teach without giving away your own practice - another challenge to be sure, but doable and probably safer as well. So although the terminology may be not perfect, it is a great, and very important point. One could say that there are the "rules of the practice" and "the rules of MY practice" -and that can be muddy ground at times... -#8-Witch of Wonderlust, you were one of my first 'witchy subscriptions' years ago, and i'll admit, one of the reasons was bk your Cinematography is so freakin awesome, as i came from a photography background. but i have to admit, once you did your basic spell videos, i was off and running, creating my own spells. while i sometimes wondered what your 'advanced' stuff may be, i only imagined you saying to me, 'figure it out,' , and i did. -no seriously, i imagined you standing there like, 'what the fck, c'mon, get it together!' -and it really helped! -#9-Southern Witch made a great comment (hinting) about creating a Coalition, as Esoterica did, or sort of has, and i've recently noticed, a bunch of Archaeology sites, Dinosaur sites, Music Channels; -(just as examples). they cross-link all sorts of topics and videos and people to get a massive group formed. i hope that happens with this, and with future projects. . -all of you deserve success!!! -#10-thank you for addressing my question & all the others. i hope that people understand that you are all human beings and not bots online; you all have lives; daily drama, as well as all this online stuff. -#11-Warrior Witch Nike, take portrait photos of various Heathans & Pagans and interview them while showing photo and video portraits onscreen. check out @SoftWhiteUnderbelly, may be a fkd up example, but gets the idea across of portratiure & interviews with unique (and even racist) individuals. -#13-All of you deserve so much success, best of fortune against the battle with math (the 'algorithm'), it drives me crazy too as a viewer, i don't always get updates, etc..., so it can be frustrating for all of us. i hope this is a summer of abundance, my altar is set for it**, and i'm 'praying' for all of us that this be a great year... **all-chaos-in: witchcraft magick, astral magick, angelic magick, southern magick, and throw a few more things on that altar and you've got a hurricane of energy i want for all of us to enjoy... ...bless you all, and thank all of you again for being here! 🪐

Reading this feedback was so wonderful, but I want to address the Gatekeeping vs privacy conversation. You mention they have different connotations and that's actually why I brought it up. I want to remind people that that negative connotation is made up. It's a way to weaponize a word that by definition means "the activity of controlling, and usually limiting, general access to something." That's it. So when I am private about my practice, that is by definition gatekeeping. That term has been taken by our community and used as a tool to create a negative emotional response and is now even used almost like a slur. I'm here to speak against that misappropriation of a very benign word. Thank you again for the feedback and I hope I've explained myself in a positively communicative way 🙏

Listening to you and just having my own feelings too, it's really hitting me that as a society we need to be more accepting of each other, not try to tell people what to do or how to live, learn from others rather than impose... and also create boundaries that help us to continue to grow more into ourselves despite opposition. Its ok to be me, I am wonderful, I will get even more like myself, people who say I need to be different than who I am are only suffering from this common sickness and I can heal myself and invite those who accept me into my circle and those who do not I allow the space to transform on thier own, in their own time, in their own space, away from me. Everyone that’s not a content creator should watch this VIDEO. This video shows a very practical and human side to creators. It actually made me feel guilty for comments I’ve written in the past. I’ve been a piece of poop 💩 too. I haven’t done nasty comments in a long time as I’ve watched videos like this one. Videos like this are the only thing that have made me evaluate my behavior when I’m in social media. Thank you all🌸 it’s always hard to do the right thing in my experience, but it always feels good afterwards ❤

This was a fantastic conversation to hear. Thank you Ivy for putting this panel of awesome humans together! My partner and I have a podcast network and create content 6 days a week…hearing the different perspectives here and the relatable challenges was refreshing and helpful Thanks again ❤️

Phew! Thank you so much for this panel discussion! As a visual artist I had already calculated that you do a HUGE amount of work to create your content, but WOW, everything else that goes with it!!! All I can say is thank you for continuing to do it and for your willingness to teach and share through these platforms. Incredible.

As a follower who has recently started on my spiritual journey I’ve actually got turned off by negative content. Thank you for pushing through the negative comments and sticking to spreading the light and teaching us. Omg lol im not a creator but I get the whole “being on” I work at Starbucks and I am pretty peopy but I definitely get exhausted some days. I work close to home so I see my customers outside of work while I’m shopping

I like to thank all of use are you are all amazing, talented smart and down to earth honest people You may not be proud, but I am and I like to. Thank you for keeping me insane, while my visits to the hospital I like to thank you for doing what you do. Please don’t listen to jealous people or most of us appreciate the work that you do. I enjoy listening, learning watching you all. I’m no longer able to get around due to having a double amputation. Thank you to you all. Keep strong and keep doing what you do best thank you.

Thank you for sharing! As an elder (maybe just old) ArtWitch content creator with a teeny number of subs, I began my channel to share a few points of view. I agree with what you are all saying as young, white and bi-racial Witches, it must be difficult to hit this learning curve. I'm sure you have more people who love your work than dislike what you are saying and I hope you all keep going. I just want to say that the most salient point I heard was that it is just humanity. It doesn't matter what you say and who you are, though I would never erase the struggles of marginalized people, you will always have extreme watch and attack dogs on the right and left step in to say you are not enough. The reason to keep going is to know how important your messages are regardless of reactions or numbers. I stepped away for a couple of years to regroup and just returned. I am inspired to hear your opinions though I grew up in a world without social media. I hope in the future you and other KZbin Witches hold panels with a cross-section of open-minded Witches of all ages, cultures, gender expressions, abilities, and beliefs.❤

I'm currently watching this video and I am so glad y'all explained things from you're pov. I actually emailed you a couple of days ago hoping to be able to get some clarification on certain things you've done or said in other videos. In this video, y'all were talking about how you're bombarded with people contacting you for advice, let's be friends, here's my traumas, or even just to cuss you out for things they particularly didn't like. I didn't realize how much you have to deal with, that's not necessary, and I just rolled my eyes, felt awful, and was like, "that was me!" I didn't realize my email was exactly what y'all were talking about. So, thank you for helping me, and many others, understand things from y'alls pov!

I really loved the video and am grateful that you all talked about your own experiences on these topics. I am a super smaller Creator but deal a lot in guiding people finding their own connections and developing their own craft. Entitlement of our time always seems to be an issue that creeps up, which is why setting and holding strong boundaries is necessary. It's not always easy, especially when we want to be interactive with our communities, but it is necessary for our own energy and mental health. Really great topics and conversation around them. Thank you!

I really loved this, and it gave me a lot to think about as I how and whether to emerge into the public. I think one of the thing that's stopped me regarding social media is that it goes both ways -- I want to be able to feel some sense of community and connection with others, which means I should spend at least as much time watching other peoples' content and commenting as I do making my own--but making content takes SO much time, especially if we're pressured to stage, edit, and make content that looks beautiful and "professional."

I think that all of you are so brave to put your practice & teachings out there. It's so annoying & frustrating how comment culture flares over the silliest things. But despite that downside, y'all help so many people learn about Magick & explore this path for themselves. Not everyone has community where they live and it can really mean a lot to have teachers and online mentors. Sooo, that said, just want to say thank you for all your endlessly hard work & for sharing your energy in this way. I truly hope the culture evolves to be more respectful and less needy for negative interaction.

Came here from Nikes community post! I LOVE videos like this, where witchy and/or pagan creators come together and discuss, there's just so much to learn and it's the primary way I learn about new creators (found Olivia first, then Nike, then Marshall through their communities interacting). I'm excited to check out your channel, and thank you for hosting this panel!

I'm grateful because I've learned all this wonderful information on KZbin! Everything from spirituality, meditation, manifestation, witchcraft and more. I'd be a different person without creators like these 4. I am very grateful and I love supporting these creators as well. I'm grateful that I'm much more able to support them now buying whatever I can. Something I'll simply let the ads play so they can be paid more. I love to comment too and sad that comments can be soooo negative! I have a few creators I can't wait to join their paid groups.
