this is what tina s says about the 7 years she was gone After focusing on guitar technique for several years, I needed a change, both personally and musically. Over the last few years, I've been exploring a new world, that of composing and working in a band. Today I'm proud to present you, with my band @SpinTwice, our very first EP called Gravity.

Many old fans of Tina expected some outstanding solo. But she plays in band and have to keep balance and don't overshadow the whole song with her performance. My English is not good enough but I hope my point of view is clear.

Its 7 years or so she has been away. Lot can happen in that time:). I also think it says a lot about her personality that she doesnt hog all attention to herself but lets her band also get quite a bit of spotlight.

Contrary to the critical comments, I think it's great. Not because it's entirely my taste in music, because it isn't, but because she's doing something entirely on her own initiative. For all we know, this style of music could have been what she liked all through her teens when she was making those shred videos. When a teen or even pre-teen is a virtuoso, there's always adults involved in some way. The type of music she was playing back then is the typical thing that a boomer or gen-x guitar teacher would encourage their protegé to play, so we should be very open to the idea that her old videos don't actually reflect her personal taste. But now that she's 23 and in a band, probably entirely of her own volition, we can be pretty sure this new music reflects what she actually likes at this stage in her life. And that's awesome for her, and for people who enjoy this type of music! The people who like other types of music, can seek out what they like, including her old videos which remain online. Meanwhile, it's now been nine days since her new video was published here on KZbin, and at the time of writing it has amassed 142k views. That's pretty decent, and I'm sure it'll pass 1M soon enough.

I have been a guitarist since 1993... Way before Tina was born... And I will tell you right now (IMO) She is the best guitarist I have seen. As a guitarist... It's not just what she does.. it's also how she does it. And I am speaking of a 15-16 yo Tina... She has to be even better after 7 years off. I am 42.. been playing 30 years... and NEVER even came close to her level... and NEVER will. That says something about her talent for sure! I agree with you btw... I got a guitar at 12 yo... I believe she was born with one!! LOL

It’s kinda weird that everyone “reacting”/“reviewing” this song is sort of expecting her to come back and just being what she was 7 or 8 years ago…Shredding the shit out of it. Well, maybe as a composer of her own music now she went to the “less is more” route. Anyone that can actually write a song, would get how amazingly rich this piece is. Tiny little details, all there. But if you are expecting pure shredding, it’s definitely going to be disappointing, which is a shame coz this song is definitely an evolution in her career.

We have to give her some more time, it's her first group, she's young, maybe she doesn't dare, she's still looking for herself. Maybe she doesn't have the talent to compose... I too expected more but you have to put yourself in her place, the pressure over the 7 years, that shouldn't be obvious. There was a big change in his life I think because he got his tattoos, so we shouldn't prejudge anything. Good luck to her, we're all waiting for the rest :)

yea they need to boost her sound its a little to much in the back ground this is a 3 song "album" the song gravity gives a little longer solo but they need to realize we are her for Tina she is the selling point give her the spot light think Van Halen without Eddie would just be the sammy hagar/ david lee roth band and no one bought his albums.

Its not them not giving her the time to shine. It was her concious decision to write simpler songs and stay in the background. Shes serving the song. She did the shredding stuff for years. It was time for her to try something new which is joining a band and letting THEM shine. She talked about all that on her Facebook page

Talents like her should perform solo. I don't know why but I expected her to stand out like Alexi Laiho (perfect example of a lead guitarist who didn't fade out in the band).

@@ReactionsbyD Not literally in case you didn't get it. The Tina S that had us all in awe of masterful guitar playing is absent from her playing here. This is so far short of what she is capable of. Don't believe me? Look at the views from all three songs in this EP and the views of her work from 6 years ago. It's like she threw the wizardry of her past in the dumpster. Sorry but this is a disappointing return. She could leave me in the dust and make me want to just quit but not with this.

@@RachelAnneAmbrose she posted on Facebook about the fact that she intentionally wrote these songs to be simpler. She has done the shredding stuff for years. It was simply time to try something new. The guitar work in this song is still great despite being largely in the background. Shes SERVING THE SONG. Which is basically the one and only thing to worry about when playing in a band. She doesnt owe you, me or any of her fans ANYTHING. She should always do what makes her happy as a musician. And in that case it was stepping back and letting everyone else shine as well
@RachelAnneAmbrose Жыл бұрын
@@metalpuppet5798 I know what serving the song is since I love Def Leppard and Vivian Campbell took the back seat in that band. I don't like constant shredding in a song. But I'm these songs Tina doesn't even give one measure, not one flurry of her immense talent. She doesn't owe fans anything but you kind of need fans or you have no career. Millions of views to a few thousand is telling. Tina bailed on her talent and that huge fan base bailed on her.

Unpopular Opinion: Feels like she got the wrongest possible advice and producer. She is so much better than what any of 1000 generic, mass-market-formula boy bands could put out. A computer could write something as original and exciting. And don't give me the "She was humble enough to not hog the spotlight" excuse. It's possible that she's a phenomenal player but without any substantial creative talent to package it in. It's also possible that college wasn't entirely good for her, given what college tends to do to young people today. Yikes. In any event, imagine a player in the caliber of Steve Vai or similar phenom packaging their talent in a generic boy band. Baffling.
