It's been wild to watch him bungle this. For all his many, many faults, James has always been gifted at self promotion on social media. It's honestly been kind of shocking to see just how shitty a business owner he is. I think he assumed those skills would cross over and they have NOT. I keep finding myself comparing him to Cristine from Simply Nailogical. She has always been obsessed with nail polish, and when she set out to make her own, she had a clear vision. Holo Taco has been a success because it is a superior product, not because Cristine is good at promoting it. That has NOT been the case with James. Frankly, he was stupid to start his own company and not just do more Morphe-style collaborations with existing brands. All he's done by creating his own company is give himself a lot of time consuming headaches while creating stunningly mediocre products. I think the whole venture has been a waste of time for everyone involved. Even if you're not familiar with his scandals, I don't see anything about his products that are unique or even interesting. People who have never heard of Cristine buy Holo Taco because it has a well earned reputation for being high quality. If James' name wasn't attached to this stuff, no one would be talking about it at all. On its own, his makeup is completely uninteresting. Which is probably worse than if it was just bad.
