the problem with these illegal filming in South Korea is that the justice system in that country give these criminals laughable jail sentences, so it doesn't matter if you find evidence against the person, even if they go to jail there is a huge chance is that they get 6 to sometimes 4 months of jail time for their crimes. so the victims feel that there is no point in going to the police because the criminals won't be punished like they should be.

Everybody is just good with IT nowadays. Anyone can hook up a router nowadays or buy and set up a cam, but changing a default password or thinking of one better then a 12345 password seems to be too a bridge too far for a lot of them. Whenever people are going to be idiots not using common sense there's going to be people exploiting them. Also, never reuse usernames and passwords. I see people do this a lot. Use the same username and password for everything. Not very smart.

One of the major problems is garbage security in the device itself. Maybe don't look up how many cameras have exploitable security flaws. It really is absurd and requires a consumer to be knowledgeable about vulnerabilities of specific models. I don't even know the answer, there are so many security/IoT devices that have flaws. All I can say is pay more for your equipment, cheaper brands don't care about security protocols. More expensive doesn't necessarily mean secure, even large name brands have flaws but they'll be patched. Cheap stuff will likely not get security updates.
@itshugh67502 жыл бұрын
@@130rne unfortunately even the higher security brands have had their security issues. Which doesn't matter basically, most people who won't bother to change default passwords also won't bother updating these things to get them secure again unless it's a fully automatic process. I agree with the influx of Chinese cheap stuff security is usually an afterthought. However, making sure the things are updated and changing at least the default passwords makes sure your not a super easy target. Bad people always target the lowest hanging fruit unfortunately.

I highly recommend you never put any security cameras on you house THAT REQUIRE WIFI CONNECTIONS. Never buy those types of CAMERAS, THERMOSTATS, DOORBELLS, GARAGE DOOR OPENERS, KEYLESS SMARTLOCKS FOR DOORS AND IN SOME CASES EVEN YOUR CARS. I'm not sphere my advice take it or leave it, smart THERMOSTATS trash, smart locks trash, cars that use wife to start and unlock them trash. Easy to steal or hack into. Now security cameras always recommend having them but make sure they are the kind that have actual wires attached to them and run back to a main recording device, door locks cmon you not that lazy unlock it yoursel, if you don't get what I'm saying so far pretty much you don't need any smart anything as Kool as it might seem. Always have security cameras but always have your main recording system plus a backup incase burglars find one. Recommend a security system once again not connected to any internet. Just remember ppl when I started hacking the guy that thought me once told be,IF MAN MADE IT, MAN CAN BREAK IT. as much as these thing may be here to make life easier and you feel more secure, in a lot of way your more vulnerable than ever. It's to hard for me to explain everything so if any of you guys have questions please just ask and I'll help you if possible. Two years ago my cousin was sleeping in a crib at the time and we have a camera pointed at the crib. so basically she was sleeping and a man started singing her lullaby’s.. my grandmother was able to record it and we unplugged the camera and took out the batteries. Also at my dads house we have cameras in every room since I have younger siblings so it always makes me worried that someone’s watching.

this is AWFUL and it irks me to an ENORMOUS amount that people talk about influencers making the tiniest mistakes more than things like THIS that are LITERALLY so DANGEROUS! people need to talk about things like this more and not influencers tripping on a red carpet. (random example) 21:40 not correct. if there is a GAP between your finger and your reflection's finger, that's when you know it's a genuine mirror. if not, that's a one-way mirror meaning someone's watching through the glass. just sharing that so nobody touches a mirror in a bathroom and freaks out because they're all one-way mirrors. i went to london a few weeks ago and i felt UNSAFE because of all of these cases. i shouldn't have. it would have been a lovely holiday if my hotel room didn't feel dangerous to sleep in. i was cautious to not go onto anything personal on my phone. the worst part was, there was a vent that put cold air into the room (the window didn't open for safety reasons) and i was so freaked out at night by it.
@maggiegao80072 жыл бұрын
Getting footage of you is way more dangerous than an intruder. It is very rare for someone to break into your house, but everyone uses the internet now. They could easily blackmail you which is way more dangerous than having someone hostage. I personally live in a very secure neighborhood so I don't use cameras. Edit: Oh S**T I NEED TO COVER UP MY WEBCAM. It's would be kinda funny if the hackers hacked your phone webcam and they just see like a 8 y/o kid playing minecraft while on the toilet. That would be me when I was 8 y/o. Edit 2: Also I suggest buy something that is not internet related like a baby cam I have, its like a monitor and the only way to view the cameras is through the monitors. It doesn't even need wifi. Buy something old school like security cameras that only lets you get access through the monitor that comes with it. It doesn't ask you for a password since the only device it works with is the one that came with it. You won't be able to record anything, but you can always just leave a charging phone that you dont use and just record it with the recording app.

That's what you get if you use the same password for everything. Use it on a website and your smart home, website gets hacked, your username and password gets on a list and software is used to see if it can be used on other sites. Don't reuse the same passwords and usernames everywhere. I've taken a few cybersecurity classes, and 100% the biggest vulnerability with devices that can be remotely accessed is not changing the default password. I recommend disabling remote access completely, but if you need it, please change the password to something complicated that you haven't used anywhere else. For a password, I'd recommend taking a phrase or collection of random words. Switch out some letters with symbols and some with numbers, and never use that password for anything else. If you do it right, it would literally take a hacker billions of years to brute force it
@cpete14592 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend a remote lock as a lock for front doors. It's a mess waiting to happen. Sure, we like to think of access with an ease. Especially with a toddler and a handful of groceries. But just keep it simple, have a deadbolt and a regular lock. Take your kid out first, and then come back for your groceries.

Great video as always. By the way, a 'pay pig' is a term used in the BDSM community, specifically in the financial domination subsection. I'm not sure who she is, or what her niche is, but that's where that term comes from. Findom consists of usually a woman who is the dominatrix and a sub who is the paypig. They get off on being talked to like they're worthless and giving all their money to their dom. It goes deeper than just that but just trying to give you more context on that word. If that's the community she's in, and her audience is as well, that's perfectly fine. If she's not in that niche, then it really shows you how she views her audience, wow.
