Excellent explanation. I wanted a spin racquet and bought a Head Extreme Graphene 360. It plays stiffer than its 63 RA rating - probably because it is designed to flex in the throat where it's thinner. Also, at only 3 points headlight, it was not possible to get a lot of racquet head speed with it. Racquet head speed is essential to generate the generous spin that spin racquets were designed to create. This problem was remedied with the stiffer and more headlight Head Extreme Graphene 360+ version now on sale. Don't overlook how essential generating racquet head speed is in order to get the most out of spin racquets.

Since I switched to Radikal pro 360+ I had chanced my string set up as well. I feel I master the all-around game perfectly well with it. I add lead at noon and to keep the balance at 315 wrapped it with Wilson leather replacement grip and Signum pro 0.70 mm wet grip soft. The string set up: main; rpm rough (black)130mm // cross; velocity (white) 125 mm(24X23 kg string tension). I have power, I have a decent amount of control, I have heavy spin. I can shift spin to flat power, in control. I feel I'm quite e a lucky player that this set of racquets I can comfortably change gears during the play. I had struggled to gain a coherent relationship with my racquets till I came up with this set-up. Thank you for your postings, I got quite ideas from you to develop the right perspective in choosing the right equipment.

I get the most spin from the racquet I can swing fastest. Currently Prince txt 95 and phantom 93p. When the racquet is head heavy, I can't swing it as fast. Also, when you can swing it faster, you can afford yourself more footwork mistakes/being late

Fascinating, thank you. I’ve recently returned to tennis after a 30 year gap and am on my third racket! The first was a Pure Aero, the second an eZone, and now I have a Blade, which I love. You’ve just described exactly the pros and cons that led me on this journey. I just wish marketing departments could be more open as it would have saved me some cash! All interesting though, and I’m glad I had the experience.

Great lecture! What I experience is that I am not a spin or power guy! not enough control! Im looking for thin control.beams not heavy and moderate balanced. rather small head. my choice now: HEAD Graphene Touch Prestige S. (almost same specs like my old Head LM Radical MP;)

The thin profile at the throat is for brush aerodynamics?? I question that. The original thin throat on the Babolat rackets was built in to the original Babolat mold that they purchased from Pro Kennex - specifically the racket mold for the Pro Kennex Ceramic Destiny. This was a design feature for incorporating flex in the throat, with stiffness in the head. An extra wide head had certain benefits, but a lack of feel that all the other Pro Kennex rackets have. The thinner throat was the solution. I suspect it has a lot more to do with flex than aerodynamics.

I had a demo of a good friend's new VCore 98 and Ezone 100. I really liked the swing&feel with access to power&spin by the 98 VCore. The Yonnex Poly Tour Pro string did the trick for controlled power and spin. It was fun to play with it. The 100 Ezone had Babolot RPM Blast. It hit well. It had had to much power and it's frame was to big for my play style. I did not like the racquets enough to give up my Wilson Pro Staff RF97V13 or RF97L. But, the top spin experience helped me pick a potential Yonnex Poly Tour string to enhance my Wilson racquet features. I've used RPM Blast in other racquets. At lower tensions for me it gives good control, feel and durability. So, instead of finding a racquet, I found a couple of strings to punch up the fun in my play. If you are looking for new magic, try a suitable string to aid your play style. It's definitely a less expensive way to boost racquet play.

Control racket for me in a hundred sq inch. String tension maintenance is improved and you still get spin from the wider spacing.

Nice video, I appreciate the complexity of the topic. Matching those frames with right strings, and change it frequently, is then the other key, because the strings are much more stressed. So my view is, pick the racquet that fits you and use the right strings to express the potential. A Spin o Power racquet with a 20/30 hours old bad poly is a nasty combination.

Hello so im farely new to this sort of information, ive been playing for a couple years and tried a bunch of racquets. I have a heavy topspin on my forehand shots (maybe because of my grip?) and pretty flat shots from my backhand side, so i have settled with the Wilson pro 97 v13, I'm not sure why I love it so much, I feel like I have more precision and control, I love the sound but my question is am I playing with the wrong stick? Am I not getting the most out of my game because of not using a spin racquet?

I play with a lot of spin - but have had some success in getting more weight/power on my shots by going for a more control orientated frame (currently new Vcore 97 18x20) - I can still generate enough spin with the racquet... Used to just go for spin frames!

The easier to notice, firstly, power and spin racquets mostly both have power. Then look at the racquet's neck, there should only 2 types: 6-strings or 8-strings. The 6 strings at the neck is a spin racquet.

Great video! But I always have such question: which category does Pro Staff 97 belong to? I mean the normal version of PS97 but not RF97. From my personal side I hit more flatter, but I still want to add some spin to achieve more forgiveness. I am a one-handed backhand player. Thank you.

Rackets and strings and tensions and weight, balance, and swing weight create a bunch of sliders. When you move one slider another moves in the opposite direction. It's all a compromise. The best rackets for you will be those that have a set of sliders you prefer with how you swing, your goals on court, and so on.

How about Fed using string “savers”? It doesn’t allow strings to move at all, but strings bite the ball better and spins it. It’s not Rafa style shot but still plenty spin

There was a chart I saw last year using data over a few months worth of tournaments on the ATP tour from a few years ago and measured average RPMs on backhands and forehands. The leaders were obviously players like Nadal, Berretini, and Casper Ruud. These players largely use spin oriented 100 inch rackets, with the odd exception like Thiem. Obviously spin, power, and control can he achieved with various types of setups (player swing style and goals etc play such a big role in what setups will help them with what), so it's not like in this case you need a spin 100 to create spin, but many spin oriented players will opt for such a racket much like how many great servers have opted for extended length frames like Isner, Roddick, Tsonga etc and many flatter strikers who target smaller targets will opt for smaller head sizes and denser string patterns (Medvedev, for example) and so on and so forth

@@Helios_17_ happy if it could help! The 200 Tour is 95 head size and 315g. It could work if you can handle the heft. But I think CX200 98 305g would be a better fit for entering the sport and get yourself rocking those ground strokes 😁😎

Speed Pro is definitely a more well rounded racquet than the PA. Aero has so much pop it forces me to play in ways I don’t care for.

@@curttheboywonder maybe add weight? I think I have to hit the gym like rafa so I can swing the speed pro faster for more spin. FHs are fine, they land deep and with pace. BHs are flat and consistent, but consistently lacking in spin and power.

@@curttheboywonder I think its important to be aware that what works for one won't work for another. Your experience with the Aero obviously is not shared by many non pros in the world and many pros on both the WTA and ATP tour. Yet at the same time you're definitely not alone in your experience with the Aero. I think it comes down to swing style and preferences on court. The aero has supreme shot security with the right player, and this could be a player who plays with a lot of rpms or perhaps someone who enjoys the high launch angle. Often, when I encounter players who are against the Aero in real life I find that its because they swing very aggressively for small targets and need help keeping balls in and/or they don't play with enough spin to get the spin to dip the ball back in from its high launch with the racket.

I had the wilson clash and had terrible elbow pain. Then I switched to head gravity and no issues whatsoever. Just saying, that the clash isn’t necessary arm friendly.
