elk buttons, everything we would need to make our festival clothes. Made looms and taught myself how to weave using heavy embroidery floss and beads. My youngest son & I would trade beads. I also taught myself crazy quilting and used it in my jackets. Fell into a clinical depression and severe anxiety disorder with panic attacks. Suffered insomnia and believe I would have totally lost my mind without my creative endeavers! Like you, I was always into fashion and beautiful things. Still am!

How lovely to find out a little about you. I had you mentally categorized as a model, now I see that you may have been or still are a model, but you are also a real woman like the rest of us. I am well beyond age 40, but I find that I am easily able to adapt your outfits to fit my age and body type. I live in South Carolina, USA in a very warm, humid climate. Hi Mary, I'm so pleased you like my videos thank you so much for letting me know. I wish I lived in a much warmer climate than we have here in England! I think a lot of the dresses we're seeing at the moment are perfect for those warmer climates. Lots of lovely cottons and linen blends that I think work with any age. I'm not sure if you saw the H&M haul I did recently but it's worth keeping an eye on their Premium collection. It's so reasonably priced and the fabrics, particularly this season, are beautiful quality but lovely and light too. 3 boys!. I don't know how you managed. I started late and I only have one. Wish that I could have more but am grateful for the one. My daughter is now.11 and I can see the teenage years already lol. like you i became super fascinated by fashion as a child... at a very young age i started to draw and design, and i started buying fashion magazines around the age of 10 (in my first language) and i started religiously buying Vogue magazine every month at the age of 12 or 13. I studied fashion design and commercialization in college and then, went to business school and studied marketing in uni. i dont really care about fashion anymore, im more into style now. i know your channel is about fashion and style, but it would be nice to see what you eat in a full week so we could get some inspiration for our meal planning :)

I live in Michigan in the USA but have lived in England over the years since both of my parents were from England (Mansfield and Nottingham). They later owned a home in Devon near Torquay. I started watching fashion videos to learn how to buy clothes more wisely. I would buy things on sale or be drawn to a beautiful pattern, but then ended up with a lot of clothes that didn't go together. I loved your Breton shirt video - it seems like the perfect shirt to go with everything. Definitely one solution to the problem I was having! haha

I didn't start running after 40 yrs young, now I already ran 2 marathons and many half marathons and short distances. During this lockdown, I start running more at home. I believed once you start to commit yourself to live a healthy lifestyle, you will enjoy being active all the time.

@@FashionStyleEdit Also try LRC ratios: 2:1 pattern, this allows two steps for each breath in and two for each breach out. try to strike your foot right as you start a breath, to assist the ventilatory transition. Intermittently change your leading foot to avoid always landing on the same foot during transition, as this may result in increased injury risk on that side.

@@FashionStyleEdit There are a few things you can do. 1. Nasal breathing versus oral breathing. 2. Chest breathing versus diaphragmatic breathing. Remember, always proper warm-up and cool down before and after to prevent injury. The last thing, don't give up and keep running, you can do it!=).

Yes for low carb! My husband and I having been following this for a bit now and feel it makes sense for us. I started running recently too-which is crazy to me!! I’m a trained ballet/modern dancer. I don’t run. But it’s free and convenient at this point in time!😄 Usually my gym is a dance studio but as a Mama of three driving to even one dance class a week is hard to schedule in. I love your channel for so many reasons! I’ve often thought of starting a channel but taking the plunge is a bit scary. I too was wild for fashion and makeup from an early age. Watching my Mom was probably the inspiration behind my love for it. She was an actress and was always involved in theatre. I used to looooove playing around with theatre makeup and I was lucky enough to be able to constantly play with really beautiful costumes and even fabric at the theatre and in my home. My mom was really (still is) beautiful and naturally slender with an eye for fashion. It just rubbed off on my sister and even my brother. We enjoy fashion! So a channel like yours-someone with your detailed eye and understanding of fashion is so refreshing and inspiring to my sensibilities. Thanks so putting great info out there!❤️

I hate the idea of thinking 'I wish I'd tried' something, it's always good for the soul to have a go. Sometimes it doesn't work out but it's the action of trying that forms who you are I think:) I love to watch Ballet, I did it when I was younger but I wouldn't say I was very good! And then of course figure skating took over and my heart was lost to that! You might like this Wednesday's video as i'll be talking about what I eat in a day. That was lovely Jess. I grew up in the Ribble Valley but moved to Milan when I was 19 and have lived in Italy ever since. I now live in a seaside resort on the Adriatic coast. I used to draw outfits when I was about 5 or 6, mostly evening and occasion wear and was really into fashion as a teenager but during my 20s and 30s lost interest as my career and life took over. This Q & A was a perfect way to get to know you Jess. And yes, you're a natural on camera! I'm turning 55 in a couple of weeks and have always enjoyed clothing and being stylish. I have worked in an office environment for most of my career so corporate wear has featured heavily. My style has relaxed a wee bit (no longer wearing power suits) but I still like to look professional and polished. KZbin channels, such as yours, helps immensely! I learn a great deal and find I have the courage to try things I would never have considered before. I live in Adelaide, South Australia so I'm always in opposite seasons but I am used to that. Enjoyed! I was an runway model in the late seventies and eighties in Toronto and had a wonderful time with it! Like you said you have to take the whole modeling world with a grain of salt and keep an level head on your shoulders. I graduated from university not only debt free but with savings from my modeling career. I then went into my career in psychology for twenty five years and now enjoying retirement with my husband and our Aussie doodle.😊🍁

Very interested in hearing about your background. You also just handed out a carrot to a writer! My love of fashion began as a child too, as my mum had her own women's fashion retail business. I would go on buying trips with her to London and come home with black bin liner bags full of clothes and say I want this, that and this. Although I didn't follow her in to the business, about 12 years ago I considered it by enrolling on a styling course where I learned all about colour and shape. I run my own publications and editorial services business now. I am a 57-year-old single mum to a 14-year-old daughter and guess what we most like doing together, shopping for clothes. When I was growing up my mother's people made almost all of my clothes. They taught me how to sew. When I was very young my sister and I would spend afternoons going thru tins of old buttons. It was like treasure! Then we would trade them. I have 2 sons and I made all their Halloween costumes. I'm part Native American so we would go to pow wows and buy deer hides, ermine pelts

It's appropriate on this Mother's Day to give credit to my mother for my interest in fashion. However, the sharply tailored pieces that looked so good on her straight figure were a disaster on my curves, so I had to find my own style along the way. My grown daughters also enjoy clothes, and one is an excellent bargain shopper of high-end items, so I hope I have passed along the fun of self-expression through what one wears.

As for me, my love of fashion came with my love of makeup. Starting at around 3 years of age, I watched my maternal aunt apply her makeup. She allowed me to use her lipstick 💄. She taught me how to apply it meticulously & with such grace. Next, my Mom had a hot pink outfit she would wear when she & my father would go out. I asked her if she would save it for me when I got older😂. I would play dress up in her clothes & heels. I too read the fashion magazines. I am a child of the 70's. Gloria Vanderbilt was really popular. At age 7, I was gifted a GV turquoise blue sweater with a matching skirt, shoes & handbag. I wore it over & over. In my late teens, I became a makeup artist for Merle Norman Cosmetics. Fast forward, I got a job as an Information Systems Specialist & wore suits. I would shop at Nordstrom Off the Rack, Macy's & Lohmann's. I was fortunate & found some beautiful 4 piece suits for a fraction of the price. I never lost my passion for fashion when I was working. Then COVID-19 hit. I lost my passion for a moment. In 2020, I was selected as a model for The Inkey List Skincare campaign. My passion for makeup & skincare was restored. Then, 2022 I discovered you. What I love most about you is that you‘re so authentic. I‘m a bit late to the party but I‘ll still give my two cents: My interest in fashion actually started at the tender age of six when stumbling across an old box of my mother‘s 70ies hippie clothes packed away in the attic. Flares, flower print blouses and skirts (bright green paired with pink!), wide, studded cowboy belts and an afro wig! I was in heaven. 😍 At 17, I went to Australia as an exchange student and fell in love with an Aussie farm boy and sheep shearer (think ‚Thorn Birds‘) - my fashion interest thus shifted towards men‘s fashion (how do you get a REALLY hunky guy to stop wearing the most unflattering outfits possible..?). 30 years and two kids later, I still haven‘t succeeded. 😬😂 At 19, I lived in Paris as a nanny for a year and loved browsing through all those beautiful independent Boutiques (though I could never afford to buy anything). And with my pop music project, I had to try and define who I was (or wanted to be) fashion-wise. The style has stuck with me - a boyish gamine-style, often men‘s shirts, relaxed chinos or skinny jeans paired with high-heeled ankle boots (even though i‘m 5‘ 11“). Neutral tones. There you go. Hey Jess , my favourite place in Oz would have to be Holowiliena, a Sheep Station near the Flinders Ranges. Not just because of the amazing scenery, wildlife and the fact that it‘s heaven for teenage boys (driving an old car and riding motorbikes on dirt tracks), but also the lovely station owners that have been dear friends of ours for many years. I just want to say thank you! I absolutely love watching your videos and your style choices are my favorite! I live in LA the (ugh) crop top capital of the world! I love that you would wear trainers with a dress... I feel like you don't see that so much here, it seems to me, people in LA think they need to look sexy all the time with 3 to 4 inch heels, tight dresses etc.... I love that you look chic and elegant but at the same time edgy with a confidence that says...I know myself and my style is my own. I loved learning more about you and your family and anytime you’d like to give us a tour of your home, you know I’ll be right there watching! My Mother and one of my sisters used to model, so I always loved watching them get ready and fell in love with fashion and design at an early age. Being the youngest of four girls meant a house full of clothes, makeup and shoes! My mother later became an interior decorator and that’s also a passion of mine, although not my profession. I worked in the corporate world for 30 yrs as a VP in Human Resources. I retired early so I could help care for my Mom who was diagnosed with Dementia. I know it's not easy but any moments you can give yourself you absolutely should. And you're so right, having something creative, that's just for you, is good for the soul. Charlotte and I met via a mutual friend, I can't remember exactly but I think she popped round with a gift voucher for someone. We live next door to each other and she's an amazing friend. That was fun, Jess. I always like to have the big picture before the details so I feel even happier watching your channel- my favorite fashion channel btw. I have a fashion/beauty/modeling background starting at age 3 when I cut my hair, all my dolls hair, and re-did their makeup with my mother’s red nail enamel. Fortunately my Southern (USA) mama was into fashion and beauty herself so I had lots of support. Southern women do not leave the house without full makeup, it is in the dna. Did I correctly deduce from the timing of your birthday comments that you are a Pisces? My fave jeans are also 7 for all mankind. Being an Autumn I wear different colors from your Summer palette. Perhaps we will see a vid on different color palettes sometime? XO

I am a Pisces through and through! Except for the lazy part! I love working and particularly when I'm stressed or upset I find it therapeutic to work. That made me laugh about your dolls, it's a horrible moment when you realise their hair won't grow back isn't it!! Great minds think alike on the Jeans, the fits amazing isn't it. I do live all the neutral tones I must admit but I'm slowly but surely trying to introduce a touch more colour into my wardrobe:) I just filmed a new video actually where you'll be pleased to hear I feature the most gorgeous red dress!! I am close to forty as well and I don’t like the high street stores (I dislike that everything seams to be made of polyester/plastic/oil) so when possible please offer examples of clothes made of sustainable materials as well even if they are a bit more expensive. That's an interesting question, I'm currently wearing Byredo 'Rose of no man's land'. I love the creativity of the brand, his thinking behind each fragrance and of course the scent. Which is so beautiful. It's quite strong but I love that when a fragrance lasts all day xx
