My surgery went well.. I had pain for about three weeks The surgeon also found a ruptured disk and a herniated disc...They were wonderful to me in the operating room

Most of my pain is gone.. My surgeon did a laminectomy and he discovered a ruptured disc.. which also needed to be removed. The first two weeks were rough but after that I feel so much better

Hello KZbinrs, I am sharing my story hoping it will help someone. What they don’t tell you in these videos is that endoscopic surgery is NOT covered by health insurance (in the United States). I had to pay $30K for my procedure (May 2024). However it was more than worth it. I had to acquire the funds from my retirement account. Borrow the money if you need, you will be glad you did. Immediately after surgery, I was instantly and fully healed with no recovery time. Nor did I need any pain medication afterwards at all, whatsoever. It was money well spent.

The insurance coverage depends on individual's insurance package. My insurance plan has the coverage. I only paid up to the yearly max out of pocket amount (a few thousands $). I am in California, USA. I had my surgery done just 4 days ago. I am in recovery process which is estimated to be several weeks.

Is this procedure safe for cervical spinal stenosis? Does the surgeon need to remove the excess tissue/ligament/bone under constant xray vision so not to touch the spinal cord itself?

There are approaches for the cervical levels. How many levels to be operated is depended on clinical diagnosis. A single level is the most common reason for symptoms. But more than one level might be indicated. Please consult with your local clinician.

Can this procedure be done if you need a laminectomy and discectomy as well. Or if you already had an fusion done ?

@@stacia2719 A laminectomy at the same time with a discectomy is not a problem at all. If there is already a fused level, it seems less likely that it has to be decompressed. Technically it is possible, however there might be individual, patient specific restrictions that have to be considered by the surgeon if operating on a fused level. If the question is for a surgery on a level that is not fused, while a neighboring level is fused, I don't see many restrictions. Again, this has to be verified by a surgeon.

Mri report Impression: At L4-L5 level: A 4-4.5mm central and bilateral paracentral disc protrusion is noted asymmetric to the left. Moderate left lateral recess stenosis is noted with abutment on left traversing L5 nerve root. What should i do doctor? 😢😢

Had spinal fusion at L5-S1. Ended up in worse shape. As scar tissue from the surgery entrapped the nerves. Ended up in constant pain 24/7, as opposed to pain when on my feet for four or more hours. Beware of fusions.
