I think my favorite moment has to be the part where Scooby keeps messing up Dick's name, because he's clearly doing it on purpose so he can escape. Also, Dick was one of the highlights of the movie. I like all the spilling the milk scooby doo reaction content. I really want them to react to the Scooby doo camp scare movie. It's a very fun movie.Highly recommended. What makes it good is that it's drenched in apreciation for the horror movie genre. Specially for movies from the 80's like Friday the 13th. It actually uses horror movie tropes and aspects even in the visuals to real advantage. It's a little overcomplicated for its own good at times but it's a great movie overall with a great atmosphere, very well animated, pretty decent twists and even musical references to Scooby doo mystery inc. I think it would be very fun to see them react to the movie and that they probably would enjoy it a lot.

Ok, my history with this movie- I fucking hate. It is actually my least favorite movie. For context, I am a tall, lanky guy in his twenties with longer brown hair, and I can do a pretty good Shaggy impression. When this movie was coming out, it was originally meant for theaters (fun fact, there's a shit ton of Scooby Doo movies but only the first two live action ones were actually in theaters!). I was planning on dressing up as Shaggy for the opening of this movie, make a big scene ("Like, have you seen my dog? He's about this tall, brown fur, blue collar, goes by "Scooby Dooby Doo"?") and order a ton of popcorn or something, even if the film was bad. Then a FUCKING GLOBAL PANDEMIC HIT THE FUCKING GLOBE when the release date was like two months away (if I remember correctly they announced it wasn't going to theaters about a month before it would release). The first Scooby Doo movie to hit theaters in almost twenty years and a fucking pandemic just, came out of nowhere two months before. Ok, so the PLOT- literally is manageable UNTIL Simon Cowell shows up. Everything about it I could stomach up until SIMON FUCKING COWELL shows up. God that's a sentence I said. I really don't hate the amount of Hanna Barbara references that are shoved into this film, but that's really the only interesting part of the film. IT'S NOT EVEN REALLY A MYSTERY- it's just a random knock off Avengers movie, with all these different characters from different shows from the 60's and 70's showing up to "fight the evil guy". There's nothing about this that even screams "Scooby Doo" unless you count everything from right before SIMON COWELL shows up (I guess you could count that as something as well, since the Scooby gang would just, team up with celebrities occasionally, but it just feels... off. idk.). That, and the CAST. THE MAIN CAST OF THE GANG. God I'm crying. You cannot convince me, all these big Hollywood dickwads weren't like, "ok, THIS is the BIGGEST ANIMATED MOVIE OF 2020- we NEED to hire ONLY POPULAR CELEBRITIES to do the voices" and then when it came to Scooby's voice they couldn't find anyone to do a good enough impression so they got Frank Welker to do it. The guy who voiced Fred for 50 some years. Who voices Fred in this? Oh, ZAC EFRON. EVEN SHAGGY- like, if you want to do the rest of the gang's voices different, whatever, but Shaggy and Scooby are such a dynamic duo, that having one voice sound great and the other sound off just throws everything off. I literally cut out Shaggy's lines in the trailer, did a shitty job redubbing them, and it STILL sounded better. Now, what COULD HAVE BEEN- there was SO MUCH cut from this and it makes me so sad. There's a short video out there, I think it's called "hot chip ad- scoob test footage" and it shows a slightly different version of Shaggy, Scooby, and the Mystery Machine while the rest of the gang investigate a haunted house in the background, where the dynamic duo bump into Blue Falcon. And so much of it visually looks better- you still get a sense of, "these are the characters" but it's not like you clapped a 3D render over the 2D model and called it a day (not that that's bad, but... ). Like, Shaggy was wearing SOMETHING ELSE besides a green shirt and bell bottoms, he looked more like a stoner you'd see today. There was THOUGHT put into this. That and the original plot was more along the lines of "Blue Falcon was assembling a team of mystery solvers out of all the other Hanna Barbara properties, and the Scooby gang were going to be his latest recruits". Seriously, look up some of the art and rough storyboards for this movie, it's genuinely really good. There was so much love put into this that just got cut- Shaggy was going to adopt Scooby because his parents noticed he had no friends (and also funnily enough pointed out THAT DOG CAN TALK), the Scooby gang were originally going to operate like Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural in that they would travel the country in the Mystery Machine and hunt "real" ghosts like a ghost hunting show, but always end up catching someone in a mask, there were going to be A LOT more cameos from Hanna Barbara characters... it just breaks my heart that there was so much heart there but so little of it made it to the big screen. EDIT- I completely forgot this until Kor brought it up, but ORIGINALLY Scooby ends up seeing a real ghost in a haunted house and freaks out, drives the van around like a mad dog, and ends costing the gang a LOT of property damage and they lose their sponsers for the their ghost hunting gig, which makes SO MUCH more sense as to why Shaggy and Scooby would want to prove themselves instead of "Simon Cowell said we were lame"

This and Soul might be one of my favorite Animated movies from 2020. I think my favorite re-designs have to be Daphne and Velma. Also I didn’t know that this movie was a crossover when I first watched it. 1:24 Its a company. 2:01 I didn’t know that.
