Kitchen Nightmares is the show that truly gave me trust issues about going out... I like eating at the comfort of my own home. When I do eat out, at a restaurant, I always do my research and keep my eye out for any red flags. Honestly cutting out fast food, like McDonald's (etc.) has been one of the best choices I've made for myself

Nutria. It would be perfect. They are plentiful and cheap in Louisiana, tasty seasoned just right, and it would give Popeyes another connection with it's roots. Why it's right up there with fried frogs legs and alligator tales. They could do a medley, call and it Southern Fried Taste of the Swamps.

Wasn’t there a study done about 15 years ago that tested the amount of transmitable diseases per 1000 rats in NYC and found that the chance of getting sick from contact is less than 1%, with the main cause of disease being the insects and parasites rats tend to be host to?

From poor food handling to dirty kitchens and employees messing with the food, I eat at home 99.98% of the time. It sucks to have to cook all the time. Positives are I’ve lost a couple pounds snd saved enough money to treat myself to great quality meals at 4-5star restaurants!

I worked in restaurants for years . I've never encountered rats or roaches . The cleanest restaurant I worked at is The Holiday House in DeLand , Florida . Mrs Cook ran her restaurant with an iron fist . Everything had to be followed to get specifications . Her son was second in charge . The food was the absolute best . When the restaurant closed at night a cleaning crew came in and cleaned the restaurant from one end to the other . If I ever were to have a kitchen like I want it would be modeled after their kitchen . There are separate areas for pots and pans , silverware , dishes , glasses and plastic to be washed . Mrs Cook was a pleasure to work for even though she was strict . I admired that about her . She has written many cook books and was a water ski champion. She was a good Artist too .

Rodents and bugs are inevitable in food related industries. The difference, however, is if activity of a pest is found, in a good facility it is immediately investigated and handled. Not left alone to worsen like in that video that gentleman showed.

Rodents and roaches aren't just in fast food restaurants, any place that deals with food is bound to have roach and rodent problems, it's part of their nature to crowd and nest in places where a lot of food is accessible. I work in a Grocery store I haven't personally found any in people's groceries since I don't stock shelves I mainly doing checker and courtesy (Courtesy is helping my managers with stuff they don't get time to do or go get carts), but I'm sure there's rats and roaches in the back rooms where the food is stored to be stocked.

Almost every kind of place that has a kitchen, like hotels, restaurants etc. will have to deal with rodents or cockroaches at one point and is a constant thing to worry about. I've had a family member that worked in a hotel as someone in charge of cleaning and as a receptionist. Pests are practially inevitable to avoid, despite how well maintained the place is.

Someone didn't cover the gap under the house so that meant mice moved in when it got cold. They didn't go into the pantry. They didn't take food. They hung out around the water heater and got into my closet. Lost part of a scarf. They had a virtual buffet open to them and they went for the warmth. If you have any kind of opening, you're getting something. You could scrub those floors, you're getting SOMETHING. Plug up those holes. No janky plumbing. No janky heating. No janky ANYTHING. If you can fit your thumb on the opening you need to expect a mouse will try to squeeze through. It's all they need... and they will try to get warm.
@k3upikachu2 жыл бұрын
exactly. they're just trying to survive, and we create some comfy shelters. it's just how it goes. we had a cockroach problem in my condo for a bit and my ex bought some foam sealant and closed up every gap between pipes and walls. i've seen maybe 2 since then

my 1st ever job was at Church's Chicken and barely a week in, I saw a rat run under the counters, several roaches in the salad bag used for coleslaw, etc. I told my manager about it but she basically said "don't worry about it, you don't eat here anyway" bc i brought lunch.. not once in my short time working there did I eat Anything. It's crazy that it had an A rating when the conditions were truly sick 🤢
