Rant: It could've been a new Renaissance with films like Atlantis, Treasure Planet, & the original concept for Emperor's New Grove. Even though they've been playing it safe for kid-friendly audiences since the early 2000s, instead of their older model of "the whole family" appeal. Imo, that's what made Studio Ghibli so successful

The reason why they want gorillas so badly, is because it takes place in the late 1800s where Darwin's theory of evolution has been published. I hope even the people talking about "Disney is so soft these days" can admit that scene is definitely going to stick with a lot of children for all the wrong, detrimental reasons. The movie is what it is and I would not say change it, but man I hope kids that came into it were mature and knowledgeable enough to have a concept before watching a man hang himself (and even more than that, you can see the shadow of his dangling body in a flash of lightning in that same scene).

They start a family and get life going, only to get mauled by some huge f--k off cat. Like that Florida Flooding Alligator movie (Crawl), or Cujo, or Jaws, or Anaconda. I could see a bleak A24 or a crappy Blumhouse film being made based on that premise. I don't think a whole lot of people made too many exotic cat horror/thrillers.

Apes actually do know how to use tools, lots of them use sticks, and even cover them in in honey (or shit) and stick them in termite and any hills to get a ton of insects out to eat. The real issue is their bodies aren’t proportioned the same ways our our, so they can’t utilize tools as effectively as we can. They’re too top heavy and can’t get the same range of motion or strength in a throw of something like a rock or spear that humans can. Not to mentioned they can’t make stuff like spears, they can’t strategize as well as we can, so it all just plays against them

I definitely think you should watch Tarzan 2! I used to really like that one. Also, their show is surprisingly good. They had this one colonel character who was just so threatening. I adored him as a villain. They also finally remembered that humans are in Africa without being shipwrecked first...so that was nice to see.
